  1. I don't know what paper you have seen indepth coverage of the hiring of a high school coach in but i haven't seen one. If you are referring to coaches in general that is different. An opening at Tennessee or Florida is a little bit bigger news than at a high school if that is what you are referring too. Don't get up in arms over it man. Remember it is a high school coach, not the mayor's race.
  2. The reason there is no story as of yet is because there is no news. Yeah it is fun to print speculation, but in the end does it matter. When a decision is made there will be a story, until then the rest isn't print worthy. Further more, the print of speculation could run off interested canidates. My advice is to sit back and relax, Jerry T will decide something and then it will be printed anything before that is just rumor.
  3. Anyone heard anything new on the East Job.
  4. Caleb Goforth and Emmanuel Frederick are both going to be playing at the next level after the 2003 season. Both Morristown West linebackers have great size and range. Frederick (6-2, 220) Goforth (6-1, 215)
  5. I have watched a lot of football and McCray was the best running back I ever saw in High School. He made tacklers look sick when they tried to hit him and I NEVER saw any run him down after he hit the corner. I heard a school in Kentucky was still trying to get him to come to school. I guess some people value their lives more than others though. (What a waste)
  6. Lamar isn't going anywhere. Why would he want to go across town to have his head beat in every year by his buddy Coach Woods.
  7. Joe Case is a good coach and the play of his secondary is not all that bad. The Trojans use a pressure defense that leaves the corner out on an island a lot of the time. The way the Trojans stopped the run made every team they played go to the air. Yes Greeneville did throw for a lot of yards against the Trojans, but they only ran the ball 16 times in the two games combine. At Maryville it was the same in the second game. They don't need a new coach they need some corners that can play. Isom locked down his guy all year, but who ever was on the other side killed them no matter who it was.
  8. I hate when people get on here a talk crap about a team and don't tell who their team is. I guess you guys must pull for Knox. Carter or something huh. Well All I am saying is bring it don't sing it Knoxville. Find a way to beat Maryville and you will get your shot at the Trojans. And Cleveland if you believe the hype of these people your in trouble. You better work your butt off this summer for that game. If you take the Trojans lightly you may get a whippin.
  9. Syracuse played Tennessee close in the opening game of the season in 1998. The Vols won the National championship didn't they. What does a close loss have to do with anything. I guess you think if your a good team you shoud go through the entire season and kill everyone huh. Wake up buddy teams hve bad games and the good teams find a way to win those game also. And the game was close on the score board because of an interception for a touchdown and a blocked put. The Trojans run up and down the field all night just could put them away.
  10. Yes when the Trojans played in Knoxville they did get beat around, but that was with a different coach at the helm and lets not forget they did beat Central the last time they played and Maryville had to steal one from them back in 1996 in a 7-6 game and that was when Dale Christman was coaching for god sake. The fact is Morristown West doesn't duck anyone and the principal didn't make the Trojans play Maryville they were drawn out of a hat the first year the two regions decided to scheduale games with each other. It is true Morristown West doesn't have a Championship and can't be considered a dynasty or a dominate team, but remember Knox Central they have done something you haven't been able to do in awhile. When was the last time you beat Maryville. That is what I thought. And as for the teams they play. In my opionion the only three teams that could've beat Greeneville this year were Maryville, Hillsboro, and Morristown West and the Trojans did it twice. And last but not least. If anyony in Knoxville wants to line up with the Trojans there is only one thing you need to do. Make it to the Semi-Finals and they will be waiting. Sounds like you need to quit being worried about the Trojans and find out a way to beat the Red Rebels yourself.
  11. found out a few minutes ago, hutchins has accepted the job.....he's in his mid 30's.....he'll do a good job down there
  12. my vote would be for randy rogers @ knox central....great baseball background, played at C-N for Gary Rundles, Joey Seaver, Tom Griffin and Gaines Cox he knows the game inside and out
  13. was told today that jefferson county assistant coach Erik Hutchins was offered the job. from good sources, he's going to take the job.
  14. Well, the word is he stepped down, but you know how that goes. It is easy to step down when your asked to. And Division 1 tailback? Who would that be? East has a lot of talent and they should've won more than three games in the last two years, but until Woods leaves West, East will always be the other school in Morristown. I never understood why they hired a guy that only won 3 games the year before at a 2A school? I hope they get a good coach, but my senses tell me they will settle for second best. I think Chuck Proffitt would be a good fit for the program. He is young and he knows how to run a system and the word on the street is he would love to get back to Morristown.
  15. greeneville @ jefferson county has been postponed until 2/4/03
  16. After Maryville, who I don't think will be near as good next year, and Central that region is trash. Carter, Powell, Clinton, Knox. West are all just average teams. Just because Maryville has won the State title the last three years doesn't make the region tough. If it was an all around tough region, some other team would actually challenge Maryville.
  17. Coach Gaines Cox is a close friend of mine and he's one of the smartest baseball people I've ever met. I believe he'll have another outstanding season and I wish him and the Bobcats nothing but success in 2003.
  18. Norman Jefferson, who coached AAU teams in the East Tennessee area, passed away Monday at the age of 41 from a apparant heart attack. Norman worked as an assistant coach at Walters State for nearly a decade. He will be sorely missed by one and all.
  19. Jack Blair is retiring after this season. His loss at GHS will be a major one as he's one of the better quotes around as well as being one heck of a coach!
  20. West won more than 7 games in 7 year buddy. The fact is, the actual talent at Morristown West is not as good as it once was so that makes Woods job that much harded. I agree that Woods is the best coach in the state, but get your facts right.
  21. Kaleb Goforth and Emmanuel Frederick both play for Morristown West and both should be All-State in 2003. Goforth made all-state this season and Frederick was honorable mention.
