I made my posts about Covington's schedule earlier. But I will say it again. The competition Covington has played this year is medicore. I do not know much about this tournament they are playing this weekend in Missouri though? I still tip my hat to Covington for being 25-1. They are doing something right to get 25 wins. I hope these kids will be prepared for BATTLE when tournament time comes around.

Just because you have one good pitcher does not mean you should win your region. I may be wrong - but the talent Taylor Bennett had when he was playing is no where near as talented as the guys playing now. This team right now should win at least one state championship maybe even two. I still still Geno is a bad coach. He WILL NOT be here for more the 3 more years. Wait til these guys playing right now are gone. Let's see how good a coach he is then!!! Geno leaving Covinton would be the best thing for Covington High School. Geno is running everyone away from the Covington Baseball program, whether you want to believe it or not!!!

I seen on here the score was 2-0 in favor of Covington. Sounds like there was some good pitching. Anyone have stats from last nights game? Where was it played, Covington or Ripley? What are some thoughts on tonights game.

Covington did not lose to Brighton. I not know that for sure.

Covington does have a great team this year. But I do have to disagree with the statement about this team being the best ever at Covington. The 1998 and 1999, I think were better teams. Covington in 1999 won the state championship. Winning their last 24 games straight. That year Covington started 2-5 (first five losses- 3 to Germantown, 1 to Houston, and 1 to Murfreesboro Oakland) all AAA schools. Covington finished 31-7. Not too bad if you ask me. The 1998 team was probally better talent wise, but they failed to win, when they needed too. This years Covington team probally ranks 2nd or 3rd all time in Covington Baseball. Behind the 99' State Champion team. The difference between the 99' and 05' teams is Coaching. In 99' Covington had one of the best coaches around (Allen Pavatte- Now at Briarcrest Christian). Covington's coach this year is not liked by many people in town from what I hear. I do not think he is preparing these young guys for a state title run with the weak schedule their playing. Hopefully I'm wrong. I would like to see another State Championship Banner hanging in the shcool. Good luck Covington the rest of the way this year. And sorry to hear about y'all miss tieing the record for consecutive wins (24) by 1 game. (23-1)

Covington is in the same boat as Ripley next year. They have to replace a lot of players on offense. QB, FB WB, WR. They are returning the majority of the O-Line though. But whoever they start at QB next season has no experience. I look for next season there are going to be disappointed teams come playoff time. Covington's reign on 7-3A might come to an end next season ( As much as I hate to say it). There are to many great football programs in this region.

The Covington/Kingsbury game was played at the fairgrounds (Right beside the liberty bowl). Don't know if the field has a name or not? Covington brought a big crowd and there was room for everyone to sit down. If you bring more people than visitor seats have avaliable I bet there will be plenty of seating on the home side. Parking is right by the filed in a fenced in lot. Did not have to pay for parking. The facilities were ok. I suggest eating a big supper before coming to the game. They only had 1 line going. Long wait. Overall the facilities were better than I expected. Anyone from Greenbrier staying the night in Memphis?

I was at the Covington/Kingsbury game last friday night. Kingsbury is a good team. Hard hitting defense. And a consistent offese. Watch out for the QB. He is very dangerous and very hard to tackle. He rushed the ball 21 times against Covington. Kingsbury ran a lot of option Friday night. They have a good running back also. Their passing game wasn't effective as their running game. Covington had their chances to win, With 5:00 left in the game ,Covington up by 1, Kingsbury was punting and a Covington player roughed the kicker. Kingsbury held on to the ball from there out and had game winning score with 9 seconds left. I bet Greenbrier will have more fans than Kingsbury will. They get no fan support. I gonna say Greenbrier 28- Kingsbury-19.

Covington's Chris Burnett #9- Wide Receiver/Running Back. Played Wide receiver most of the season until Covington's main RB went out with an injury. Chris should be able to play at the next level. He is an exciting player to watch.

Covington will be traveling to Kingsbury this Friday night to face a excellent Kingsbury team. What are some of your thoughts on this game? Anyone seen Kingsbury play this year? I heard the game is being played at the Fairgrounds. Has anyone else heard this?

Yesterday I was watching a NFL game and the receiver for I think Green Bay fumbled the ball foward and someone on his team recovered the fumble. The ball was brought back to the spot of the fumble and it was Green Bay's ball there.

The officials for the Covington vs RE game last Friday where equally bad. Covington had (I'm guessing) 15-20 penalties called on them. I know one player for Covington by himeself had 5. RE had 3-5 penalties total as a team. There is always holding somewhere on almost every play, but the officials have got to be consistent. I know Covington had some penalities, but 15-20? Come on. While RE did nothing wrong all night. RE passed the ball 25 times that game and I dont think there was 1 holding penalty on them. If the officiating for the Covington vs Kingsbury is gonna be the same, Covington might as well stay home. I say TSSAA should get some officials from Middle Tennessee to come down to give everyone a equal opportunity. Sounds like Ripley was robbed to me! Where was the Ripley/Kingsbury game held?

This time of year everyone has something hurting on them. You just have to play thru the pain.

I know a Covington running back injured his shoulder a few weeks ago against Milan. He was acouple yards short of 1,000 for the year. I had heard he was gonna be out a couple of weeks. Covington's Defense has been looking pretty good the last couple of weeks. The kicking game is the only part that has been struggling as of late. I hope it doesn't come down to kicking. I don't know what kind of kicking game RE has but from their 18-13 1st round win it could be weak. I'm looking for a slug fest, but Covington prevails 27-22.

What kind of kicking game does Kingsbury have this year? That could be crucial.
