  1. Article in the Southern Standard stated he had a concussion with memory loss and dizziness. Due to HIPPA laws we can not get much info but I am thinking that if there was a serious problem, we would know by now. Just keep them in your prayers.
  2. A freshman football player from Warren County was air lifted to Erlanger after going into distress at school this morning. He was hurt in practice yesterday. Please lift him and his family up in prayers.
  3. Has coach Britton landed anywhere yet?
  4. He did play some at Tech. Not sure who his family is. Everyone is pretty excited to have him on board.
  5. Greg Cotton, a recent TTU graduate
  6. Change for the sake of change is not always the answer. A candidate I thought would do a good job and who was a huge advocate for athletics in this county and actually talked about changing athletics (administrators and coaches), finished 3rd out of 3 in the last election. Many people care about sports but it does not translate to votes. The voting public cares about test scores not sports scores. It takes a balance of both to make well rounded citizens.
  7. You seem to have all the solutions. Care to recommend who we should elect out of the vast number of candidates running for office this year?
  8. Coach Madewell is paid on 12months not 10 like normal teachers and receives his head coaches supplement and weight trainer's supplement. No coach since Pedro Paz hired Sid Fritz has a coach gotten outside help with pay. The state audits the books and requires all pay to come through payroll accounts. Every time we have had a head football opening, we have contacted Gary Rankin, Carlton Flatt and David Pack. Gary has never been interested in coming back here even though we could get close on his money. Flatt and Pack made well over the 6 figures at their private schools so we had no chance at them. Every other coach has been paid the same as coach Madewell based upon years experience, degrees held, 12 months plus both supplements. The only part of this that the School Board can control is the extra months pay. The Union negotiates the pay and supplements and the County Court is asked to fund it after the School Board sends in the budget with salaries included. Funding raises usually requires tax increases that commissions are afraid to pass since they want to keep their jobs.
  9. utchuckd, could you put names with everyone you are referring to? There have been many coaches come and go in all sports and I have a hard time keeping up without "posters" listing names unless of cource listing names might hurt someone. I definitely don't want to hurt anyone. I just want to be sure I speak intelligently on the subject.
  10. Devin will help during spring and probably help as a non faculty position coach in the fall. He will not be OC or DC. The amount of money available to pay coaches is negotiated with the teacher's union and voted on by their membership. They tend to not favor coaching raises since it dilutes the monies that would go to all teachers not just coaches. Carlton Flatt and Bill Price are the only coaches I can recall to inquire about jobs here that money was their main issue. Some coaches that have been pursued said they were not interested due to it being a bad career move and some have had money issues. Most experienced coaches will go where they have a chance to win a championship and most know that it is most likely not here anytime soon even though we are improving each year.
  11. No one has been named. Still looking for one.
  12. I would not have their jobs. Way too much criticism for me but I do work for the school system. If anyone wants to know who I am, I have no problem giving out my name. Just give an email address and I will contact you or anyone else who wants to know. I just enjoy this whole forum and the free exchange of ideas and information.
  13. I know that in the past the soccer season went into May (including the playoffs) because some seniors were late for graduation. The paper has not picked up on it yet. They may be waiting for an official press conference. I just know that Willmore applied and was recommended by principal and AD.
  14. I heard that Todd Willmore the defensive Coordinator has been hired as the new girls soccer head coach. How will this affect his football coaching if at all?
  15. I agree with you that any of the guys you mentioned would make excellent coaches and any head coach worth his salt would use them if they were agreeable to help. Most of these guys have been aproached in the past and have helped as much as their real jobs would allow. Every sucessful program has survived because of dedicated volunteer coaching.
  16. Dale did not apply but he did talk with the Middle School AD. The Principal did not tell Madewell he would not hire Dale because Dale did not apply for a job. There was never anything except conversation. I think that anyone interested in a job would actually put in an application. If the applicant is qualified, and Dale is, then he would need to apply and it is up to the principal to find a teaching slot for him. Coach Madewell has never asked that Dale be considered. He has asked for a coach to be considered and the principals are looking for a placement for him.
  17. No but the system is trying to move in that direction. Non faculty will be considered if a qualified teacher/coach can not be found.
  18. Dale Dunlap never applied to Warren County and if he had it would have been Coach Madewell's recommendation pending finding a teaching slot in the system. No one has been hired for the Middle School job as of this morning although Coach Madewell has recommended someone. Just trying to find a slot within his certification.
  19. The supplement, while low, has not been an issue so far. The school system is trying to get away from volunteer coaches. They are attempting to hire teachers who are also willing to coach. The pay in all school systems is based on a fixed state amount and a local amount supplied by the county court. It has always been a problem to get money from the county because they do not want to raise taxes. Insurance for teachers is paid on a 60/40% spilt with the state paying 40% of an individual policy. The remainder is a negotiated amount with the teachers union. Most teachers prefer a raise each year rather than insurance since they all do not take the insurance.
  20. I do not know where some of you get your information but all applicants and resumes are turned over to the head coach for him to decide. They want all coaches to be teachers whenever possible. If Steve Britton applies, he would have to interview with coach Madewell.
  21. In Warren County, the teachers union negotiates the coaching suppliments. The AD and principal ask for increases in suppliments every year but any money going to coaches would be money not going to teachers so it comes only in small amounts if at all. The school board can only give extra months contracts to increase pay.
  22. What big name coaches have applied in Warren County?
  23. 2Hot4u, Warren County had him once as an assistant. His personal life got in his way. He has not been offered the job.
  24. Coach Tidwell is not the first Warren County coach to resign in the middle of the season. Bobby Newby resigned before the end of the season and if I remember correctly, James Bennett and Bobby Hale had to finish the season for him. The football program has been going down hill ever since with the exception of maybe one winning season under Coach Ray Barnes. We had an opportunity to hire David Pack after Barnes left but the principal at the time Bentley Rowdin(spelling?) did not want him because Coach Pack wanted control of all of Warren County's football programs and Rowdin did not want to give that much power to anyone. Everyone knows their view of history from that point forward. There is no easy solution to the problems that exist in the Warren Couny football program. It is time for us to try to think outside the box to come up with a viable solution to our problems. It might be time to bring in a consultant to get a fresh ideas before we get in to the hiring phase. Just some thoughts.
