It was definitely a one-man show for Clinton, but I was still very impressed by Clinton's QB. Very reminiscent of Kier Houston at Powell a few years ago, only bigger. Completely reversed his field on a number of occasions, which was very impressive. Kudos to the Powell defense for completely taking away the running game, outside of the QB.
To me, two plays really standout in this game. The first being the final play of the first half. As time expired, Clinton threw a bomb from midfield on a broken play to a wide open receiver down inside the 5. Powell was flagged for defensive holding on the play. The officials were going to give Clinton a free play inside the 5, but they finally got together and after a long discussion, they got the call right - in order to get a free play at the end of the half, Clinton had to accept the holding penalty (otherwise by rule, the half would be over). The ball was moved back to the original line of scrimmage and the penalty was marked off. Powell tackled the QB after a short gain on the next play, ending the threat.
The second play, and most decisive, was the "Bush Push" penalty late in the 3rd quarter. With Clinton trailing 29-20, they drove down near the Powell 10. On 3rd and short, Clinton's QB ran to the right, picked up the first down, but kept driving the pile forward, with a little bit of help from his O-line. He actually made it into the end zone (2 officials signaled TD), but the referee threw a flag for illegally assisting the ball carrier (I've actually never seen this called in a game before). Clinton got another crack at 3rd and short, but Powell's defense stiffened, and stopped the Dragons on both 3rd and 4th downs.
