  1. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Luke's family..... from the Forrest Middle School baseball team.
  2. Most of this thread people have compared Minor and Hayes, and it's not fair to these great young men. They have a different pitching style. But the biggest difference is McKenzie's strategy worked against us on Friday, and ours may or may not have worked if we played again. But that too, has already been discussed for "there is no tomorrow for the Rockets". Well there is no tomorrow for 2 fine young men who both have poured their heart and soul in to what is now their alma mater. If the two are to be compared well compare their character and you'll probably find the same person. They both have unreal work ethics (you don't get where they are without it) academically are sound (Minor is attending Vanderbilt), they have heart (we all witnessed that on Friday), and both showed awesome sportsmanship....you know the one where it's as important to know how to win as it is to know how to loose (what we've all spent our lives teaching our children). I don't know about ya'll but I'd be proud to call either one "son". But as the thread earlier stated "is the sport for parents or for kids"....we need to remember these two young men have given their lives to baseball...Hayes is feeling the reward for his work (deservingly), but Minor is feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.
  3. I have to question your quote "Forrest players had run their pie holes." This group of young men have worked hard ( as have the ones from McKenzie) they are good kids who were happy to meet their #1 goal of reaching the A State Championship game but to say they ran their pie holes, I disagree. What you have heard has been adults and fans of this great sport, some from Chapel Hill some from other places discussing the future of this team, but I doubt you have heard a word spoken from one of these players. Congratulations to the players, parents, and fans from McKenzie. Hayes pitched an awesome game. To Drew Hayes, congratulations for the opportunity to play for Bethel and what an honor to play for you dad. To the Forrest Rockets --- once again our young athletes have made our small town proud. Congratulations Seniors and remember no matter where life takes you - your biggest fans can be found right here at home in our small town of Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Thanks for your hard work.
  4. The cost for today's game was $6 per session. I asked about a pass and was told there wasn't one this year (or maybe I asked someone that didn't really know). Also, if you have small children be prepared everyone over the age of 1 pays full price.
  5. Please don't think that all Forrest fans are cocky. We're very proud of our girls. I personally have waited many many years for the opportunity to cheer (loudly) for a team from Chapel Hill in a state championship game. Jackson County proved to be tough and it was a game you hated to see anybody lose. Both teams played hard to reach their goal, and they both did....to play for the championship in Murfreesboro. As far as the gold hair, I noticed it but I just thought it was girls having fun, enjoying themselves, and proud to be playing for the gold. I'm thrilled to learn it was to represent their younger fans.
  6. I agree with fresh, our girls have earned the right to play for the gold ball. This is history for our school, community, and Forrest alumni. Thank you girls. We should be talking about their efforts and not Mr. Bishop. But he is a classy guy, and only made the decision he felt was best for our school. (After all, he'll never make a decision everybody agrees with. It comes with the job.) For years, Forrest has prided itself in upholding sportsmanship, and if Mr. Bishop felt this was a lack of - then we need to support his decision, and show-up tonight and continue to support our girls, in a positive way. This is about those girls, a dream, and memories that will last them a lifetime. Good luck Lady Rockets!
  7. Congratulations Coach Reasonover and the Lady Rockets. You have made our small town proud, as Rockets defeated the Raiders from Richland 42 - 26. Good Luck in the state against RBS.
  8. Middle School baseball has proven to be a success at Forrest. This is our second year. The first year we had 21 players (if my memory serves me right) tryout. We now have 15 on the team. We are fortunate to have a coach with much baseball knowledge, and has taken the players to a higher level. Some of the kids on the team will never get the opportunity to play HS ball, and Middle School gives them to chance to play for their school. The team gets the support of school officials, community, and parents. The competition has proven to be tough, but the players are learning more and more with every game won or lost. Most of these boys will extend their season right into rec. ball, but don't play or practice rec ball until the season is finished. Yes, I say Middle School baseball has been good for everyone involved at Forrest Middle School. Good luck to any school trying to start a new program, it wasn't easy but well worth the effort.
  9. I agree with Rocketdad, it should be a great year for the lady Rockets. However, we will be without starting infielder Leanne Richardson. Leanne was a solid fielder at first or third, and was dependable at bat. Her presence will be missed. Good luck Lady Rockets!

    FORREST

I only know of 1 player that has quit and my understanding is that she has decided to concentrate on basketball. There maybe others that didn't return but as always as players start to get older their interest in other things grow work, school, boys etc. I don't think these girls have quit the team for team reasons. Just personal. As far as their coaches the girls on the team love and respect both and as a parent I am very pleased with the job they both do. Not only on the field but off. Keep up the hard work girls. Your community love and support you.
  11. Forrest lost a very hard fought game that went into OT. Keep playing hard Rockets and the wins will come.
  12. Having graduated from Forrest, I have always found pride in our sportsmanship win or lose. I like to see the students attend and get involved in the game. However, I don't like taunting ..... by the student section or the players... either to the other teams players or their students. TheCrew stated that Jamar's tech came the refs calling him for taunting the other player.... and you corrected them by saying "the crew" (the student section) were the ones doing the taunting. Are you proud of this? I congratulate the Rockets on a Great start and as all alumni are very proud of their hard work. I think the best team will win and fans should not have to lower themselves to taunting in order to help with the victory. Don't get me wrong. I am glad the students are attending but I think we can have a cheering section that cheers for our team, not against the other and without taunting. I want other teams to know us by our sportsmanship. Keep it up Rockets.
  13. Hi...Coach Helton....Congrats on your teams victory! Good luck the rest of the season.
  14. Chapel Hill won over Cornersville. Sorry, I forgot the final score. They are 4-0. Great start Rockets....Keep up the good work.
  15. Congratulations Moore Co!!!!! Good Luck as you advance. Your friends from 11A support you all the way. Also, Good luck to Abby for Miss B'ball. I've enjoyed watching you the past few years.....you will be missed.
