OK, so how do you get Science Hill and Notre Dame as being in the top 4 or 5? I must be missing something somewhere. Are you basing it on some rankings or on performance?

Well, it sounds like that he will definitely be a contender since this is only his second year wrestling. Is he a sophomore? I am sure we will be hearing a lot from this guy if he is as good as you say. Not many heavy's will shoot, they just want to tie up and head throw. Good for him!

With all the new changes that have been made I just can't keep up with them all. Previously, each region sent 4 in each weight class to State, has that now been changed to 3?

But were they really cheerleaders, or just "matmaids"? There is a difference, you know.

Oh, please! Yea, they might know your name to yell during a cheer - big deal. Seriously now, as you are wrestling does the thought go through your head, "Oh goody, they are yelling my name as I wrestle. Wow, I am more inspired to wrestle harder and better because of them." I doubt it. And, as has been noted before, if they are cheerLEADERS, then they should be LEADING the cheer for the crowd and not just matside. It is not my intention to offend anyone who is, was, or has a wrestling cheerleader loved-one - it is just my opinion that they would be more useful in the stands or actually LEADING a cheer instead of pounding on the mat/floor. I am not saying to get rid of them, just put them where they could do more good. Just my opinion.

Well, that, at least, is the information posted on the school's website. Maybe I misread it. By the way, I was under the impression, initially, that he had been planning to play football at college. I guess he could get more "playing" time with wrestling than with football.

Agreed. We all seem to want our "rights" but often are not willing to help in maintaining our "rights". This website is not free for CoachT. The least we can do, if we enjoy and appreciate what he provides for us is to help support it. Just think, if "CoachT" wasn't here for us, we wouldn't even be on here griping! I think $12 is a real bargain for what we get. Just my opinion.

IF there are to be cheerleaders for wrestling, I think the proper place for them would be either in the stands or somewhere on the floor, AWAY from the mat. The football & basketball cheerleaders at least FACE THE CROWD to LEAD them in cheers - hence the term CheerLEADERS. With the so-called cheerleaders for wrestling, they sit at mat-side - who is cheering along with them? Certainly not the wrestlers! Come on - if there are to be cheerleaders - put them where they will do the most good - in the stands or somewhere actually LEADING cheers! (And YES, the Soddy & Bradley cheerleaders are awesome - they can actually do something other than pound on the mat!)

He is a red shirt freshman at Cumberland University.

One thing, though. This forum is hiding at the top of all the other wrestling forums, so, that could be part of the reason there haven't been so many responses. Give it time.

I agree with the middle school wrestling forum being a plus members board. This is, after all, a board for high school sports in Tennessee. So, I think CoachT is being more than generous in letting us have a forum here. That's my opinion.

Actually, Coach Masters is now at Sycamore High in Cheatham Co. It didn't work out for him to go to Northeast. Some big mess-up there. Crazy, if you ask me. Anyway, he is busy lining up matches for Sycamore. You can find him now under the screen name: CoachMasters.

Rossview was pretty tough last year and gave Clarksville a run for the money. Kenwood lost Johnny Masters, but has always been ready to take over. Who knows?
