  1. 98.3 FM comes in loud and clear in Coalfield, but that's Sweetwater's play by play crews. But, it's also online with OS's play by play crew on http://www.oshs.com if I'm not mistaken.
  2. Good picks, Festus, I don't think I'll argue with those choices, I agree.
  3. Good luck to Smith County, hope y'all win Friday night. Been keeping up with the Owls since y'all were in Oliver Springs in week 3. In fact, O.S. is the only team left in the playoffs from East TN I give a hoot about. I can't remember how long ago so many teams in the immediate area are already out of the playoffs by the third round. Oak Ridge is gone, Kingston is gone, Anderson Co. is gone, Coalfield is gone, y'all get the picture.
  4. I didn't think of co-players of the year, but I like the idea. They both deserve it. No doubt who deserves the kick returner/athlete of the year. Michael Paul Gilbert, Oakdale.
  5. I can't decide between John T. Armes and Daniel Norman for player of the year. I'll hold off on that for a few days. Also difficult to make a choice for QB on the All County Team between Ricky Lowe and Armes. Lowe has much more passing yards, and Armes has much more rushing yards, plus, he helped advance further into the playoffs. But, I'll take a stab at the skill positions on offense. Running backs: Daniel Norman, Coalfield. Michael Paul Gilbert, Oakdale. Ryan Gunter, Wartburg. Tight End, Brandon Foster, Coalfield. Wide receivers: Nathan Thompson, Coalfield, Travis Aytes, Wartburg
  6. Why suspend a player for a traffic violation?
  7. I emailed you earlier this afternoon at both the .acs.ac and hotmail addresses. You may have left class already.
  8. OS91, I've been reading the obituary and think I might know his relatives. Did Steven have uncles and aunts named Doug, Wilma, and Larry? [Edited by orangenblack on 11-18-02 2:05P]
  9. Steven was a member of Greenway Baptist Church in Clinton, but recently had attending Calvary Baptist in Oak Ridge. The church has grown so much lately it's difficult for me to remember him. But friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 Tuesday night at Calvary, with funeral at 8:00. Steve McDonald and Larry Potter will conduct the service.
  10. Obituary available here: http://www.oakridger.com [Edited by orangenblack on 11-18-02 4:56P]
  11. Steven had been attending my church, but apparently the pastor hadn't heard about it Sunday morning, because it wasn't announced.

    Anderson Co...

I watched the Friday Night Scoreboard on Comcast Channel 12 and more than one fan called in complaining about the muddy field. One lady said the fire dept. hooked up to a hydrant and hosed the field down before the game. She says she walked through the infield of the baseball diamond and it was much drier. Another lady urged everyone to never go back to Gatlinburg and spend a dime.
  13. I was wondering about that myself, OZ. But I taped the program, and watched it after I returned home. But guess what? I saw Ted Hall and Robin Wilhoit at the game in the second half. Yes, it would have been better aired Saturday. Must've been their only convenient time slot.
  14. Answerman, I saw David C. driving toward Hilltop last weekend. He remembers me. I didn't get to go to the class reunion last Thanksgiving weekend because I was in Alabama, but I still have 95% of my hair with very little grey. You'd be surprised how people forget after 30 yrs, but I remember all of them.
  15. I don't know a lot about Rockwood football, other than seeing them play once this year against O.S. But,from I've heard from what fans I have talked to, the should have won the "Excellence in Underachieving" trophy for Region 2 this year.
  16. Pujo, looks like you'll be 4-0 next Friday night.
  17. Though the field was a mudhole, it rained very little at the Wartburg/O.S. game. But I was disappointed at the turnout. How was attendance and the weather at the game you attended last night? [Edited by orangenblack on 11-16-02 8:54P]
  18. Is Bill Rudder from Franklin County the dentist "Doc" Rudder who practices in Knoxville? He used to have a call in show on 850 WKVL, and still is guests on the Dewey Warren Radio Show quite often.
  19. Just wondering, I'm about three hours away, so I can't make it.
  20. I spent pretty much an equal amount of time behind both sidelines, and the Wartburg crowd was more into the game. Maybe I'll get to Sweetwater next week. OS is the only team left alive in the immediate area. This is off the subject, but I got a kick out of a couple of little old ladies who called Marty Maston and Company. They were Anderson County fans, and they swear that the Gatlinburg-Pittman Fire Depts. had hooked their hoses to a fire hydrant and wet down the football field. "Helen" said she walked through the infield of the baseball field, and it was so dry, dust flew. She urged the world to never go back to Gatlinburg and spend money again. 21. I noticed some of the fans and faculty who I ALWAYS SEE at the games weren't even there. And the food drive was pretty disappointing, too.
  22. I don't think the O.S. bleachers were anywhere near 1/2 full, more like 30%. But, as I read somewhere on this board a while back, during adverse weather, the TRUE FANS show up, and the people who just want to be seen stay at home.
  23. Are you safe, buddy? [Edited by orangenblack on 11-14-02 8:34P]
  24. Hey Festus, how ya doin? [Edited by orangenblack on 11-14-02 8:33P]
