Because a lot of kids are playing on summer ball teams for thier schools. They have always played it the 1st week in August and only had a problem in one state! Take a stab at which state????? I feel one way and you obviously feel another, we each have an answer and the sad part is we are both right. That is America!! I truly hope that in the future no one else has to go through this kind of problem and that the TSSAA will eventually change the rule. Of course I also wish for world peace.

YES! We would have had our day in court (so to speak) and the Dog Pound would have had a fundraiser to cover the costs! Who knows .... maybe the hearing would have opened up some minds so that other athletes in the future get to play, although I rather doubt Aflac will EVER visit Tennessee again! As humble and kind as Sonny is, I have no doubt he would have gladly spent $1000 so that the rule might get changed, knowing full well it might not change his status, but it could open doors for other kids in years to come.

Would that require all schools paying $1000 for them to meet and look at the rule? That would be a nice payraise for someone!! While they take the time to go over the rules ... kids that thought the TSSAA was a governing body that enforced rules to help them compete on a national level, is actually taking that away from them by enforcing rules that are antiquated. It is embarrassing that all other 37 kids have rules for the modern day and a kid with the talent level of Sonny's is sitting there watching them play! I am so sorry that the TSSAA has let one of our states atheletes down! They work so hard to compete in events such as this. I know how disappointed he is, his family thought they were doing the right thing by keeping the TSSAA informed, only to be let down. Maybe he should have just played and then sat out his punishment, but now they will crucify this young man if he tries to play!! Tennessee is going to look more backwards than ever on August 11th when they show Sonny Gray sitting on the bench and explain why!

Sonny was told today that "until he plays in the game and has something to appeal there is nothing he can do" As it stand now he will not be playing Aug 11th in a game he deserves to be a part of!!! Way to go T$$AA!!!!

Too bad he lives in the only state that has a problem with this game and his eligibility. Wonder how T$$AA would feel if they were getting a cut of the gate??

I had always heard Smyrna was a "classless" team, these guys moved the bar up several notches in the classless department. Too bad all that Germantown money can't buy you just a little bit of class. HORRIBLE ATTITUDES that started with the HC. Good job Dogs ... enjoyed hanging out with you for a few extra weeks!
