  1. I can answer a little about the DB girls and Science Hill. I don't know what's up with Science Hill. They should be stronger this year than last year, but it doesn't seem to be so. As for Dobyns Bennett, when they played Boone, they just didn't look very happy to be on the court!!!! They came out of the locker room with no energy and warm ups were half-hearted at best. They looked defeated before they even took the floor.
  2. I don't know about that. Daniel Boone Girls have been winning for a few years now and I still don't see anything about them here on CoachT. I don't see much of anything about the Big7. All I see is people writing about Elizabethton, Unaka and Unicoi. I wish we did have more support for the Big7 here. It would be nice.
  3. I don't see why we can't talk about it here....it was about women's basketball afterall. None of the newspapers cover girls basketball as well as boy's anyway.
  4. Thanks....I did think maybe I was going nuts....one minute it was there....the next gone....
  5. Where did the "best newspaper coverage in east tennessee" go? I refreshed the page and it was gone.....did someone delete it for some reason? Maybe I just can't find it?
  6. No, this tournament is held at Knox Bearden. I think it is called the Super 16, but am not sure. It is on 12/27 12/28 and 12/29.
  7. Does anybody out there know the schedule for this tournament? I am a parent who needs to schedule vacation!!!!!
  8. Does anyone have any information about this after Christmas tournament. Who is going to be there? A schedule would be great!!!!!
  9. I'm going to add my two cents to this one since Boone has played both teams and been beaten by both teams. Granted Lyons is great, but I think Jeff County has a real chance here. Huff is the best post player I've seen and the guards get her the ball any time they want to. Both teams are great and this should be a good game. Unless Manuel brings her A game, I pick Jeff County by 6.
  10. Coach17....what do you mean by different associations????? I thought it was all TSSAA?
  11. I have noticed the difference in the refs this year too. Seems like they are calling alot of touch fouls (cheap fouls) and then are not calling some really hard fouls under the goal or when the girls are throwing elbows. I can't say that the fouls have all been against us either because at one game I know one of our girls was doing a moving screen a bunch of times and no whistle blew. This is going to hurt her later on too because when we do get a good ref, he'll call the moving screen. It seems like they are letting them fight over the ball too long too instead of blowing the whistle. I sit there and cringe and hope nobody gets hurt on either team.
  12. Nickles did pretty well. I think she scored 8 or 9 (???) Caldwell had some problems with turn overs and I don't think she played her best. You are right....we did try to live and die by the 3. Haylee Collins, their senior post was the one who had to sit out the 3rd quarter (she was not playing well at all). But we did not get the ball inside to the other post players either. I don't know why. I hope they change that because we should have a good inside game. We'll see against Morristown East. Also was disappointed in our defense against both South Greene and Greeneville. I really couldn't see what was wrong except we just weren't stopped the drive to the goal.
  13. Just wanting to get an idea of how good Morristown East is going to be? ANybody know?
  14. Its still real early, but I'm going to take a crack at this. Will be interesting to see how it ends up. 1. Daniel Boone - yeah I know they got beat in scrimmages, but I believe they will come out on top 2. Unicoi - if Weaver and Sparks get back. Hope Weaver is not out for the season 3. TN High - we played them in the summer. They are going to be as good as the coach lets them 4. Elizabethton - Baughman (don't know how to spell it) is really good 5. Central - Love to watch Moody play and she's as good as ever 7. South - Kilgore and Bird are really good 8. Unaka - they might should be higher???? 9. Science Hill 10. Dobyns Bennett Sorry, can't put East in here anywhere. I saw them play at the Jamboree and unless they were pulling a fast one and trying to hide the talent, they won't be in the top 10.
  15. well, here is what I know for what it is worth. Boone did not play well for 3 quarters. They seem to be so uptight and lacking in leadership. Campbell got so mad at one of the seniors, he sat her for the whole 3rd quarter. When he finally let her back in the game about 2 minutes into the 4th, she came out firing. she scored 8 points, had about 3 or 4 rebounds in 3 or 4 minutes. But when Boone got within 6 points, the refs started with the whistle. South Greene had about 8 free shots in the final 2 minutes. Can't blame the refs though, it looks like the girls are not playing as a team. Plus I am not sure how hard the coach was trying to win. The same thing happened last year in the preseason. I truly believe he doesn't care whether they win or lose the scrimmages and the hall of fame games. He plays all 12 players quite a bit. Same went for the Greeneville game the night before, although believe it or not the girls played better against Greeneville than against South Greene. Foul trouble hurt them in the second half. They just got afraid to play because they were calling every little touch foul (against Boone). It was a very hostile environment. But, it will help them down the road. Hopefully they will start playing as a team and playing with more intensity than they have shown in the first HOF games. Half to give some credit to Greeneville and South Greene....they both have really good teams and were playing well. Megan Lyons !!!!!! what a player! She is just great!!!!!!
