  1. Believe what you want to believe, but coach Flatt would never and has never publicly (esp. on Tv or radio), called another team fair and definately would never call his own team great. Well, maybe with the exception of his 88 team, lol. Even if he thought another team was fair and his was great, he is way to smart a coach to give his opp. the fuel that those remarks would give. As for walking off the field without the silver ball, he felt that the situation might get out of control and he did what he thought was best for his players. His job as a coach is to protect his team, even if the threat is real or preceived. When your the best, there are always those that want to bash you and your character. Coach Flatt is Class and so is BA. MLREB, no BA has not won vs. Maryville. Talk about living in the past, 76-78. BA has never backed down from a challenge and they play in a very tough class. Maryville would not have 6 out of ten if they played in that class. In fact, Mary is relieved that BA is not in thier class anymore because Mary's last one might have been in 78. By the way, MLREB, how many rings you polishing? BA, 35 years, 21 finals. Pretty impressive. Vivat Veritas, Let truth prevail.
  2. Fool? I have probably forgot more football than you know, I do not need a pass. Yes, in 88 we were better than 28pts. The best team BA has ever had and proud to say that, earned it. 7th in usa and 4 on espn. We did not know what losing was and even when we played bad (very, very rare), we found a way. Starters played 50% of most games and Maryville would have been the same
  3. Hey Mr. Math, If I played Alcoa in '88', your right I was'nt around in '76'. Maryville has a great program and I will not deny you that, but in '76' BA had only been a school for 6 yrs. Yes, BA won A state in '74', but they were still a realitively new school. Yes, Maryville had early success vs. BA. Wish I could have played against them in my day. Would not have been a contest. As for the current, I'll take BA over Maryville 8 out of 10.
  4. I did not say I got 2 rings vs. Alcoa, 1st was vs. Austin East my 2nd was the following yr vs. Alcoa. BA was in AA.
  5. Are you talking about the thursday night game during Hurricane Ivan when Jp2 only completed one pass?
  6. O.K little leaguer, Let's go back to Jr. Pro, Jr. High, whatever. You say "YOU" beat him, then you say "YOUR TEAM". Maybe your team was good and his team was not. For you to say " YOU BEAT HIM" is probably not correct. If YOU lined up against him, you probably got burned. Why didn't you play against him last yr? Did you quit? Or maybe your Father Ryan name is misleading. Anyway, he sure lit them up and they are one of the GREAT EIGHT. Are they not? You are all over MBA,have you transfered there, yet still use the Father Ryan name? His stats vs MBA were not bad. You say he would be average vs 5A or D2 AAA, but there is one very important fact you are missing. If he did play in either of those classes, he would not be playing alone. He would be running, catching, returning, etc.. behind 5A or D2 AAA players as well. So, who knows,,,, you? Just open up the sports page or turn on your T.V, then YOU will see. Whoa, " IT'S ALMOST FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEEEEEE".
  7. Mike Morehouse from Brentwood Academy finished 3rd three times in the mid 80's. He was a great technition and very smart. He just couldn't win the big one.
  8. [/b][/i] Really, man handle Coffey? You mean the same way he man handled Meridith or the way he just destroyed Lettner? What were those man handling scores? Pretty tight huh? Yes, just dominating. Oh, you must be referring to the way he man handled Dempsy, no my bad, that was Coffey. Look, Reveiz did what he had to and took the gold. Congrats on a great season this year and last. Good luck to the kid in the future. As for the man handling, I don't think so. Reveiz did not man handle in his semis or the finals. Now he is gone, and we will never know. However, this time next year, YOU will still be looking for someone, anyone that can beat Coffey. Again, I don't think so..............NEXT!
  9. How did Minwell do at the duals? What wt. class did he wrestle and what were his scores?
  10. Blaster, here is a little help #1- No Bateman and coffey have not wrestled #6- No one in Tn has beat Coffey the last 2 yrs.(lost last yr and this yr in battles with 2 time and most likely 3 time Ky state champ that is ranked top 20 in the nation.) #7- As stated in an earlier post, Coffey stuck Henley(SH) and Evans(WB), both in the first.
  11. First off, don't try and school me on 5A or anything else. I'm old school, when there were districts, regions and then state. There were no divisions, the best meant the best. Again, I asked you for the 5 and you only give me a possible 1. Who are your 5 in D1 that could beat Coffey? Zero in D1 or in Tn for that matter have beat Coffey last year or this year. He does not always wrestle the same guys, that is why his team went to FL. and Ky. He destroyed Henley(SH) and Evans(WB) and they are ranked in the top 7 or so in D1. It is unfortunate that there are 2 divisions and these guys won't face each other. Back to the Dempsy form Ryan match, granted a win is a win, but no matter how you look at it, 8-7 is pretty tight. Again, Coffey did not leave anything to chance, he stuck Dempsy in the first at Ryan. Since they will not face each other, all we have to go on is their common foes which leads me back to Ian Meridith. Remember him? He is the guy that stuck your Mr.Football,#4 ranked, state champ. He is also in D1 this year. Oh no, he could come out of no where and shock the wrestling community. The reason Coffey is not a top recruit? Hmmmmm, that's right, he is only a Jr. Don't get me wrong, Nick is good wrestler and football player. I am not trying to bash him, rather I am defending Coffey. Also, I am a BIG ORANGE fan, but who cares that Nick is the son of Fuad? Does that give Nick some sort of advantage? Fuad was a kicker for crying out loud. By the way, Coffey's dad played for the VOLS as well. I love to jaw.
  12. Put this in YOUR figures. Since you brought up common foes, what happened to Reveiz at the Knox Cat. tourny? Oh, my bad, he was not there. Had he been there, maybe he would have made the finals and got his shot at Coffey. The reason I say maybe is because Ian Meridith was not there..........Now,back to commnon foes, last year at the K. Catholic tourny, what happened when Reveiz wrestled Meridith? Oh, I remember, thousand 1, thousand 2, thousand WHAPP, Reveiz got stuck. Coffey beats Meridith and takes home the gold. How do you like those figures? To bad these two won't get to wrestle, but Reveiz better watch his back, cause Meridith is DI.
  13. They both have wrestled Dempsy from Ryan this year. Reveiz barely beat Dempsy at the Ryan tourny, something like 8-7. A week after that, Coffey stuck Dempsy in the first period (1:33) at Ryan. Nic is the best in DI, but he is not better than Coffey.
  14. I guess quickness and agility don't count. C'mon dude, open your eyes and give the kid some props. He is not the technition of say, Bundy, but he uses his quickness, agility, as well as his strengh to win matches. He has a great stand up, great takedown and the power to turn opponents to their backs. He is not going to throw legs in on a guy, that would be stupid. Why change what wins for him? He is only a Jr. and he will only get better. I would not count him short at nationals. He may not win nationals, but don't doubt him. Beat him, then talk it.
  15. You must be the next Prop 48 at whatever school you wrestle for, or are you only a spectator? Coffey stuck Brandon Jackson last night and He stuck Brandon Jackson again tonight. I am not knocking Jackson, he is the #2 ranked 215 in DII and he is a pretty good wrestler that showed class in defeat. 215 is about power and yes Coffey is the definition of power. When you get to Chatt. on the 17th or you can go to the TSSAA website, look up the state champs. You will not see an * next to Coffey that says * He only had muscle. What you will see is Coffey-STATE CHAMPION @ 215
  16. To all the Coffey haters out there, shut your pie hole. Wrestling is a brutal sport and Coffey is indeed a brute. Unlike figure skating, rythmic gymnastics, beauty pagents, and diving, wrestling does not give style points. Wrestling is mean and tough i.e Courtney Coffey. Bundy and Manson are great at what they do and I love to watch them on the mat. They combine technique with power and wisdom and are the best of their class. That is not Coffey's game nor is it the game of most of the heavier weights. He is very strong, very quick, very athletic and very, very, hard to beat on the mat. He is by far the best at 215 , just ask Dempsey from Ryan who barely lost to Reviez, but got crushed in about a min. by Coffey tonight. Over the years, there have been many state champs that won on athletic ability. Does that mean they should turn in their medals? I don't think so. Coffey uses his God given ability and HIS TECHNIQUE, let me say that again, HIS TENIQUE, to win. Period--------By the way, wrestling may not be his sport, He is also an ALL STATE football player. Hmmm, lets see, State champ on the mat and all state on the field, what a wonderful problem to have as a Jr.
  17. Courtney Coffey is definately top 10 if not higher
  18. (Pittsburg on the clock?)..........Not so fast grasshopper. THE BUS, TALK IT
  19. What teams are going to be at the H'wood tourny this year?
  20. 39-30 isn't really wiping the mat, but WH did win so I'll give you that. It sure is early to be talking so much trash. Boy, I wish the 215 "STUD" from WH would have done enough to get to his weight instead of wrestling HWT. I probably would have had an extra cheeseburger or 2 myself. What tourny's will WH be at this yaer? Maybe these teams will meet again. I hope so.
  21. Hey noballs, have a little faith. The old ball coach is still around and could give C. Bros. all they can handle. Eliminating the turnovers could propell the Eagles into, yes, another state championship game. That funny shaped ball bounces crazy and it is anyones game. AS for the "cupcakes" in the 80's, we played some pretty good teams. We played anyone that would play us no matter what class. I was there during that time and we just had the dudes and teamwork to get it done. So maybe there were some gimmes, but we were just simply good enough to make most teams look like "cupcakes." MBA,McCallie,Gallatin, Dickson,Riverdale, none of those teams were even close to us. I Know the 88 team would have won against any team, any place, any time. BRENTWOOD HAIL TO THEE
