  1. This is the same rule in Division I Class AAA: Oakland is one of the sites and it too will play on its homefield. If MTCS would have reached the state tournament, it would have played on its own field. Not saying it's fair they play on their home field. But don't think its right for fans and parents to be left to man everything at a field and miss their sons and team play at state. It's probably a good compromise.
  2. no DII players? What about Charles Rodriguez from Father Ryan or Stephen Morrissey from BGA ... or someone from JPII or Christian Brothers or Baylor or McCallie?
  3. I can tell you the TSSAA would change it back to one game if soccer had 10 games just like football. That's why they changed it during the last rule change -- i believe they added a game or two to soccer during last year's board meetings. Look at the amount of games played over a regular season and then see how proportionate it is to football.

    Z Plan?

Why talk about it though... they already know that system.
  5. Of course her mother is the coach. I don't think she's going anywhere -- unless her mother is hanging it up.
  6. Saturday's championship games are televised. Rest of the games you'll have about 2-3 options -- listen to the radio, check on at tssaa.org for updates during the day (or other media outlets) or you can venture to Murphy Center and see them in person.
  7. You can't reallign every two years because football contracts are two year deals (home and home). If you realligned every two years, you'd have to have totally new football scheds every year.
  8. I believe Maplewood beat Trezevant 46-6 -- so they did.
  9. Christian Brothers and McCallie's enrollments are doubled since they are all-boys schools.
  10. you can't play in an all-star game during the school year unless the sport is completed and you are up in eligibility. The game is Aug. 11. Smyrna goes back to school Aug. 9.
  11. Difference between Donald and Gray is simple if you look at the rule. Donald's football eligibility was over by the time January hit. Same goes with guys like Brandan Wright that play in the McDonald's All-American game. But Gray hasn't played his senior season of baseball. The sport that's being played has to be over.
  12. It's $5 but your point is made.
  13. Will Hockenberry be eligible this upcoming season or will he have to sit out?
  14. didn't she get hurt this year? hamstring or something?
  15. If Soddy went to DII then there would be a lot more than two from their team. Different level of comp from DII and AAA -- not saying the best are comparable... but many, many, many more better teams in AAA thand DII -- if for no other reason than the amount of teams.
  16. All good players don't get to state. Just because a team does make it, doesn't mean they have all-state caliber players. Remember, some regions are fairly weak. For some schools, if they can get out of their district, they have a smooth ride to state. If Riverdale didn't make it to state this year and Cat still set the NATIONAL H.S. record for strikeouts in a season, would that make her any less of a player? NO.
  17. a lawsuit over a two-game suspension for receiving a red card? I will laugh when I see that. If a player is ejected in any other sport they have to sit out. Fouling out of a basketball game is not being ejected. I guess you could say fouling out is like getting two yellows for a soft red in soccer. In that case there is no suspension. I believe every other sport has a two-game suspension except football. And they only have 10 games in a regular season. Soccer has how many games? It's simple. Tell players to keep their mouths shut and play the game clean. Do that and you won't get ejected. It's like any other sport.
  18. Until this is confirmed from a Riverdale person or a guy like David Limbaugh, I'd say this is a rumor.
  19. As far as the two-year-old kid being charged, there is a story on the CoachT home page from the DNJ that has Ronnie Carter saying they charge 2-year-olds at every state tournament... not just Spring Fling. I don't know if that helps. As far as charging to park, I was told it is up to the venue site to charge. I think there might have been a baseball site that didn't charge for parking.
  20. There is no must-win Friday. Overton and Franklin won't play again until Monday in the region tourney. That's plenty of time to rest for Johnson/
  21. i think only one player was tossed and that was for saying a word he shouldn't have after getting out.
  22. Some districts have it set up if they win the regular season they will automatically reach the region. Those teams still play in the district tournament. If they win it, they will be the No. 1 seed and get a home game. If they don't they will be the No. 2 seed and travel on that region semifinal. If the regular season champ doesn't make the final, then only the winner of the tournament will reach the region. But not all districts have that rule.
  23. I think you either have your sports wrong or your dates. It's kind of hard for someone to name an all-state team when the season is still going.
  24. There is no place on these boards to post allegations of recruiting by any private or public school just to "stir the pot." There are too many people that read things on this site that take what they read and consider it the truth.
  25. 4) A chance to raise funds. Pop Quiz - How much Rutherford County Tax Dollars go to support Riverdale/Oakland/Blackman/Siegel/Smyrna/Lavergne/Eagleville and MTCS baseball? I sure hope there is no Rutherford County Tax Dollars going to MTCS since it is a non-public school
