  1. I do believe Coalfield has an edge in depth, because they only have four two-way starters. They have played in a lot of close games and they are in good shape. Fatigue could become a factor in the 4th quarter of a close game.

  3. The thing that impresses me most about Hampton is that they are very balanced and get a lot of people involved on offense from the few films I have had an opportunity to watch the last three days.
  4. I hope Townsend plays, you always want to go against the best and he is truly a special player. I think this will be a hard-hitting, defensive game. Coalfield's defense is better than last year's and they have rose up and met every challenge each week. As for their offensive line, Coach Keith Henry gets an A+ for the way he has brought, basically a new line together. They have good size (a couple of kids over 270) and are getting better each week. When they line up in the Power I, they get even bigger with 310-pound T.C. Armes. Two very good teams will battle it out for a chance to move on to the semi-finals. I like Coalfield playing at home, 14-7. Good luck to both teams this week, and all this talk on CoachT is just good reading material, because the game will be decided on the field Friday night. I have talked to several coaches that have either played against both teams or have seen both teams, so I got a pretty good idea of what to expect.
  5. Davis has to be considered one of the best to ever play at Coalfield. He will finish his career with well over 4,000 rushing yards and only started in the backfield two seasons. And he is being considered as Mr. Football as a defensive end, not a linebacker.
  6. First of all, Carson-Newman is recruiting Brandon very hard and he has even made an official visit a month or so ago. Also, CoachLogan, Davis has gotten a lot bigger since CAK last faced him and he is now around 200 pounds and is one heck of a defensive end that has registered 70 career sacks. He is as deserving a Mr. Football candidate than the other two finalists.
  7. There is no Cody Lowe from Coalfield.
  8. I do believe that Oneida has a chance at the upset. There are several things the Indians must do to win. *Hold Hampton to 14 points or less *Get a score with the sepcial teams or set up one with the defense *Adam Jeffers needs 20-plus carries *Zack Lambert needs 6-8 touches on offense *Stay close for 3 quarters (if the game is a TD or less heading into final quarter then the pressure is on Hampton) Should be a great game.
  9. Oneida did face a boy bigger than Roop. Harriman's Brad Williams is 6'10" and over 350 pounds.
  10. Yeah, just talked to Coach Kreis at Coalfield a little bit ago and the game will be played tonight.
  11. I think Oneida has a shot at Hampton. If the Indians can make a big play on special teams and a couple of big plays on defense then they might pull off the upset. Oneida has played a tougher schedule and have faced several teams as good as Hampton.
  12. Sunbright at Coalfield is on for tonight. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
  13. As for friends, I'm almost certain Goose was talking about me. I give Oneida a lot of credit for a very good defense, but they just haven't been able to put many points on the board or move the ball with much consistency this season, and Coalfield, when they play up to their potential, can be a dominating type team. I still stand by my comment that the Jackets are 2-3 touchdowns better than the Indians. But the for the game that matters (not the one played in my mind), Coalfield won 7-0 against a determined Oneida team.

  15. Decisions on both the Sunbright at Coalfield and Oakdale at Harriman games will be made within the next little bit.
  16. Yeah, it looks like me and the old Gooser will be providing tag-team coverage at John R. Dillon Field Satyuday night. To be honest, I was had been hoping for a few weeks that this game or the Coalfield/Sunbright game would get moved so, I could watch both games. I look forward to watching the Bulldogs and Bobcats.
  17. I have seen both teams, and it is just my opinion.
  18. If getting beat in the first round is rebounding and going for the championship, then yes they will.
  19. Cosby is an improved team, but they won't make it past Midway in the first round. The Greenwaves are too fast and too physical.
  20. There is a lot riding for both teams Friday night on Rochelle Field. The Tiger seniors, a very talented group, face the possibility of playing their final high school game and will want to try and win a Morgan County Championship. The Jackets, however, have a chance to send the seniors out on a high note with a perfect 10-0 season, a Morgan County Championship and momentum heading into next week's playoffs. The Coalfield seniors are closing in for most career wins and one Friday night will help the cause. Sunbright is one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the region, but there defense hasn't play consistently all season or have they slowed down the top teams in the region. Look for a good game for a half or three quarters before Coalfield pulls out a 28-13 win in Rumble 2K6.
  21. Coalfield's 7-0 win at Oneida was played in sloppy field conditions and the Jackets had around 4-5 fumbles or the score could have easily been 21 or 28-0. Coalfield's defense has played its best in big region games (shutouts against Harriman and Oneida and only 13 points allowed to Midway).
  22. I know it has been a rough season for the Bobcats, but what is the injury report heading into the final game of the season?
  23. CoachT, Coalfield's Brandon Davis (5'9", 200 lbs., Sr.) has led East Tennessee in sacks last two seasons at defensive end and has 19 this year through 9 games in helping the #5-ranked Jackets to a perfect 9-0 mark and their second straight Region 2-A Championship. He also has registered 65 tackles on defense and has rushed for 1,530 yards and scored 22 TD's. He has a 3.7 GPA and has scored a 20 on his ACT. A team leader and great kid. He should be at least a finalist for Class A Mr. Football as a lineman.
  24. Brandon Davis is a special player no doubt. yes, I believe without a doubt he would start for any team in Roane County at tailback. He would start on one side of the ball or the other for any team in East Tennessee. Would he star at Maryville? Probably not, but he would be a great addition to any team in the area including the Rebels. And yes, he will be playing football on Saturdays next fall if he decides to play college football. Several schools are in the recruiting mix for his services. He also is getting some looks in baseball, where he is an oustanding centerfielder.
