  1. Boy, Powell can't get out of their own way in this one. Rodgers has put the ball on the ground 4 times, they've driven the length of the field on all 3 drives, but 2 turnovers have kept OR in it. Powell leads 7-0 with 3 min left in the 1st half. OR has had the ball for less than 2 min so far this half.
  2. I saw him against Powell, and granted the sample size is small, he was... inconsistent. He made a few nice throws, but he sailed the ball at times, and had a couple of INTs. Overall, I just wasn't very impressed. He was pretty rough around the edges. And with Moog likely out for the rest of the season, things aren't going to get any easier for the kid. I'm still surprised that AC chose to take a one-year flyer on a guy who is new to the program when they could be breaking in a younger QB who will likely be back again next season, but maybe there is a big drop-off between QB1 and QB2.
  3. Powell really did have some back-breaking penalties in this one, and they weren't the 15-yard variety either. Just goes to show that their margin of error is a lot smaller this season.
  4. Not sure how I feel about this one, although I think I felt the same way prior to the game against Farragut last week. The team that made the fewest mistakes ultimately won, and I have a feeling the same will be true again this week. Rodgers is already banged up 2 games into the season, so Lowe is going to have to be careful how much he lets his sophomore QB run the football; I've really been impressed by Rodgers ability to carry out the read-option so well, especially for a kid his age. Powell really needs some WRs to step up on offense, just to take some pressure off of their running game. They've been rotating 3-4 RBs, but outside of Stooksbury (and Wheeler), they haven't really had anyone standout catching the football. Everyone knows what this team lost at WR, but those same kids were also pretty good blockers as well, and that has been a problem for the young Panther wide-outs so far. Defensively, they held their own against two solid opponents so far, but they are susceptible to getting run over by big offensive lines (like AC and Farragut). I don't think OR poses the same threat up front, but neither AC nor Farragut had the skill position talent that OR has. If OR can bottle up Wheeler, I think they can win this game comfortably.
  5. Mavinflight would know, but I think his offers are D2/D3 at this point. His athleticism (and injury history) will likely limit where his offers will come from. Not sure what his academic situation is, but I think his best shot at a D1 offer will be with a service academy (like his former teammate Gavin Noe).
  6. I believe he has a broken ankle. He didn't play against Science Hill. Also a big loss for their defense, as he's probably their best LB.
  7. AC probably won't beat Bearden this week, but they should handle Fulton the following week. The Falcons are pretty thin, and they can't stop anyone. Honestly, at this point, AC is still better than the rest of that region even with Moog out. That entire region is pretty pedestrian this year.
  8. West should handle their business against Farragut. Ads are fundamentally sound, and that will keep them in this one. In the end, I just don't think they have enough fire power to outscore West.
  9. With Moog out, that really changes this AC team. I think this will be close, but Bearden should win, assuming they don't beat themselves.
  10. Mav, I suggest you get some sleep. He's just a high school QB. Many high school QBs don't have great vision and can't go through their progressions. They lock in on WR1 (or the main target on a given play) and let it fly.
  11. Wow. On 4th and 12, Farragut doesn't attempt the 50 yd FG with 22 seconds left. Instead they heave one to the end zone and it's caught. Heartbreak for the Panthers.
  12. It's on diamond clear. I think they have to give that play back to bearden. The lights went out in the middle of the play.
  13. Bearden really blew this one. Up 13-10 with 5 min left, 1st and goal at the 1. Fumbled exchange, and Alcoa recovers. Tornadoes go 99 yards to take the lead. And now the lights are out.
  14. Farragut responds with a long TD run of their own and we're tied again.
  15. And on the very next play, Wheeler breaks off another long TD run. Panthers regain the lead.
  16. Admirals continue to run it down Powell's throat, as they tie it up on the opening drive of the second half.
  17. Powell leads 14-7 at the half. Pretty good game so far. Panthers were in control early, as Wheeler had a long TD run and Rodgers had a really nice TD pass to put Powell up 14-0, but Farragut put together a really nice drive late in the half to cut the lead in half. Admirals were able to run the ball at will on that last drive, so we'll see what adjustments both teams will make. I haven't seen Wheeler on the field since his fumble midway through the first qtr.
  18. You're correct, BT. Lee is working with a few different programs, Bearden being one of them. I heard him talking about it on the Sports Animal a few weeks ago. I'm sure it's all part of promoting Triple F.
  19. William Blount @ Karns moved to 8 Bearden @ Alcoa moved to 730 Elizabethton @ Morristown West moved to 730 Halls @ Gibbs moved to 8 Fulton @ Campbell Co moved to 8 Science Hill @ Anderson Co moved to 8
  20. I believe they turned it over 4 times. One fumble was returned for a TD.
  21. Not sure if I've seen the official announcement yet, but kickoff has been moved to 8pm due to the temperature/heat index forecast.
  22. I know we're only a week in, but that definitely isn't the same AC team.
