  1. You can listen live online on the CoachT website by going to the schedule and click on Warren County. When Schedule appears, click on the sound icon and you can listen to WAKI local station.
  2. I believe he was at Science Hill until he was released by Director. He went to Warren County and stayed a year until he found out he was being put in Rutherford county's region. Went to Franklin County and was fired after two seasons. Did Well at Ezell in part due to it being a private school and able to recruit good athletes. Even with that said, you don't win a gold ball without both coaching and good athletes. He's a good coach but has not stayed anywhere long.
  3. Spoke to the Attendance person for Warren County and the active enrollment for the high school is 1979 as of September 6th. I don't have any other answers for our teams but wish for success for the Pioneers!
  4. I played for Warren County in the 70's and all the schools including us did much worse. The only thing that would have happened is that our coach would have used that sign as motivation for all of the next year. We would have walked on broken glass wanting to get them back on the field the next season. That parent, whoever it was, in the words of the immortal Jack Nicholson "You can't handle the truth!" Blackman, you guys are a heck of a team and the old football guys in WC wish you much success in the playoffs.
  5. New coach has been chosen. Time to get behind him and the great bunch of returning players and show the support they deserve. Good hire.
  6. Joey Haston was named the new head coach for Warren County this morning at a press conference at the WCHS.
  7. Chis Madewell is one of the most honorable men I know and he would never have a last laugh at anyone's lack of success. Chris took a troubled program and built it to the best of his ability. He was not fired or made to resign. He left on his own accord. I think it is time to stop trying to second guess the selection of a coach and support whomever the committee selects. Whether you like the new coach or not, he will be the new coach no matter what and it is time for all of Warren County to get behind the selection when he is hired.
  8. It is my understanding that the committee has given Todd the authority to negotiate with the top candidates and to bring the committee those results. I may be wrong but that should be part of his job.
  9. Technically, the AD job is not administrative but another separate coaching duty.
  10. I agree 100% that the coaches need to support the head coach. I was using those names off the top of my head. I did not mean to infer that a coach should choose them. As to my liking or not liking a head coach, I like and respect coach madewell and if my son would have played football I would have loved for him to play for Chris. I just think that since Chis has resigned, it is time to start from scratch with a new group of coaches without any preconceived ideas about this team and our school.
  11. 2009-2010 TSSAA bylaws page 8 states 3 non faculty coaches for football and 2 for Basketball. Any retired/non employed teacher/coach with 5 years experience and holding a valid teaching certificate can coach. this alone would allow for 5 volunteers from the hypothetical list I used previously plus the 6 regular paid assistants. Any team should be able to do well with a head coach and 11 assistants. No matter how we look at it, we need to get the best people in as soon as it is possible. Have heard that there are around 30 official applicants plus several inquiries from the range of assitant coaches to some ex professional athletes. I have not heard any names other than the same rumors going around that everyone has heard. I would like to say that it is good that there is so much interest and that the coments on this thread are staying so positive!
  12. Is that freshman thru varsity or varsity only? That was just 'Varsity', Freshman team had about 8 of their own and they ALL worked together during the Varsity games. At one time R'dale had more coaches on the sidelines than some teams I have seen in Tennessee. I do NOT know how many were paid 'coaches', but there was a BUNCH at one time. I was talking about paid coaches since everyone on here wants to say that Warren County will not let a coach bring in people. A new coach here might want to go to some of the past successful players and coaches for volunteer help. It would be a good thing to get folks like Danny Martin, Alan Lynn, Bobby Newby, Pedro Paz, Billy Rutledge etc. to volunteer along with whoever the new coach brings with him. We can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I don't think anyone can or will fault the previous staff when it comes to teaching boys to be moral men, but I think that the new coach should start from scratch like the basketball coaches did. Whether they are paid or volunteer, we need to get people who have been winners to be able to teach and expect winning.
  13. Good question. I asked him how many he had and that was his answer. I'll ask him when I talk to him next. I just thought since he was over all of football at Riverdale he meant total. Never assume anything.
  14. There are only 6 paid assistant coaching slots in Warren County. When Rankin was at Riverdale he only had 6-8 paid assistants. According to Gary, the rest were volunteers.
  15. Not sure who current staff is but I would think that any non tenured staff members will go and all openings where a retirement takes place would be available for assistant coaches. I have heard that all current staff will have to reapply for their coaching jobs when the new coach is hired. None have coaching job security.
  16. I am curious now. please tell us who the "good " coaches are that have looked here and not come because of money. Who they are would be a fact that everyone should be made aware of if we are going to try to fix our problems. Carlton Flatt is the only one I can remember who WC could not come close to on pay. He was making over 100k when Mr. Paz talked with him several years ago.
  17. The job is posted for a minimum of ten days. It will stay open until it is filled. I have been told that there are between ten and twenty applicants of whom several are still coaching in the playoffs and a few who were put out in the 1st round. As to the question of Gary Rankin. From the time Mr. Paz took over as superintendant up until now, Gary Rankin has been contacted every time there has been an opening and has said he is not interested. Money has never been a reason. Other name coaches have expressed an interest into coming here but refuse to move to Warren County. It has always been the policy to have head coaches live in the county. Shows a committment to the kids and program. I think we need to let the process take it's course and get a good fit for our program. Everyone on this board is concerned and has nothing but the best intentions for Warren County football, but we need to put a little faith in the AD, Todd Willmore. He has many contacts throughout the state and will no doubt get quality coaches to apply.
  18. The posting for football should be the same as it was for basketball. The job will be posted on TSSAA web site and school system's website for a minimum of 10 days. The principal, AD and HR Director will then look at the applications and narrow it down to the top 5 or 10 depending on how many apply. The best candidate will then be selected. This is how it was done for BB. Should be the same process.
  19. He said he will be in town for a press conference on Monday and is signing up with Kelly Services so he can start subbing and get to work right away.
  20. Per the Southern Standard, Eric Baird was most recently assistant boys coach at Hixson High School. Prior to that he was head boys coach at Sequoyah High School in Madisonville Tennessee and assistant coach to both boys and girls basketball at Escambia High School in Pensacola Florida. He was also assistant girl's coach at Bradley Central in Cleveland TN from 1998-2001
  21. How is changing a coach with a 2-25 record with 25 straight losses, getting even with anyone? Both programs needed a change and a change is being made. It is time to look to the future and get behind the program and the new coaches whoever they may be. Time to be positive about athletics in Warren county.
  22. Bennett does not do anything with any coach until after the team banquets. He has always waited until the banquet which is the official end to a season for the teams, before making a coaching move, unless it is an emergency ie. Tidwell throwing helmet. THey are supposed to be setting a date for the banquet today.
  23. What school does not need a geometry teacher? I'm sure WC does.
  24. Warren County's principal will not do anything until after the basketball banquet.
