  1. Now that D2 is set what predictions do you have? Quarterfinals: #2 Middle Brentwood Academy vs #2 East GPS GPS #1 West St. Agnes vs #3 Middle Harpeth Hall St. Agnes #1 Middle BGA vs #3 West Hutchsion BGA #1 East Baylor vs #2 West ECS ECS Semifinals: #2 East GPS vs #1 West St. Agnes St. Agnes #1 Middle BGA vs #2 West ECS BGA Finals: #1 West St. Agnes vs #1 Middle BGA St. Agnes
  2. I wouldn't give up on this. The NFHS rules allow for a player to wear a protective face mask that is molded to the face with no protrusions. The player must have a facial injury and have a medical release signed by a physician. Players without a facial injury are not allowed to have this. Based on what you posted, you should have your coach and athletic director pursue this with the TSSAA. They probably don't know this is permissible.

    Class AAA

I agree with you on Collierville. They are my pick to win it all again this year.

    Class AA/A

I believe it will be FRA to win it all this year.

    Class D2

I picked an unpopular BGA boys team to win state in D2 and I'll do the same on the girls side. 1. BGA 2. Father Ryan 3. St. Agnes 4. GPS 5. Harpeth Hall 6. Brentwood Academy 7. Baylor 8. ECS
  6. I'll stand by these original predictions going into the finals Saturday but all could get beat. All 3 finals should be good. Score predictions - BGA 1, CBHS 1 with BGA winning in PK's CAK 2, Knox Catholic 1 Hendersonville 2, Bearden 1
  7. CBHS 1, MBA 0 Ridgeway 1, Ooltewah 0 BGA 6, Briarcrest 0
  8. Hendersonville is still in...how did BGA and CAK do?
  9. http://www.tssaa.org/2005Champions/StateBSoccer/home.htm Brackets are finalized on the TSSAA site. The Hendersonville/Houston match-up should be interesting in the quarterfinals.
  10. Here's the website http://www.tssaa.org/2005Champions/StateBSoccer/home.htm
  11. Those are all solid picks with the CAK/Catholic early round game likely deciding the champion.
  12. State tournament winners and why - D2 - BGA A/AA - CAK AAA - Hendersonville All have imo at least the same if not more talent than others. CBHS, Knox Catholic and take your pick in AAA could do it too...
  13. Again, MW has one of the top GK's in the state and a solid defense. They may struggle to score. 2 teams from that area will advance to state and the only ones that MW will clearly have to beat are Bearden (who you didn't mention for some reason) and Farragut, which has struggled early (narrow 2-1 preseason vs Sul South).
  14. Thanks for the opinions....although you are 0% correct in your predictions/assumptions so far (who said I was a "guy"? . Is this the same Baylor team that was predicted to be in the top tier last year and is the Chatt Times player of the year the strong defender they have? Where will their offense come from? Also who is the National Team player from Ooltewah?...is this a transfer or freshman? There are no national team players other than Kelley and Tarr from TN unless this is someone on the U-14 developmental side...correct?
  15. You're probably correct that some are missing. If it ends up being 100% then I'm in the wrong profession. One clarification, The rankings are based on the final 8 teams that go to state...not necessarily the top 8. There are some weak areas in certain divisions such as West TN in AA but they will have 2 teams advance to state regardless.
  16. Meant Webb not Catholic and made the change to the original. Give some reasons for Notre Dame, Baylor and Ooltewah...who is talented on their teams? McMinn returns two all-state players and has the experience at state that Ooltewah doesn't. Baylor loses some attack and although they have a good defense and coaching, they aren't as strong as last year's team that didn't get to state.
  17. No doubt their defense is a question mark but they have enough talent and experience up front and in the midfield again to make some noise this year.
  18. AAA - 1. Collierville 2. Bearden 3. Hendersonville 4. Siegel 5. Cordova 6. Oak Ridge 7. Centennial 8. Soddy-Daisy A/AA - 1. FRA 2. Knox Catholic 3. Sweetwater 4. McNairy Central 5. CPA 6. CAK 7. Notre Dame 8. Madison D2 - 1. BGA 2. GPS 3. St. Agnes 4. Father Ryan 5. ECS 6. Baylor 7. Brentwood Academy 8. St. Benedict
  19. AAA - 1. Hendersonville 2. McMinn County 3. Houston 4. Bearden 5. Brentwood 6. Morristown West 7. Ridgeway 8. Blackman A/AA - 1. CAK 2. FRA 3. Westview 4. CCS 5. CPA 6. Sheffield 7. Grace 8. Knox Catholic D2 - 1. BGA 2. McCallie 3. MUS 4. Knox Webb 5. Father Ryan 6. CBHS 7. ECS 8. MBA
  20. Your bias against west tennessee is showing. Only 4 of 24 mf and strikers you picked are from that area. Check the head to head competition of taking your picks vs TACA list and let us know what adjustments you might make.
  21. anyone know who is moving from private to public or public to private in sports other than football?
  22. TheSeer you are right. Boy do I deserve that. I'm surprised the posters from CAK and Lenoir City didn't really let me have it! They should have. Congratulations to CAK and LC along with MUS and USN! MUS and USN proved that they were only underdogs in the minds of those that dont' really count. Posters like me! There is no doubt that D2 had the best 8 teams top to bottom. Farragut may be the best overall but when the two #3 seeds are playing in the finals that shows the strength in that division.
  23. This game very well could be the battle of the keepers. As good as USN's is, MUS' keeper has the experience and results, just ask McCallie's team from last season. These are the two teams I thought had no chance of winning it all and now one of them will. This also means either the Nashville or Memphis area will go home with zero championships which is pretty amazing. There is no question that people like me that get to see a few games but rely heavily on scores and like opponent results can't predict intangibles like heart and character. Both these teams have it and one will take the prize.
