  1. Congrats to Signal's Eagles! Y'all should have no trouble in Cookeville. Our Bucs just kind of imploded (reminds me of the Tyner quarter final game in "05.) You can't beat anybody with that many turnovers, much less a really good team.
  2. Nope, 06 grad. But that #7 has been at all of the playoff games this year.
  3. I love my Bucs but they are gonna need a near-perfect game to pull this one out even though they are much improved as the year has progressed. A 2-day rain might help. Yep, TC, BB and FC are down a bit from past years but SM is on a tear these days. They oughta be, and it's theirs to lose. The enrollment, maturity and competition have developed into a "perfect storm" for SM to succeed. Win or lose, the Bucs will play hard and with class. Reaction, Buc55 and crew: Lord willin' I'll be there and I think "twinkle toes #7" might be with me as he is home from school. I heard the same Price-to-McCallie rumor. I don't think that with his history that McCallie would offer, IMO. Troll, one more Gay Parrot joke and we will stuff you back under the bridge where you belong. ; ) To quote Dwight Yoakem in Slingblade: If y'all don't shut up I think I'm gonna go outa my mind...
  4. Congrats Bucs!!!!!! Great win against a quality team. Anyone have highlights or details?
  5. Somebody bump Railbird, his record is stuck... on a stupid statement, at that.
  6. Whew! Congrats to the Jackets for a well-executed game plan and a fantastic game. I agree- BB had nobody the callibur of Seay. I am amazed that we stopped him as many times as we did. No way BB could match the size and depth of TC, it was only on heart and a few Trousdale mistakes that we stayed in it. BB's d-backs were the backbone. The call on the late hit was sketchy. Replay shows Boyd player getting knocked into the ball carrier and falling on him out of bounds on a critical play. The best teams overcome close calls like that and today that team was TC. THe goal line stand was epic. 'nuff said. Creasy is a brilliant coach. He only threw when an interception would equal a punt and field position. He knew that as the 2nd half progressed BB was keying on #5 and his stats in the 2nd half bear that out. Beasley was in bad shape from the git-go and the shoulder finally took him out of the game (our #2 back was on crutches), Matthew Crowe (db) turned an ankle during TC's last scoring drive and was on the bench, other than that we got through relatively healthy, (good news for the B-ball coach.) Again, great teams overcome those things and prevail as the Jackets did today. By the way- TC's coach was quoted in the on-line paper as saying that the two BEST TEAMS in the state played today. Sorry McKenzie! The Bucs statistically got run over, around and through but that shows you the difference between 1a enrollment and 2a enrollment at the top level. TC is the top level and the mark to shoot for. Missed getting to meet the famed ones: slim, sno and company. Got to the party a little late. We are still proud of the Bucs!
  7. Post-Game: Mama Rosa's just south of the square. Awesome pizza as big as a manhole cover and good spaghetti too. Pre-game: doughnut place near campus, can't remember the name, but it's good! Cheddar's down by the freeway is good as well. It helps having an offspring in school there.
  8. Railbird, I agree. Until Saturday. Quote: I want to wish Coach Sawyer Robbins from Boyd good luck on Saturday. Man, what a great kid and great family! Thanks, seven. Insanity, If I see you in that get-up your pic is goin' directly to the peopleofwalmart.com website. Good gravy, I hope this thing don't go into overtime. The Bucs have had rotten luck in OT state games! TC fans: Above all, have a safe trip down and back and an injury-free game. Y'all bring a lot of fun (and aggravation) to CoachT! Looking forward to meeting some folks that care about and support their team. GO BUCS!
  9. Blah Blah Blah? Now that's original. Answer the question.
  10. Kicker's long this season is 47. His consistency has vastly improved late in the season. So what are all y'all TC posters gonna do when BBS has a lead at the end of the 4th? Excuses? Whining? To hear y'all tell it the Bucs are just a bump in the road and don't even deserve to be in the same stadium. Lemme tell ya this: them bumps have been known to break the axles clean off. To all who doubt the Buccaneers: ask Keon Wiliams or Terrell Robinson if the Bucs will lay a hit on you or if they wilt in the 4th. I know what the Bucs are gonna do down on the field: They are gonna knock you down then help you up, pat you on the helmet then knock you down again. Boyd is gonna bring the heat, so don't worry about gettin' cold at this game! If we lose, we lose, but TC will know that they've been in a battle and that this is a real football team! Boyd-Buchanan by 7 Lord willing and the snow don't close 111, I'll see y'all at the tailgate.
  11. Current Saturday forecast for Cookville: partly cloudy, low 26, high 41. Any breeze at all will make it feel colder than a witches well digger.
  12. Congrats to the young Mr. Robinson on being voted 1A Back Mr. Football! From all reports he is a quality young man, and not a bad football player!
  13. The Cascade game mentioned earlier: EVERY time Boyd got in the red zone Cascades' band would start the "train" cadence very loudly during the QB's snap count. Boyd's coach went postal and screamed at the refs "they can't do that during the snap count" (It cost Boyd a false start the first time then the o line adjusted from there on out.) The ref shook his head "no" and acted like all was normal. The way I was raised that is dirty pool and poor sportsmanship. Have things changed since those days?
  14. Quote: Does Boyd have trouble getting teams to play them? It seems every year TC has to travel further or go out of state like they did this year to fill the schedule. Yeah, we did until we got into a 2 or 3 year funk where we'd have a good line and no speed. Or a good qb and no receivers, or great talent with not as much heart. After those years we were real popular! I think that we might be back on that cycle where nobody will play us again and we'll have to do like '05 where we played East Ridge (4A) Fulton (3A), Red Bank(4A), Cookeville(5A) and Baylor (3A DII ) Man, that was a tough year. Us Boyd fans are proud of all the boys who strap it up, play hard and show good sportsmanship but we've been waiting for this team to come together for 4 years! What do you mean TC will practice on turf? Shoot, ya'll play on it at least once every year...
  15. Common misconception. BBS only gets kids whose parents can fork over $8000+ for tuition (we did it by driving really old cars for 16 years.) and agree to abide by the school rules and can get their kids there every day, not "whoever they want." This ain't no big-bucks school with deep pockets like Baylor or BGA or Ensworth. I'll bet that y'all have kids coming to your school who live farther from it than BBS does, on average. I was a little disappointed by throwing with a big lead, but it is the playoffs and I reckon they have to keep the 2nd string ready. It didn't affect the outcome of the game though, no scoring in the 2nd half and I'm pretty sure that every kid got on the field for both sides.
