  1. I haven't seen either team play this year, and I could have told you these were the keys to the game. Coaching, turnovers, defense, points scored, controlling the line of scrimmage? These are the keys to any football game. What you've said here is essentially nothing. transplant is the most intelligent poster on this thread/website. Mr. T that is my point. The keys to every game are about the same.
  2. Obviously you are making fun of some comments, we made about players playing both-ways. Now let's get back to talking about the game, who care what team is wearing what. Keys to the game: 1) Who will control the line of scrimmage. 2) Can Morristown East offense score enought points against Morristown West defense. East will move the football, the question, will they finish drives. 3) Special teams- kickoff returns-punting..ect overall I think Morristown West special teams maybe better, but East's has the better kickoff return team. 4) Turnovers 5) Morristown East defense, will they come to play. East's wins most scoring contest, but beating West will require some stops. 6) Coaching- What teams makes the best ajustment durning the game. 7) Will East's have Tee-Howell at 70% or will he be 90%. Tee makes East's offense GO. GO CANES!
  3. Cooler the weather is, the better it is for East's, because of the players who will be going both-ways. Weather being mild, Conditioning should 'nt be a problem. Morristown West has over 80 players, and no-one plays both-ways. We'll take any break we can get. Canefan72 how did practice go today? How did #40 Matt Helton ankle look? has Tee-Howell return to practice? GO CANES!
  4. No, poor defense is CORRECTED by playing kids both ways. Everyone knows that. I think people our missing what Canefan72 is saying. We will only use about 4-5 guys on Defense that get's snap on offense. Most of these players are Athletes, they rotate in & out already. We may use a couple of our bigger offensive lineman on defense, if we are having trouble stopping Morristown West. Conditioning will be a concern, if we have to play our best offensive lineman on Defense the whole game. The plan for the year was no-one plays both-ways.We had to do something to fix our problem on defense. Conditioning for our best Athletes should'nt be a problem. The weather for Friday will be a factor, Cool weather would help Morristown East. GO CANES!
  5. We will know more about the top teams next week. Sevier Co. vs Seymour & Morristown West vs Morristown East, I think East's plays Seymour following week. West will be at Sevier Co. I think a better Mid-Season report will be made.
  6. East is averaging about 36 pts in wins, and about 32 in losses. West: 32 in wins, 13 in the loss. West defense seems pretty consistent: averaging a little over 11.4 against, including a shutout. When teams do score on them, they score, on average, 14.25. East defense: avg. 29 against, including 56 from Cleveland, which skews the numbers a little. Or does it skew the numbers? How did Cleveland get all their points? I missed the game. Common opponents: SD East: W, 42-7 West: W, 27-0. Cherokee East: W 26-21 West: W 45-14. I heard the West win against Cherokee was closer than the score indicated. But I didn't see that game either, so I don't know. Statistically, the teams look fairly even, maybe a slight edge to West. Why do you say if East scores 28, they'll win? Forty-two wasn't enough against Cleveland. Cleveland game no-one made a tackle. Just one of those games, we have a hard time tackling RB's with #3.(Last year in Greenville I think #3 ran for 200+yards)East Defense is alot better than you think. We have alot of guys who played on last year defense.(we were in the top 2 in 5-rivers) I agree with Canefan72, we have alot of young guys playing on the defense. These young players (5-6 guys) will be good players by the end of the year or sometime next year. We just going have too play more guys both-ways. East defense well show up against Morristown West. I just think 28 points for East will get them a win. as you know, no-one has score 28 on Morristown West all year.
  7. I hear that MRI came back good. He plan to return to practice today. If this is not right, please up-date. Getting #40 Helton back on defense & Tee-Howell back, gives East's a better chance of winning. Canefan72, do you think how our defense lines up is the key problem with our tackling? 3 or 4 times last week, we line up with more people on the short side of the field than the wideside. We were out number on every sweep play to the wideside of the field. Go Canes!
  8. well, morristown east does have Tee Howell. But, Tee Howell is not going to be playing as of what i've heard through players from East. Tee has a high ankle sprain. And yes West does have players like Tee H., its just hard to get them the ball when the other team is keying on them the whole night. 24-14 west. Beating Morristown West just got alot harder if T-Howell is out. A high ankle sprain could mean he is out 3-4 weeks. If anyone know for sure, please give a updated. GO Canes!
  9. I agree defense wins championship, I not sure how good Morristown West defense is just yet. Morristown East will score on Morristown West, the question will be: can Morristown East Stop West offense enought to get the win? Turnover will play a big part in the outcome. If East Score more than 28 points, Canes Win! Good luck too both Teams, let's have a full house.
  10. I know this defense is very young, and many of the guys our adjusting to the new defensive head coach. All year this defense has under performed. This defense at times is really good, other times just plan bad. I do not have all the answers, but tackling better would be a start. #3 RB for Cleveland is very good, he will cause problems for alot of teams. Morristown East will be hear from come playoff time. Keep working hard, and let's whip cherokee come friday night. with a win, we our 2-0 in conf. GO Canes!
  11. What's up with Cleveland this year? Cleveland was a preseason top-5 team in 5A football. Morristown East is alittle banged up. We should have most of our players ready togo by Friday. East's runs the Wing-T on offense & alittle of everything on defense. I hope their is a full house friday night. Go Canes!
  12. I agree canefan72, were are the South-Doyle fans. It would be nice to know what kind of offense or defense they run. Is South-Doyle more run or pass? SD-fans, have a safety trip to Morristown, I hope we have a great game.
  13. Are Mavs big up-front or really quick? Is your offense more pass or run? Can your kicker kick the football in the endzone on kickoff? I hope the rain holds off. GO CANES!
  14. I agree with the sitting flat footbed a little bit. We didn't have that problem until # 15 came into the game. The defense will be fine, with a few more games under their belts. The flag on T-Howell 50 yard run in the 4th Qty, the holding must have been near the yard markers. He ran right up the middle of the field, I question a flag thrown so late near the sideline. That is not the reason we lose, it just made it harder for us to win. What's the key this week? How the teams health canfan72? Go Canes
  15. T-Howell is the freak athlete you are thinking about. He plays everywhere- RB,QB,WR-DB-KR & bring water to the team. We had our chance against AE, just came up alittle short. looking ford- ward to the game this week. How is AC Mavs team speed? Morristown has alot of team speed on offense. Our defense got wornout alittle chasing around AE QB #15 & their RB #22. East's defense missed alot of tackle they will normally make. I am sure AE had alot to do with the miss tackle. Go Canes!
  16. Almost right, the final score AE 26 ME 21. Great game too watch,#10 T-Howell put on show. AE will not play against a better all around athlete than #10 the rest of the year. #15 For AE was the different for them. He came in the 2nd qty & made some plays with his legs. How fast is he? Our Defense got wornout chasing AE around. I am sure no-one on East's remaining schedule will have as many Athlete as AE. Our Defense will be alot better because of playing AE. When #15 gets more games under his belt, AE will be hard to Stop. Great game canes, Keep working hard.
  17. A lot of experienced senior skill players? Blanton, Howell, Dee Dee, Demetrius Clark... are there others? Offensively, Austin-East is young... but watch out for their front 7 on defense. They have 3 senior LBs that all started last year, 2 senior DEs (one was a starter last year, the other saw a lot of playing time), and 2 DTs that started last year. Austin-East will depend on their defense early, and the talented offense will put points on the board at some point in the game. I agree with your take on Austin-East defense. My Canes must win the battle up-front. We have very good size on the offensive line. Can we block AE front 7? we will see Sat. We have enought speed on offense to run with anybody, as long as we win the battle up-front. GO CANES!
  18. Morristown West has very good size up front. This maybe one of their better offensive lines they have had in years. As far as speed, I would said above avg. I root for Morristown West until they play my Canes. West will be able to run the football on just about everyone the play this year. They have great size up front and their RB's our big with some speed. Defensive has look very good against the run in their scrimmages. Pass defense has been alittle up and down. Their DB will improve as the season goes along. Only question mark on this team is the QB play. If West can get any type of Quarterback play, they will be hard to beat. We will see how good Mo-West is this Sat.
  19. IMO AE is more talented...and those LB's you mentioned are headhunters...young at skill positions but very talented.... What about imformation on AE offensive & Defensive lines? Keys too the game: 1) Turnovers 2) Special Teams play 3) which teams gets control of the line of scrimmage. 4) Depth- it will be hot, which team will handle the heat the best? This is one of the few teams Morristown East will play, that has as much team speed as East. I am not sure we can get outside on AE as easy as we do most teams.GO CANES!
  20. Canefan 72, I sat right behind you at the scrimmage with my son. I have to agree with the punting problem, In 2 scrimmage it has looked bad. The #1 problem is the long snap, it never gets to the punter. I did see some bright spots in the secondary. # 11 ,# 84, # 30, #2, and #10 looked good. What's up with #1 & #14, I was hoping we would get more out of them. The defense will be fine with a few player adjustment.( may have to move some guys to different spots) GO CANES!
  21. What time will the Scrimmage start? I will be coming down to Knoxville after work. Go Canes
  22. Very honest assetment of the scrimmage. We lost 3 games last year, special team problems in the punting game was the key issues.Only way to fixed our punt blocking issues is too go live in practice. Note: Secondary looks bad early every year. They will be fine as the season goes along. it just hard to get a secondary ready with the offense we run. Our Defensive Ends will need to play better, they keeped getting lost in the backfield. Either that #10 is really quick, or our Ends cannot tackle. I am looking forward next week scrimmage, overall I think we will be fine. GO CANES!
  23. They have about 7 or 8 starters coming back on both sides of the ball. Looney, Rosenbaum, and Depew will be back. They scrimmaged Science Hill last week and someone on CoachT said they heard the Hill scored 3 touchdowns. Were are the fans of Morristown East & Sullivan East? It's football time in Tennessee! What time does the scrimmage start? I really looking forward too see what my Canes can do. Will their be a 3rd team at the scrimmage? Have safe trip to Morristown.
  24. As a Morristown Eastfan, I have to agree that Morristown West was alittle head of Knox West. Knox West moved the ball mostly thur the air & Mo-West seem to get the better in the ground game. I felt Morristown West control the line of scrimmage. Tennesse High would have trouble beating either team in the reg season.
  25. The popping of the pads has started, how as the team looked. Is T-Howell working more at RB or QB? What newcomer looks the best? GO CANES!
