  1. Actually we lost to Pearl Cohn by 7, and Greenbrier by 10. Not much more than 13. But unforunately, one is enough. Then they'll have to stay in front of Ricky. They ain't seen speed yet!
  2. White House played their hearts out Friday night. These guys gave it their all and tried to make the most of a rebuilding year. I don't think that any White House fan should show disappointment in these boys. They have laid it all out and when there is a loss, we have nothing to hang our heads about. Look at the bright side, hey we're in the playoffs and a little trip through Monteage mountain may be nice. A painted up caravan just shows the state that White House is still IN the race. To the Greenbrier players and fans, thanks for the warm hospitality in "the Brier". It was a fantastic ballgame with better atmosphere than a Titans game Greenbrier showed us what we've been hearing about and looking forward to all season. It was their year, what can we say? After the game to see all those smiles made me happy for them. Like Advocate said, they were gracious winners with "good luck" wishes all the way out the gate. That makes it all the better. They deserved it with their play after I watched the game on video. That was the picture of team effort. It just might take some of of us Blue Devils a while to admit it. Let's just put it behind us and head to Polk! They're waiting for a BDP surprise. Best of luck to White House and Greenbrier in the playoffs. Hope to meet again. P.S. NoDoubt, your family should be proud. Two great ballplayers. Better yet, one can hold the last year's 3A Mr. Football trophy while the other QB'd the end of the streak. Not bad, not bad at all. I'd call that fair, don't you think??
  3. White House is going to be fired up after last Friday night. Polk County here we come!
  4. PC beat SC tonight 34-7 which takes the chance of region champs away from White House. The best we can do is 2nd. The worst we can do is 3rd.
  5. I'm a White House fan and I go to the games too. But call it like it is. Cheering yes, class yes, but I tend to agree. Porter is calling the shots, not Ladd. Ladd's over 1200 yards compared to West's 401 and Hargrove's 175 looks like Porter is just giving Ladd a breather. Don't act like he's saying "oh no, coach, let someone else have their turn." He wants the ball. He don't need to be a running back if he don't. And the game against DeKalb. That was called having mercy and letting the backups play.
  6. 5 Sport, back at ya. I was reading what GBCat2 said and one of those White House people may be me. I don't mind saying that I am very impressed with Greenbrier and have been for the last few years. It's been like watching a rookie turn into a star in the last few years, of sorts. I thought it was cool that Greenbrier and White House were in Memphis at the same time last year, and it would have been even better if we could have watched each other play in the Boro. Wasn't meant to be, I guess. If that Greenbrier fan hates WH as another post said, I think it's a very small group. White House fans pull for Greenbrier every week of the season but one, and my Greenbrier friends tell me it's vice versa. Now we're back to that week. Unlike before, this one counts and the rookie has reached that powerhouse status. We've been questionable this year, no doubt, and to watch Greenbrier knock off/shutout teams like clockwork does make me and a few of the White House fans wonder what we'll be up against, even if they'd never let the Bobcats know. We all know streaks don't go on forever, even if we'd like them to. But we can only hope. I could sit here and tout on about past wins, but that is dead and gone. We don't know what Friday will bring yet. I agree with GBCat2 also in that it's us, the fans, that keep this banter going. Nothing we can do about what happens on the field. The boys will settle it on the field. Here's to injury free and good sportsmanship. Good luck to both teams.
  7. Ok, no White House didn't get to the finals last year. Yes, Greenbrier is doing well and has a program that I think they feel White House doesn't respect. They are happy with their growing success and are even happier when they surpass White House by winning against an opponent that White House lost to, which haven't been many. I was a student at White House when we didn't get respect either, but the better you get, the more you earn. I, personally, think Greenbrier has built a hardnose football program that I respect immensely, but there's room for eveybody and White House is as tough as they come, too, and in some strange way, motivates Greenbrier to achieve. BUT, someone said earlier, let's don't count the past scores, the past records, and such. This all starts Friday night and we'll have the answer then. Good luck to both teams. Keep it "friendly".
  8. It ain't the first time. You'd better not go to the barber shops here and not be up on the stats of White House and sometimes Greenbrier. If you're not you might not know what the back of your head looks like. And for some, you don't put White House High and White House Heritage in the same sentence. Now that's utterly ridiculous.
  9. Yeah, NoDoubt. Gee, somehow, it doesn't make me feel any better that GB won all those games.
  10. Brrrrr. It's gonna be COLD. Think I might watch this one from the easy chair. Not going to make a prediction on this one. These two teams are pretty equal and anybody making a prediction is taking a stab in the dark.
  11. Let it go. These Dekalb players don't need this at this point in the season. They still have heart. More than some. Coacht, could you remove this post?? This is just plain uncalled for.
  12. Shoot yeah. No matter who we play, the best part of the season (except the playoffs) is to see who will win the White House-Greenbrier game. When they break that "streak" Katie bar the door! The good part about it all though is that leaving the game, these fans are shaking hands and patting each other on the back.
  13. According to today's Robertson County Times, Greenbrier held onto the ball for 33 of the 48 minutes played in the Pearl Cohn. Not one single turnover, it says. I'd say if they did that to Pearl Cohn, they have a pretty good shot.
  14. Coachhard, I've been told that this trio ya'll got puts the hammer down. Looks like Dill is still on his feet here. From the game we had against PC, I know it was a defensive struggle. I really didn't know if PC could be beat, let alone held scoreless. Congrats on the win. See ya'll next Friday in the Brier patch. It should be an interesting game.
  15. With the last three games being shutouts for Greenbrier, I don't see Coach Williams letting these boys drop the ball, so to speak. For this game, having seen the Devils and Macon County play, I know they have a challenge with Dallas, but it seems if the Bobcats held Council to the stats they will most certainly sit on Dallas. I watched one of their games on Channel 19 while I was at a friends house and when Marshall puts it in the air, don't forget that Greenbrier comes down with interceptions. I'll go with Greenbrier. Shutouts are not easy to come by, so their defense will be too much for Macon.
  16. No worries for White House with Dekalb. Porter can start the second string.
  17. Ok, ok. First let me make a disclaimer: Not a coach or player (which is obvious by the user name) and I know the players don't need to look ahead. But in my mind, I've pretty well booked the games of White House against Station Camp and Dekalb, and am hoping for the best in tonights game with PC, but in this weather, their record and homefield advantage, will not be surprised at anything. My mind keeps wandering down the road to that infamous Bobcat-Devil brawl. The Cats seem to be doing pretty good right now and a little tougher beast to deal with than SC or Dekalb, altho I haven't seen any of them this year. Talk around work here is that this might be the year that Greenbrier pulls it over. Not going on past seasons, records and all that, but considering what both teams have NOW, what's your opinion?
  18. Don't be too hard on em' Advocate. You have to remember that, if not most, MANY of these people that come to the White House are transplants. They weren't raised with the spirit that is instilled in most White House fans. They haven't sat through losing games like the ones "oldtimers" have seen in the past and the White House fans now take winning for granted and have let their BDP become complacent. The newer people here may come to the games to watch their kids play or because it's the place to be in White House on a Friday night. They don't want to stand and scream because it draws attention to themselves, and just like a shy kid, they don't want to stick out. The older people here sometimes don't even have kids playing anymore, but come because it's the local gathering or social event of sorts. The spirit of BDP can't be bought at the concession stand cause it's more than a pom-pom or a bleach bottle. Sometimes you can't even train someone to have it in the stands, it's just instilled....and it NEVER goes away. I know a friend that went all through WH schools and graduated with me from WHHS, and has kids that attend a school we play and win against EVERY year. She's my age and goes to every game cheering for players that are just her kids' FRIENDS. I don't think her kids have ever played. She just loves rooting for the school teams. I've seen her at the games when we play them, and she cheers, claps and yells for their team, just like she did when she went to school here at WHHS. I saw her one day and talked to her and she was hoarse. I asked her what happened to her voice, and she just laughed and said "somewhere deep inside, my BDP keeps coming out, it's just a different color". That's what I call spirit. Some people just never REALLY get it, and some people NEVER lose it.
  19. NoDoubt-since Catfish is done on this thread I will answer your question. He is a Sycamore alumni turned CC supporter. GreenbrierCat2-no bleachers discourages visiting fans cheering or comfort. They aren't called Cheat-um for nothing.
  20. Springfield needs to shift into high gear on this one, and they can pull it off.
