  1. It was announced tonight that the game will be played at 7:00 Thursday at Greenbrier. I guess they're trying to avoid the possibility of inclement weather on Friday. Pass the word.....
  2. Yeah, you could tell that he was the type of coach that was going everything out of his players if they were willing to give it. Glad he's back.
  3. My sons played against Macon back from2002 through 2006. I believe Macon had a long-time, well-respected coach during most of this time. He was an older gentleman but he was well respected and knew how to coach and have good team. Then he was just gone. What happened with him? I gained total respect for him him after the Cats handled Macon pretty good in a scrimmage and he came over and spoke to GBs team and said you guys are good, you play with class, and we want to be where you are. They did get better but then he was gone.
  4. Hasn't been a chicken house in Greenbrier in years...
  5. Those were the days bulldog. You're right... you never had a week off. I wish the boys could have played 10 years. Those were some of the most fun times of my life. One is working on his masters at Vandy and the other is a senior there. Coachard is still around. He's helping coach the highschool basketball team and he has one in college, one that's about a year old, and 2 inbetween. His hands are full.
  6. Gosh but those were some good old classic bleachers. 30 years ago they were the Home side when I was in school and I don't even remembe how many years they were considered Home before that. All the GB vs CC games that the 2002 - 2005 team played were mudbaths.
  7. I know I'm an out-of-towner but I remember there being more to it than Perry just leaving because the program was going down. Seems it was the same issue with basketball. Wasn't there some kind of big disagreement between basketball and football and it split the programs?
  8. Portland fans will have to keep in mind that "howdoitknow" aka Catfish, and his team is Cheatham County which Greenbrier has yet to play. Since we beat his almamater this past week, Sycamore, and Catfish is a radio announcer for Cheatham I am pretty sure he hasn't seen Greenbrier play. He's just trying to give Portland some "bulletin board" material to fuel the fire, cause he sure is hoping you guys "pay us back". Now mind you, I am thinking my Cats can pull off a win but coming into Portland is a tough gig. Train whistles, and all the talk about Portland being better this year may be different for some of the new starters for Greenbrier, and Portland can take two different attitudes...a defeated on or a fed up one. Regardless, the Cats are going to come to play and they will play tough....and leave everything on the field. It's just beyond me to imagine Portland being this week. Good luck to both teams.... (Oh, and the followup response from the former poster will be to call me names and put his notorious littel laughing face at the end. It's Classic JJ-style. Keep baiting Cat. he'll be gone by mid-season. I see your Cats winning this one and the younger Cats getting some game experience. I'll go with 28-6 Cats. Portland has a long way to go and the fans dont seem to have the patience to give the new coach time to rebuild a program. Sad, Portland was at one time a feared team. They will be again if they give their new coach some time. If they dont it will be like this every 3 or 4 years
  9. I think this is a game Greenbrier definitely could and should win if they show up expecting to win. Portland has really changed from years past when they used to be a powerhouse. Hopefully they won't pick this week to get back on track.
  10. Believe me, NoDoubt...it was almost this quiet at last weeks game but the Bobcat fans came alive a bit tonight. Made me think, we still have some that alive and kicking...from my vantage point, it seems to be more moms than dads, but hopefully that will change. Seems most of the Coacht'ers have moved on to college or are parents that have moved on to supporting colleges. I don't see the parents of the 04 or 05's and that's when there was alot of talk. Speaking of that...hope your health is better and that you are on the upswing. Bulldog, we miss Page and the smashmouth too....hope you guys do well. Well, maybe not so much in volleyball. Thanks for the kind words. Things are on an upswing, it's just a slow go. Gosh, the win tonight really makes the Creekwood game leave a bad taste in your mouth. Definitely a "W" that we probably could have had. You know... the new bleachers are nice and Bobcat field is impressive to see, but there was something to be said for the former home side.
  11. I guess it's a sign of the times. I don't know if I've ever seen an entire week with hardly any Bobcat posts.
  12. Dude in case you haven't noticed GB played decent defense, only allowing 14 points! Held off a very good QB tailback /option.GB has only 2-3 returning starters if that.Got alot of young guys whom by the way also did very well at the Middle school level. In fact were the first team since your hero's to beat Springfield. Also won your coveted Super Bowl every year in JR Pro. Your posts seem to be antagonistic in nature mainly bragging about players that have moved on to a life after HS football or have not even reached HS and who knows what their future holds. We come to this site to chat on real time about real players and what they might face in the week ahead!Maybe channel your energy to cheering and supporting the players on the field! Chat about what kinda offense/defense the team will have to face and which players to watch TODAY!! Oh and I feel sure the Coach could care less what that dude said and didn't need you to be his personal defender. To argure with someone over nothing only gives such a person valididation! Not sure why you have a sore spot for other Greenbrier teams but it shows. He didn't say anything negative whatsoever about the team and you went off. You say "we come here to chat on real time about supporting the players" but yet that's your first post. Interesting. Always easy to create a new name to vent under. Anything related to HS football can be talked about on this board. As long as someone doesn't start disrespecting players and coaches, which is totally low class, people can say what they want. Most have been posting on this board a lot longer than you and have developed relationships with the other posters. Bulldog is a great guy that's from another school but many from Greenbrier know him personally. Chat about what you want to chat about but don't disrespect other Greenbrier teams because they've had success.
  13. Both games in 2003 were two of the best you'll ever see.
  14. "I'm an eagleville fan but work with a guy that has kids that play at heritage. He said that all the parents were glad that this coach was gone from heritage. he said he treated the kids aweful and used very bad language all the time." So you're hearing something from someone you work with, who heard it from some kids on the team. I'm sure it's accurate. Why post a rumor about someone. I could say that I heard those same kids were lazy and had bad attitudes but now that wouldn't be right either. I imagine Garza forgot 2004.
  15. Not sure what CW has now but they are usually one of those teams cut in the Dickson Cty mold. Tough and hard to do much with. I'm sure this year's team will be no different. Probably will be much different and tougher than Springfield. The Cats need to keep the momentum.
  16. Yeah. He came from Heritage. Should be a great addition.
  17. Great job Cats. On the road, new coach, rivalry game, and a team that thinks they should beat you and you put Springfield down. You really need to build of this and keep it going.
  18. Did Greenbrier scrimmage Harpeth today or is it tomorrow?
  19. If the Cats lost to ER so be it. It's early in the year. They'll bounce back. But from all my years from watching scrimmage games from jr pro into college, the team that wins knows who they are.
  20. The Springfield opener worries me. New coach and new program trying to make a statement, beat their county rival, and start the program off right doesn't bode well for Greenbrier. The Cats need to hit this one in mid-season form.
  21. What were the circumstances? He's been a long-time poster.
  22. According to the Tennessean, the new director was voted in almost immediately. That has to tell you something about the guy. When all of his peers are ready to name him that quickly, he has to be a stand up guy. They probably were wanting him to be there anyway.
  23. I'm not up on all the names but I know Greenbrier is losing several play makers. The Cats are one of teams that have fallen into that rebuilding rut and it's coming along slow. The new region alignment should be interesting.
  24. Greenbrier has never been a school that drew a lot of attention because they never had a whole lot of recruits. There were some but the coaches never pushed it a lot. We did most of ours on our own and then it kind of took over for itself. It's definitely going to be the larger schools that get the attention.
  25. Thanks for the compliment. Vanderbilt has been recruiting Zack this year and I think Coach Fowler was at his house a few weeks ago but letters and visits are easy for them to do. Putting their offer on the table is what matters.
