  1. 1. Albert Ellison 2. Ron Mercer 3. Shawn Marion 4. Tony Delk 5. "Penny" Hardaway
  2. DAWGSFAN71, Josh "Buster" Keltner was indeed the one you probably saw at Wal-Mart. After graduating he committed to Indiana to play alongside long-time friend and fellow Bother in Christ Kirk Haston. However two weeks into conditioning Keltner tore his ACL thus ending his collegiate career. I've heard rumors he now works at Wal-Mart and has started a family.
  3. Is H.Spears the same guy who coached the Raiders in 03' when they went 23-1 and won the State.
  4. Didn't LC play two games while at Lipscomb........why no indepth report on there first game against David Lipscomb ??
  5. I feel that when the Lady Bobcats give the student section something to cheer about , then they will. Here are a few other reasons why the students at GCHS are so eager to cheer for the guys and not the girls. 1.) The men have the #1 high school player in the COUNTRY. 2.) At one point the men had 25+ straight wins 3.) The men have a 3-point shooter who rarely misses. And I personally believe a missed dunk in a guys game would be a highlight over any event in a girls game. In a time when women want equal rights.........let's give it to them, make them earn the fans. Don't get on here and bash the students for being bored with the girls.
  6. WestTn2004--- You say Hunt. plays Chester and Lewis County like if they don't make it to semi's they are losers. Have you no sense . Lewis County is 12-0 and would run wild on Milan.
  7. Great game LCHS Band. Who would stoop low enough to blame the band for a loss.......Answer = One crazy "lady in red" from Mckenzie. Not only did she curse out poor Mr.Luna , but also several staff members on the LC sideline. The "lady in red" is a prime example of poor sport, sorry loser, and disgrace to her county. Note to Concerned : "Crazy Lady In Red" was escorted off school grounds by local law enforcement. Hope she learned her lesson!
  8. I enjoy reading about these Legends as much as anyone. And they have a point. The treads I read about them are very fun and entertaining, but they always seem to get deleted. And to prove my point....I bet this thread will be gone today. Hang in there Legends.
  9. I heard that Buster had a very hard week of training, and is now even more prepared than ever to fight the "Pearl". In a interview via cell phone on his way home late Fri. night Buster had this to say: "I feel very confident going into my second week of training, I am getting stronger mentally and physically and still believe Pearl will last no longer than round five! " However it is being reported to me that Buster is deeply saddened that his partner/trainer/ and longtime friend Larry Rodgers has yet to call and check on him or invite him to do anything as of late Saturday afternoon. This could be a huge mental blow to Buster and cause the fight/career to be postponed or cancelled.
  10. This fight will never go the distance. Pearl is to strong and in better condition for a 12 round bout. However this will never go 12 rounds. Buster has fought many tough opponents, but none like the Pearl(professional boxer). If Buster can avoid Pearl for the first 6 then his luck will run out in the 7th and he will get KO, possibly losing several teeth and a broke nose.
  11. This sounds like a very interesting fight. I doubt anyone could beat Janitor Lady though. I hear her only weakness is her love for a certain faculty member at LCMS.
  12. I think Lewis County will win by 2 in overtime.
  13. Mr.Mckissack- 10pts Mr.Keltner- 8pts Mr.Cox - 4pts Mr.Lawson - 2pts Mr.Duncan- 0pts Mr.Clayton- 0pts Mr.Jackson- 0pts Faculty pulled out this game 24-16. At one point the students had the lead cut to two. The crowd responed wildly when Fan Favorite Mr.Jackson entered the game. Jackson was unable to score but was quoted after the gamne saying he had a great time.
  14. Smits is the only legend to be named after a former NBA great, Ric Smits. No one is for sure of Smits real name or age, but all agree that he can play some ball. Smits started his career at memorial at the age of 16. Smits was 6-2 and 257lbs and had a ponytail 2 feet long at the beginning his rookie season. During his rookie season he was less than spectacular, often missing easy lay-ups and turning the ball over. Mid-way through his first season Smits was dropped of the offical Memorial Park roster for his actions during a game. With 2 points left for the win, Smits gave the ball to a member of the opposing team and said F it..I never want to play again. This came after continuous heckling from teammates and courtside fans alike.Smits then took it a step further and quite school in the 9th grade. On his offical papers to Dr.Tim Webb, Smits cited stress and pressure from playing at Memorial Park as reason for his withdrawal. What many didn't know was that Smits took full advantage being out of school and spent from 7:45am-2:50pm Mon-Fri. at Memorial Park practicing. Smits often would play all day with no food or water, it is rumored that Coach Grinder once spotted Smits with his coondogs sharing a meal and drink of water. Grinder once stated: If the kid improves, then some Ole Roy is worth it. To everyones surprise late last year Smits reinstated himself in the Memorial Park roster. Not many reconized Smits who is now 6-3 and 140 with a buzz cut. He was picked up and encouraged by the Keltner's and made All-Park honors in his first year back.He has had continued success since his return. He has recently been active with the Legends, but has been hampered by a pulled groin of late. Smits also recently graduated HS...(Home School, with a 3.9 GPA).Thanks Smits, for what you've done for the game of basketball.
  15. I remember as a young child watching this Doc Haley play ball at Memorial Park. He would average 22pts,14reb,4blk, and 3 cigarettes a game.I remember his unstoppable bank shot from the corner. After every shot went through the goal he would always have something to say, yet no one really ever understood him because the ciagrette hanging from the corner of his mouth slurred his speech. He is the only Legend to ever play his whole career "at Memorial Park" in a pair of Gore-TX Boots, yet he still could outjump many of the youngsters. Doc is most remembered for his game winning jumper over Josh Duckett in the '96 Memorial Park challenge. Little did we know that was the last competitive shot Doc would ever take. With the score tied at 28, Haley took a pass from Tim Baker. He drove to the corner heavily guarded by the much larger Duckett. Everyone knew the bank was coming, and Duckett was going to block the shot. Both players went up and about that time a large gust of wind blew ashes from Doc's cigarette into the eyes of Duckett who screamed in pain and threw his hands over his eyes and away from Haley's shot. Haley took advantage of the situation and nailed the bank shot fromthe corner, winning the game and series. Haley announced his retirement after the game saying he would spend most of his time working with young Doc Haley Jr.'s ballgame. It is rumored Haley donated the Gore-TX boots he wore in his final game to charity for auction. Joshua Duckett lost partial sight in his left eye and had a severly burned retina. He was forced to finish his career wearing tinted goggles. Thanks Doc, for all the memories!
