  1. Shawn, just thought I would let you pass along the word, that I overheard some of the CAK fans and players talking after their game Saturday that they will beat Oakdale or their first win. Good luck tomorrow night, but I think if you all play hard, then the Eagles will go to 3-3 and 2-1 in the region. And, don't forget, a few more punts like the 52-yarder against Lookout Valley and you can wrap up all-county honors.

    Alcoa @ OS

This game might be the most interesting matchup in East Tennessee this Friday night. OS has the edge in experience and is 2-0 in the region, while the Tornadoes are freshman-loaded with a 1-1 mark in the region. How does everybody see these teams matching up?

Being a Roance County News Sports man, Goose had to pick the Blue Devils. It was probably their last realistic chance of avoiding an 0-10 season. Oneida is down this season, but the team is young and improving each and every week. Harriman has some talent, but they are not producing on the field.
  4. Skittles, what is the extent of your injury, and how is Gunter doing? I didn't know JT was hurt. I think with Harriman having to play on Monday, it will take away some from the Blue Devils this Friday night.
  5. BBallTN get your facts straight if your going to talk football. Harriman won 79-44 in 1999, but the Bulldogs won't pour it on like that. I will say somewhere in the neighborhood of Wartburg 42-6 over the Blue Devils, who are in the middle of one of their worst runs of talent in the history of their football program. 6. DP, CAK threw it between 12-18 times against the team from Asheville, NC. The QB like sto roll out and throw short routes to #34 and 385, so make sure they are accounted for each play.
  7. Shawn, great punt last night in a crucial situation. I went and watched CAK yesterday before coming to watch your big win over Lookout Valley. CAK is a dangerous team, just ask Midway, who was tied with the Warriors 14-14 in the second half before pulling out a 35-21 victory. CAK has three running backs that run hard (#9, #41 and #32), a good quarterback that likes to roll out and pass to #34 and their tight end #85. I think if you all go up there in the right frame of mind, and control the line of scrimmage then you all should pull out another win. Your punting will be a key too, because CAK has a good returner in #9 and they also have a good kicker (#4) and solid punter (#32). Good luck, and yes I will be picking the Eagles. The one thing that is scary is that CAK is still searching for their first win since going to the varsity ranks last season, and they will have a lot of fans for their first-ever FRiday night home game on their new field. By the way, what's up with hollering at me to look at the scoreboard? Talk to you later.
  8. Oakdale hosts Lookout Valley Saturday, while Sunbright will plat at home against Bledsoe County Monday. [Edited by kingbrian3 on 9-27-02 2:11P]

Rochelle, Byrd had a cyst removed from his stomach and will miss a game or two.
  11. I was just wondering how good Bledsoe County is this season? I haven't heard or seen much abut them thus far this season. How many players do they have? Who are some of the top players, and what are their strengths and weaknesses? Thanks for any info.
  12. Cats1990, you bring up a vaild point about the Class A schools on Wartburg's schedule, but you have to consider that Coalfield, Oakdale and Sunbright are all county rivals and are good money games for both schools. Wartburg scrimmages Webb in the spring and fall every year, and I can guarantee you that the Spartans, year in and year out, are equal to or better than most teams in this area. I do wish Wartburg would replace Jellico with a Kingston, Loudon or Lenoir City type team. As for the game Friday night, I am excited. This is always one of, if not the best, games that I look forward to the most. I truly believe it will be an action-packed game for the fans and the players. I predicted Wartburg would win 40-31 in the paper, but that is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. Good luck to both teams, and I will be pulling for both schools.
  13. The Hollis Eble Tournament for boys and girls team takes place in Oakdale during the early to mid October. Call Fred Snow (423) 369-3885 for more details.

    KingB:???

Well, to update everybody, Travis is now at Harriman. Benny Collins is expected to be the head coach at Oakdale.

    KingB:???

Ro, yes Travis has accepted a position at Monterey as Offensive Coordinator. It was a very difficult decision for Travis, but he made the move for family reasons. I wish Travis the best of luck and I understand his decision totally. I think he did a great job at Oakdale, but there comes a time when people have to make decisions based on what is best for their family and this is what he has done.
  16. I'm pretty sure he played at Roane State a year or two after he left UT.
  17. Maybe as spectators, but this is a Morgan County All-Star game. See you in the morning.
  18. Coalfield colors are orange and black, so I figured it would be easier for all of the All-Stars to get something black to wear. I am not sure of everybody that is going to be there, but I expect it will be a lot of fun.
  19. The 6th annual Morgan County All-Star softball game is this Saturday in Coalfield at 10 a.m. The game showcases the top talent in the county each year. DDP, do you plan on playing this Saturday? I am trying to get a hold of your dad to see if he can help call the game. Let me know if he can and if youy are going to be there. Rowland, are you going to be there?
  20. Congratulations Chris Treadway (assistant coach) on capturing a state title. Folks in Oakdale can be proud. Brian Langley
