  1. Boatwright is working out at Austin East. JOhn said he was at spring workouts today and yesterday. I think that is false.
  2. Mention the Tarrant kid at church. Graham said he is a smart kid has good arm. Very good leader. Has a transfer from knox carter that is a sophomore. Charles Watts the running back and kick returner may be the quarterback. With coach jones moving on Graham is sticking with the spread option. I think he is going to do more of the offense now and that is what he knows. Like 2001 season. Watts has a great arm (former baseball player) and very smart according to Graham and gives them the dual threat they need. But he will be a senior. Each year Graham has ben coach he has had a different QB. That is why the Lopez thing hurt. Graham is very excited about a couple of running backs; Jared Chitown Neal, Marcus matthews, and Jamarcus Davis. Graham got a call from a Virginia Tech and Coloradi coach Sunday evening to ask about De DJ Roberts. From what I heard this not from graham about the TSSAA ad, the former AD wqas told from someone to do it. He took a lot for putting it on the line. Austin East rules are a little different from every other school. The AD was told that everyone must have a chance to apply for the job. So he put the jobs online. From what I hear they are pulling the Ad. Coach Mitchell and Coach Gaham do a great job but never get credit for the job they do except from rival coaches from what I hear. I heard from a Fulton caoch that Graham has called and wished them good luck each year they made it past 3rd round each round. I have personally heard coach Mitchell commend and praise coach wright. I think these guys right now are concentrating on adjsuting to the new AE. Good luck to AE.
  3. I read these post and come to figure out one thing. Most of you are not posting or have this great concern about the state of oak Ridge football. It appears that it is addressed more at Stevens or the power that be that went away from the decision that you wanted. I remember when this process was going on. Out of everybody that applied to say stevens was not qualified or didn't have a proven record is just not true. The Knoxville media loved and considered him one of the best coaches and his program one of the best in east tennessee. Not to mention he is a home town kid. It must be very hurtful to go through what this man is going through. Finally to land a job at the place you love. i can remember people in east knoxville complaining about how Stevens would always brag and talk about oak ridge football. (Oak Ridge is the one program AE never beat... a lot of AE fans have bad taste about OR). He tried to build his program at Ae the way it was at OR. Remember Stevens is a coaching product of Joe Gaddis and a player from the great Oak Ridge Football Program. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> But you cowards get on a computer and spread negative talk about a guy who may be doing the best he can. Lets look at some truths. oak Ridge has been to the state championship twice in the last 25 years or more. Twice. Just Twice. That's laughable to think that you are just some great powerhouse. The teams they lost to this year were very good teams. We talk about Lussier and Gaddis tenure at Oak Ridge then east tennessee 5A football stunk. Only team worth a count was Kingsport which they beat Oak Ridge every year. Then would not make it past the third round. Remember Twice to the state championship. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> What coach do you want. Gaddis.. Remember you all ran him out of there. Lussier in 2002 you all was ready to run him out. The coach from Chattanooga turned it down. Rankin didn't even put his name in but took a job at a 2A school. Quarles never considered it.Maybe Coatney at Fulton. But he allows thugs to play oh no oak Ridge brass couldn't allow that. Who could take you to the promise land. Oh yeah Coach gray. No knox county school will allow him to coach there anymore. Every place he has been he has left with a lot of controversy and caused problems for the head coach. So ole dad give me a name or two for guys to take oak ridge back to the promise land. that they been to twice in the last 25 years. Twice :roflol
  4. Defense should be pretty good. A lot of the basketball players have decided to play. (Jones twins, Travei Pryor). Have transfer from Chicago that is really fast. Also Jamarcus Davis and the Pelcher kid are back on the team. Out of middle school they thought the Davis kid was going to be the next Albert Harris. He is that talented. He has been working hard in the off season is what I hear. Line seems to have a lot of depth. Looking at them running the other day they looked bigger than last year up front. haven't seen the kids in pads or play but they look good. Transfer defensive lineman from Indiana that is suppose to be a stud. but once again haven't seen him play. Incoming freshmen are very talented. Also a transfer LB from Oak Ridge that looks like a stud. I have seen him play for oak Ridge, he is very physical. Questions are if the Dean kid can last the whole year at QB. As always the offensive front? And surprinsingly the DB. Most importantly what happens with their school. They should pick up a lot of kids due to the rezoning.
  5. I have to agree. i think Fulton special teams although not terrible you can tell they don't put a lot of focus on it. Ithas caused them in the past. But then again 3 out of 5 state championships isn't bad. But for a program that has been that successful it is surprising it hasn't come back to hurt them more. I can say they have great return game. They cover kick-offs well also. But field goal/extra point and punt teams have problems. But if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.
  6. OR81 I went to the track meet today. Didn't know stevens coached track. Did talk to Kwayu at a UT practice. He does seem very excited about his team. He did lose his O-Coordinator but AE does a good job adjusting. He told a referee that they will not change much from what they did before. Also the changes they made were changes they were going to make with the old O coordinator so it was already in plans. He seems to think he is going to get his friend and defensive coordinator Robert Gillard from Memphis Ridgeway. People in the coaching circles know Coach Gillard is a very good LB coach and coordinator. He had several college offers. Graham said he thought Gillard was going to go with Joe Lee Dunn to New Mexico State. But Gillard called him and told him he will be in knoxville. Graham and Gillard are close friends. He tried to get him when Stevens was coaching and of course when he got the head coaching job. I was standing with him at the UT practice when Gillard called saying he got a call from knox county schools human resource. I met coach gillard at UT camp. He has coached at the UT camp. Coach Fulmer has a lot of good things to say about him. Graham has a lot of good friends that coach. Could you imagine if he could pull another one of his buddies (Chris Beatty-former head coach of Landstown high in virginia beach and coach of Percy Harvin). i doubt graham could pull him, he is now the WR coach at West Virginia University. I heard a little about the Oak Ridge kid. Hear he is built like a truck. Also some of the kids graham wouldn't let play last year due to want to be gangbangers have seemingly got it right. also he got all his kids from Vine coming to AE. Their super midget team was one of the best they have ever had. several of those kids will play as freshmen. I think this group is as good as Freeney-Hamilton-ROGAN class. He is also very excited about a kid they called Chi-town, Jared Neal. He is a transfer RB from Chicago. Since hearing about him I have been reading about him in track. He has the fastest time in knoxville in the 100 meters to date. I hear he is around 185 pounds. I have recently became a fulton fan also. Don't worry they will be as good as they were last year. I remember everybody written the falcons off but they booked rooms in murfreesboro again. They may lose some coahces due to the new reconstruction plan. But as long as the blacks and buck remain they will be OK.
  7. Good friend with one of your so called great. I work with his mother at the plant. I asked her what does Kwayu think about th estuff about Stanton. Mrs. Graham said Gooch (Kwayu Graham "Oak Ridge's own" head coach at AE) said he feels embarrassed about the things going on with Stanton. He thinks it is ashamed that you would do your own hometown kid that way. I never understood why Graham (who we loved to watch play at Oak Ridge) never came back when Stevens came. His mother told me Kwayu father's history at Oak Ridge and something about when Kwayu was the Atom's coach and was accussed of getting all the kids to quit the middle school teams. That hurt him because all Graham was doing was trying to keep some kids out of the streets. He had came back from college and was trying to do the right things. He never forgot that and from what his mom said he told Stanton before hand that what is happening now will happen. I can understand his frustration. I am going to give my perspective on the Stanton Stevens situation. Stanton came form Austin East were he won a state Championship and had several undefeated seasons. Stanton was very confident when he got to Oak Ridge and I think that confidence rubbed off on the team. Everyone says that he won with Lussier kids. The question I have is why did Gaddis only win 1 State championship when he had the talent to win several. Coach lussier (w/the grey guy I hear is the middle man in this stuff) didn't even get to the championship and he had the talent to win it. When you look at the records of the junior highs or middle schools they haven't been as dominant as they used to be when I moved back to east tennessee from the service and started working for the plant. I can remember in 85 when both robertsville and jefferson were undefeated. I can remember going to watch Curtis Booker vs Shawn Summers in 1988 play in the robertsville and jefferson game. I can remember the Booker kid was virtually unstoppable at Robertsville. This year Robertsville won it. That tells me that the talent pool is getting back. I think Stevens and his staff got complacent after just getting to the championship, I think the 06 team I watched in several games just wasn't that good, I think the negativity that was/is being spread on these sites and around the community influences the kids (you tell them their leader does not knwo what he is doing then they will start questioning him), I think there is turmoil in house, I think it is tough to play an end of the year schedule like they have, I think some programs had the best teams they are going to have (WB, Farragut, Bearden - you just have to live in knoxville to know that the great class at bearden and farragut were seniors this year. Also we went to watch AE freshmen and JV beat the crap out of farraguts freshmen and JV. So I don't think they will be as good the next couple of years) I will say this you can't do things at Oak Ridge that you were able to do at Austin East. But in my opinion and many people that support stanton he needs to get people around him who will tell him what they think (professionally), keep what is in house in house, and be on the same agenda with the coach (the head coach must have an agenda beyond personal gains). I also think that although his staff from what I hear will ne a good one, they are all young and despite their knowledge I just don't think they will step up to the head coach. The only older coach on the staff, first of all coached Stanton and should be the one to counsel Stanton. Don't know if he does or doesn't. What I hear he is the coach that leaks out all the negativity. That would have to hurt Stanton to realize the coach that you respect is the one dogging you. It only take 1 cell to cause cancer. Once cancer starts it spreads. This is what I hear or that is going around. It is said a great man has a greater wife, a great leader has greater men under him therefore a great coach has greater coaches. Look at Maryville. A lot of there coaches can run their on program. And plus they all work together. I am pretty sure they don't agree on everything but you never know it. A successful season will close a lot of ears and eyes. When you are successful you just don't notice the negative. When you come in already under suspicion the magnifying glass and earphones are on you. Good luck to the wildcats but let's just work together for the kids. And sir pettus you have to be who I think you are I grew up with your dad and mom. I really wish you understood the history of Oak Ridge. Talk to your grandfather man just talk to your grandfather.
  8. Jerry Colquitt - QB Universityof Tennessee; Carolina Panthers Michael Caldwell - MTSU All American; NFL retiree Kwayu Graham - 2 X All-state WR; great DB and return guy Johnny Williams - One of the top LB in OR history Shawn Summers -this list did win 1 just 1 Richard Howard - UT; and Carson Newman - one of the top linemen in the South Lloyd Jones -Miss Juco; great TE and DE Dennis Friendly-speed LB Mike Underwood - great leader Cory Booker Rock Hardin James Booker Shawn Bohannon - University of Alabama Jason McCaddley - University of Alabama; current NFL player Mike Gipson - University of Florida I can go on. But still won it once and only once. Didn't go back until Stevens got there.

  10. Great season Fulton Falcons. You surprised a lot of people. I really admire how you guys did not give up at the end. Great season, Great playoff run and great game both Fulton and David Lipscomb. A classic. Good luck to everyone next year.
  11. Me and my boys from Oak Ridge was at both games. Matter of fact I attended the last 5 AE games. After they lost to Fulton they went out and shook the kids from Fulton hands. I watch Coach Graham and he always is the first out to meet the other coach in all 5 games. When Ae has lost they kids shook hands cried and walked off. I didn't hear a problem at Kingston or Seymour. I wasn't at the first Catholic game at AE but I heard that after the game Catholic student body ran to the middle of the field took their flag and planted in the middle of the field. I heard this from a number of people. Being from Oak ridge I work with parents who kids play for Catholic they agreed. No one said anything about it. AE players did not respond to it they shook hands and jogged off the field. When Ae lost Fulton they shook hands and jogged off the field. At the Catholic game after the game a bunch of people stormed the field. It was a great game. Once again I seen graham head to the middle of the field. When you watch AE players "most" of them continued to the walk out and shake hands. Fans and students were doing most of the jumping and a lot of the students were from Webb. Catholic players to offense to it. I can remember when AE played Fulton Graham's first year and he had his team go straight to the locker room after the game. Him and his coaches shook the hands of Fulton coaches and their players. He took a lot of flack for that. Now the Truth" That weekend before at a party on Cumberland Ave. Fulton players jumped one of AE players at the club. there was an AE student who had a gun pulled on him the next night by a Fulton player. And finally, Tyrone Cobb (who is good friends with some of AE players and coach Graham) brought a letter to Austin eAst telling them how he was going to tear them up. It was a honest joke that the administration at Austin East took serious. They spoke to Graham and with him being a first year coach they did not want something negative to pop off. So he decided that he will first send his players off to the locker room and then allow them to comeback out to shake the hands of their frineds. That night a lot of players from Fulton was at AE football party and they all got along great. Now back to AE and Fulton, a lot of things have been said about coming out on the field. 2 things I noticed. 1st most of AE players went toward the sideline after running through. Second 3 Ae players started waving hands to the stands thats when Fulton team came out and personally I think Fulton players have a right to defend their home turf. I seen coaches from AE that were already on the sideline keep the players on the sideline that was there. The players that went back to the middle I seen the white coach and graham and some of the other players pushing kids back to their sideline. I think those things happen when two rivals play in games that big. As a fan it got me ready for the fireworks. Fulton had it going and I think that should be important. So many times on this board yousee a lot of negative about Austin East. (no coaching, lack of discipline, etc. etc.) Have you ever wondered why so many of their kids go off to college from the football team. I have a cousin that plays for Oak Ridge and one that plays for Harriman. I asked college recruiters about AE. He said that their kids have everything in order. That they do a great job of getting kids qualified for school. After reading some of this I decided to talk to the AD at AE. He said that AE football players GPA was the 3rd highest among all organizations at the school. This includes chess clubs, orchrestra, band, other sports and etc etc. I notice that not a lot of AE people get on these sites. Since perception is everything and perception is weighed by the masses AE football is perceived in a negative light. I also spoke with college coaches about some other schools in the area. They tell me good players none of them have grades. But before you judge look at it yourself. Good luck to all the east tennessee team. I have to pull for Fulton ( also Fulton is the one good program we beat this year) being from east tennessee but I am glad PC will get a chance. I am pretty sure they hear the negativity about lack of coaching and being undiscipline also.
  12. graham has bever beaten Catholic. But beat Fulton his first year as ahead coach at Austin East 38-33.
  13. Thank you for enlightening us, but I think you are wrong in the number. Josh Hinch, Ashford Johnson, Charlie McCaleb all went to an NAIA school in Kansas, although NAIA and Division 2 don't neccesarily have athletic scholarships they do set aside money from the athletic program. My buddy coach Dragg was at the signing and seen their grant in aid and they recieved football money. Also Jaren Troutman who was offered scholarships from TSU, UT Martin (withdrew his commitment when cade thompson transferred) and Jacksonville State, also signed to play with a NAIA school. He too receives football money which may not say football money. If you know his family he wouldn't go there unless everything was paid for. Not to mention Anthony Anderson. That is 5. Sterlin Hensly was offered a football scholarship to SCState but decided to go to UT on a academic scholarship. I knew that others were offered from the football programs but the offers were for the smaller schools that didn't have things like fraternities, etc. But I knew at one time they had 9 kids offered money form football programs. That still is great. And like you said these guys still have to make the grades to have a chance to get in school and to get scholarship money. Those scholarships have to have criteria. Also Fulton has had some great kids there that have continued with their education. 3 State championships, they are doing something right. Usually when you are good at one thing you usually take care of business in everything.
  14. I know this is late but I just found out that Graham suspended Montgomery the first quarter and started a freshmen QB (the future is what they call him on the east side) Brandon Lopez. Montgomery showed up late for meetings is what I heard. Graham was very impressed with Scott County before and after the game. Told coach Gillum to keep it up as they were walking off the field. Was very impressed with their scheme. Thinks if they can get some confidenc can be very dangerous. Graham said this when asked about the speed factor. He said you don't need speed you need 4 yards on offense and less than 3 on defense, protect the ball and be on their side of the 50 more than their on your side of the 50.
  15. That's funny. Austin East Football team since 1999 has had over 96% graduation rate with anly 6% of them receiving special ed diploma. Also Austin East has no pass no play policy. Last year they had several players that missed 3 games due to this policy including the first round of the play-offs. You are not allowed to play until that F becomes a C. Not to mention Austin East signed 9 guys to college athletic scholarships. And averages 5 each year. Not to mention the number of their seniors that go on to college on their on. That requires more than just grades also ACT/SAT test scores. I am pretty sure Fulton can say the same thing. In all of the extracurricular activities at the school they ranked #3 in GPA ( includes chess club, art club, golf and cross country). AE head coaches encourages kids to try to test out of special education and receive a regular ed diploma. They don't start practice until 5pm due to study hall after school. As far as drugs, I don't think AE has a problem. I am pretty sure if their staff or administration new about it they will deal with it. You don't hear much about AE players getting in trouble for drug charges. Despite how the news tries to depict AE, they just don't have a lot of these problems. Go to the school you will see something totally different than portrayed. All high schools have problems and kids that make the wrong decsions, I am pretty sure AE and Fulton does. From what I know and heard about the type of coaches they have, it will not be tolerated.
  16. McAllister is at UTC as far as I know. Bishop is not at CNC, does not go to college is what someone tells me. A little league coach did say that Graham was trying to get back in school. (CNC or Lane college in Jackson) but he said Bishop must take care of his end first. He is tall. 6'4 Montgomery. Great arm but from what I heard can run well. The guys on the side said he ran the ball welll against Knox Central when pressured and in intersquad game rushed for over 100 yards. The guys there are very high on him. When I watched the other day he does have great arm but made some mistakes with reads and forced some throws.
  17. Just heard Science Hill will scrimmage Austin East out of Knoxville on August 3.
  18. I can rememebr a several years ago when the school board was going to shut down the city schools and make 1 school. I got a chance to go by AE to watch workouts yesterday. When I got there I got to see what that team would look like. AE has always had their kids and kids from the community that go off to college come there to workout. I watched AE players match up against some of Knoxville's best in one on one and seven on seven. Imagine this Anthony McAllister, WR- Kelvon Yancey, QB-Jaren Troutman, WR -Anthony Anderson, WR- Maurice Davis, WR- Arsenio Moulden, RB- Ashford Johnson, LB/RB P.J. Moore from Austin East, WR/DB Elliot Bishop (AE/Fulton), WR - Pitchford from Fulton, Chad Jackson from Central and Wooliford from West. AE did well. I was surprised they were able to cover those guys. Don't get me wrong the old head made some plays. Elliot Bishop and Chad Jackson need to be playing ball somewhere they are that good. Ae looks as though they are going to be as athletic as ever. They seem to be a little more confident and faster. But it was nice to see the athletes on that field. Funny thing was Graham was coaching and teaching the old heads as much as his team. Troutman made a wrong read and AE DB picked it and Graham got on him. Me and my buddy both laughed. Just imagine if all those teams were combined. Bring Hoover on.
  19. I agree with ruse. you can't count out fulton. They are at the top. Someone brought up that Fulton is a program not a team. When you win 3 of the last 4 it will take some time before you have to worry about rebuilding. AE should continue to improve as will they head coach. He is on just his 3rd year with the first year getting the job in mid july. He has made some major coaching changes and from what I hear is investing oin his youth in the community. He worked a youth camp at a church a couple of weeks ago with his coaching staff. And from what I hear he is facilitating baby roadrunner camp in july. As long as coach Black is coaching the line Fulton Oline will get better and better. Fulton is a great defensive team. Offensively they can big play you but they are pretty conservative. Fulton wins with great defense intensity. Until teams can figure that out they are still the team to beat. IMO.
  20. First of all I doubt AE will get 300+ students. Also AE actual numbers are a lot lower than advertised. AE actually could be 2A team if you take the actual numbers. But if the increase is over a certain percentage theystill would have to move up. Also AE, Oak Ridge, Maryvlle, Alcoa and now add Fulton traditionally are the programs of East Tennessee. But like someone said AE is not scared but Maryville right now are the Kings. Ae can say they have beaten Fulton. Fulton can say they have beaten Alcoa. Alcoa can say they have beaten Fulton. But none of them can say they have beaten MHS. Until then they are the Kings of East Tennessee (Tennessee) football. I know as a fan I would love to watch MHS play any of those teams. Oh Yeah add Ooltewah, Kingsport, Catholic, and Webb.
  21. I guess you can call me the new one. I was with the old boorelly, baa baa and coop when they started on coacht in 2000 that is why we all know the code. The old boorelly I think is on the east coast now. I know he was in fort somethng in washington state. then went across seas. But from what i hear he is back in the states. He probably would post more for oak ridge or alcoa now that stevens is there. but he is a graham fan. He played against us in little leagues. It was just a matter of time. Stevens said one time that he should have gotten rid of those guys when he knew he was leaving. But Stevens did say Graham will do it in time. Talked to AD said they interviewed another coach from New Orleans. He was a former head coach for a private school. His wife has moved recently to area. He currently is the dean of the school and retiring from coaching. He wants to come and teach and coach without all the responsibility. He met Graham at a coaching clinic and liked him a lot. Coincidentally his wife was transferred to east tennessee. The coach from Memphis Ridgeway graham is trying to get name is Robert Gillard.
  22. Graham tried to secure Pearl Cohn but PC was still in playoffs at that time and principal didn't want coach considering schedules. PC eventually lost to Fulton. Coach called AE back after the break but left message with Administrator who didn't get message to graham that PC was interested. Graham by then got Webb who agreed to play them home both years on contract. Graham said it was financially motivated. Make sense. Webb should get a good crowd 2 years in a row vs having to travel to nashville the next year. Only problem is Oak ridge plays Fulton the same week.
  23. Your exactly right TadVol. I know of the head coach at AE so I support him and Stevens at Oak Ridge. Have been very impressed with Fultons program in the last 5 years. It would be great if all these teams could play against each other. Great football. AE is probably a year or so away from getting the bodies to really be challenging. I think the zone change in AE case is good. I mean AE for most of these kids was the closest school to them. There was kids going 15 miles are so to Gibbs and Carter. Also AE will get some of the kids on Chilhowee and Brooks Rd. They are move affluent neighborhoods which will bring more resources and more parental involvement. This is not to demeanor the parents already there but I believe it from what I hear.
  24. I am not the original. He from what I understand is back in the east coast now after being out west. He is lucky his butt is not in Iraq or abu gr??/ how ever you spell it. I am not as close (family) as he is with coach graham. I see him every once in a while in Oak Ridge. Graham doesn't talk much about football so I don't get info from him. I hear he is working hard brokering deals with his kids as far as college recruiting. Last time he was in Oak Ridge he was telling some buddies that he will have a signing day for kids who didn't sign on signing day( they were asking about Troutman). AE actually have several kids who committed to teams but has not leaked to the press yet. Graham wanted them to have their day. Like I said I don't know him ... let me say he doesn't know me as well as I know the the real coacht boorelly (which was the nickname of coach grahams other cousin Elker Jones the actual real real boorelly). But I do have ears in east knoxville and still friends on the staff. As far as QB Mark Montgomery 6'4 180 is the guy returning. Made tremendous improvement the last 2 years. He has a great arm. He throws as well if not better than Troutman. I actually watched him twice. A coworker of mine whom son plays for Anderson County was impressed with him at a passing camp at Tennessee Tech. What he has yet to prove is Troutman's knowledge, saavy and leadership. He did a great job JV last two years. He does have good speed and does not hesitate to run. Kenny Jones (LB) is returning. Matter of fact they loose 3 guys on defense. All of the LBs will return. Hopefully Brandon Johnson gets his act together and will add a lot of depth to the LB corp. Kenny has went to several combines (US Army in San Antonio) and has posted great times. You will see him run the ball more this year. Tre Smith is probably the most explosive and exciting player to return. Blazing speed and quickness. Webb is the first game. and I think the rest of the schedule is correct.
  25. I hear the same thing. But AE will stay 2-3a. There has already been talk about it in Nashville. Gibbs and Seymour will balk at it but after the probelms the last 4 years I think they are going to do it that way. The good thing about it is Coach Graham and Coach Coatney have pretty good relationship and respect for each other so I think they will continue to play each other. What would be region 2 AAAA be? That then would be the toughest region in the state.
