  1. Thanks Songwriter. Some weeks are EZ'er than others. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> This week is a good one cuz' our Lady Cats are playing for a back-to-back Volleyball Championship, not so hot for our Bobcats that are done after tomorrow night. BUT, we'll play the game and give it our best. With a little rebuilding, we WILL be back! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  2. I'm in total agreement with YOU. I only have a son left in school that doesn't play sports, but this post fires me up because these individual girls do NOT need to have their names used in an argument between what should be ADULTS. Would YOU listen to your child be slammed like this? You bet your sweet tooth that I wouldn't! If you want to disagree on which TEAM is better then do it without singling out particular players. These are KIDS, people. Let the girls play without the parents wearing chips on their shoulders. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  3. With that on Halloween night, the temperatures, and the standings, the WH gate just lost money. People will Tivo the game and take the kiddies trick or treating.
  4. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Who needs Jerry Springer?
  5. GO Lady CATS! I've got previous appointments for tonight for I'll have my laptop and be checking in on the score! BEAT EAST RIDGE and take it back to STATE! You girls are AWESOME!
  6. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> You are funny. Hey, that gives me an idea. The school has Powder Puff games for the girls. I think they should have a game for the Old Dads. That would be one I'd pay to watch. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  7. I'm sure it will come as no surprise this was happening even when yours were playing. It appears from the last post someone still is.
  8. Ihatethewingt, thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! I really enjoyed this post! Just hate that Catfish wasn't here to read it (although he's probably lurking amongst us). Those names brought back a lot of football memories of sitting in the stands cheering them on. I vaguely remember watching Derek Lucas, and then the others are fresher in my memory. I remember the many good plays by these guys, especially the ones by Derek, Justin, Jamie, Matthew, Bobby, Burkalter, and many others. Just off the top of my head, Hadjdu also comes to mind as a as well as the more recent the Williams' (C and D), the Pigg brothers, the Dickerson brothers and cousin, and the Dill brothers, along with MANY others that have made a difference at Greenbrier. There is no argument the Bobcats haven't had it's big playmakers to anyone that is Bobcat fans. And thanks for the information of Mrs. Wilhelm. I didn't know that tidbit. I'm "round about" related to them and have known the Nash clan for a very long time. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Good luck to both teams but I have to root for family on this one! Go JH!!
  10. This coming Friday night will be Greenbrier's Senior Recognition Night. It's hard to believe that this season has gone so fast and this will be the last home game for the Class of 2009. These boys have meant a lot to me personally because they are my son's friends and classmates. They will be missed at Greenbrier for their talent, athleticism, academics, and personalities will be something that will be remembered long after the season ends. Great job Class of 2009! We've enjoyed watching you grow up and play football! You will be missed! 10 Clint Ford 15 Cody Elder 16 Zack Ziegler 22 Tyler Mench 50 Derek Pryne 56 Dustin Clay 57 Cory Pryne 59 Lee Holliman 60 Blake Pearce 80 Chris Thole 87 Brandon Teel 90 Justin Brogdon Good luck in whereever your road takes you!
  11. Cat, talked to CP this morning and heard what was going on. I don't have your email so look me up when you get back to G'brier. Hope your sis is ok.
  12. Same ole, same ole.....DL will add another Gold one.
  13. You wouldn't know us, we're from Greenbrier. If you are Christian's mom, maybe you remember that UT visit back in the spring at the Orange/White Day. When the tour guide person asked if anyone was going to play sports and he held up his hand. I think I asked him who he played for and when he told us SC, I asked if his name was Reed. I think it came up then that we were from Greenbrier. I have relatives at SC. Well good luck on the choices of colleges. With his leg he should have college pretty well covered. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  14. Bisonmom, I don't know if you're his mom, or not , but we met Christian on a UT Tour back in the summer when I was up there with my Senior. We spoke briefly. He's a good kicker. Is he being recruited by UT?
  15. First I apologize to WH and PC for replying on YOUR thread but that is the venue. Catfish, I read that DeKalb thread and I think it takes someone looking for something to be offended about to take that as a bash. It was simply stating that DeKalb's Poteete may be the difference maker on their team and when he graduates he may be hard to replace. I don't see anyone but you saying they were bashed. Could it be you're just looking for fault? If you're appying to be the CoachT police, is it any different than the post you made naming our past players that have nothing to do with high school football anymore? Bringing their names into your rant was totally over the line. I read between the lines that you have a lot of happiness that Greenbrier is eliminated by the way you point out missing the playoffs two out of the last three years. I am sure it must really irk you even more that Greenbrier is still ahead of Sycamore in the series, and that Greenbrier has beaten Cheatham County three years straignt. I'm sure we'll read of you cheering on PC this coming week, and Macon the week after. Greenbrier will find their rhythm again and I wouldn't count them out of another win or two in the rest of the season. They will not stay down no matter how much you want them to. Thanks BDPO79 for your comment. Regardless of the standings, the Bobcats won't be too "spooked" to spend Halloween with the Devils. Good chance for subs to get in some good play. Fire away Catfish. We know you will.
  16. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I finally met GBCat and I promise you he AND Greenbrier will live through a down season for the Cats. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> It happens to most teams eventually. Greenbrier had a big emotional loss early this year, and I think that's had a bigger affect on the Cats than most people see. We're still proud of our team and our guys and will ocntinue to be. We're no different than others; PC is down, SC's been down, DeKalb's been down, Sycamore's been down, Macon's been down. The only team that has really stayed near the top consiistently is White House, Like them or not Catfish, they deserve some credit for that. Just as you say Pearl Cohn will be back, rest assured Greenbrier never stays down for long, And I don't look for that to change. Again, congrats to the Blue Devils.
  17. Greenbrier has a softball state championship, a volleyball state championship (hopefully working on another one), back-to-back girls polevault state championship and a football state runner up....all in the last 5 years.... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  18. Good Luck to SC!! GO #20!!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  19. I agree with the majority of the above, but then I comprehended the question of wanting opinions. The Tigers have a good team this year and have turned the corner. Rebuilding years come to every team except for ones that constantly reload like Maryville, Alcoa, Lipscomb and White House. In smaller schools like DeKalb (and Greenbrier) the talent pool ebbs and flows. DeKalb is doing great this year behind their qb and will make noise in the playoffs. Poteete may not have a understudy as good as he is. It's hard to get time in as a qb with one whose presence is so vital on the field. Other than that, talent comes and goes for all schools. It's the nature of the beast.
  20. Catfish, you can be assured the Bobcats won't lay down for the War Eagles. So, you're saying Cody Elder, Mason Head, or Treavor Thaxton aren't playmakers? You sang their praises after the Cheatham game and Greenbrier beat Cheatham County like a drum. If I were either coach, I wouldn't be "making guarantees" way ahead of time. If Sycamore thinks that intimidates Greenbrier, they are disillusioned.
  21. When I first read this, I thought surely not. It doesn't seem possible. But sadly, I find it's true. I didn't know Shane personally, but I could pick him out in the crowd. He was Jestin's biggest supporter, and was very proud of Treavor too. It was written all over him. Even though I had never introduced myself to him, he stood next to me at the stadium at the Springfield scrimmage and struck up a conversation with my grandchild. It just seemed the kind of guy he was, to never ignore a child. It is Greenbrier's loss that this geniunely nice guy has been taken far too soon. My prayers go out to all of his family and friends.
