  1. Hate those BYE weeks! Need my Friday night "football fix"! I'm ready for 7:30 tonight right now. Ready or not, Beech, here the BOBCATS come.
  2. Being away, I'm sure Beech, as well as their coach, Traye Aric (a Greenbrier grad) is hungry for THIS win, so I don't want to get too greedy BUT I'll go with: Greenbrier 13 Beech 6 Don't disappoint us, Traye!
  3. While White House's is undoubtly the nicest stadium in the area, lots of parking, large homeside bleachers, when they draw a large gate for some of the teams they play, it would really be nice if they would get a larger bleachers for the visitor side (although larger than ours) of the field, and have it a little more easily accessible. Along with that, the width of the field with track gives NO audio on the visitor's side from the sound system.
  4. White House Heritage (Patriots) is actually a Robertson County team, while White House (Blue Devils) is the Sumner County team. The town of White House is split by Hwy 31W, the Sumner/Robertson county line, and until this past year all the town's students had attended Robertson County for primary and elementary years and then moved to Sumner County for middle and high school. The agreement between the counties was dissolved at the beginning of last year and thus Sumner County built their own elementary school in WH, and a Robertson County White House Heritage School was formed in the refurbished elementary school (6-12) and the primary school (Woodall) houses K-5. Haven't seen their team play but know that they are working on building a team and like the previous post said, they will take some beatings like the White House team did MANY moons ago, and will most likely become stronger and better as years pass.
  5. It appears the the Greenbrier-Lipscomb game was taped by the GHS media class. It is showing today on the community channel.
  6. I'm a Greenbrier parent and I can honestly say that I don't know who the person you speak of is (but think I might from your description). Hope anyone who reads this will realize that we are not all the same in personality, but as a high school football fan, every team "feels their wheaties" from time to time and may be taken the wrong way. At Greenbrier, we are just beginning to push our boundaries after getting to the second round of the playoffs last year. Normally, our team and supporters are good sports with class....we want to continue that tradition.
  7. Portland has a train whistle, AND they have a train track behind the football stadium, so it gets really noisy there. They have been known to bring their train whistle to Greenbrier. We have a train track that is across the street from the school and although some people that have lived here all their lives claim to "not even hear it anymore", it's enough to drive me crazy sometimes. Maybe it is a middle TN thing...I've never seen anyone but Portland have one. > [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-25-02 12:47P]
  8. Jeff..your kind references to Greenbrier show alot of class for Crockett County. Alot of teams would not let the Bobcats forget that one "lousy" point, but you certainly make the loss alot easier. We in Greenbrier have witnessed the good sportmanship of our kids all year, and it means alot to have a team that we gave a good run for the money say the same. Hope we see some more playoffs in Greenbrier...but just to let you know, we have a train here too! But we have no control over the CSX conductor maddening horn blowing Hope you win it all Crockett County! You deserve it.
  9. Ever see a smart-mouthed kid with the mouth overloading their behind? That was Marshall County. As a parent it has become "politically incorrect" to spank that child, but when it comes to a football team, thank goodness that Crockett County could give Marshall a severe "attitude adjustment." And with a shutout to boot. WOW! Congrats Cavaliers...hope you take it all the way! [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-23-02 9:33P]
  10. Greenbrier is getting tougher by the year. Keep your eye on them.
  11. I know this is not my "fight" but isn't Marshall 11 wins and ONE loss this year? I guess that means there was SOME-ONE.
  12. After last night, I was really indifferent to which team wins next week.... But I've changed my mind....GO CROCKETT.
  13. As football season ends for the Bobcats, I just wanted to make a comment to the Greenbrier team and fans to thank you. As football seasons have come and gone, Greenbrier has gone through many changes, ups, downs and our two "backyard" rivalries, one that it seems we can never get the edge on (0-21) and one that we've finally begun to overcome (3-1) . BUT, this year has been a season of firsts. This year Greenbrier has 1)won its first season opener since before the current roster was in high school, 2) finished second in its region since the current TSSAA format, 3) had one 1,000-yard rusher and another miss the milestone by 85 yards (in regular season, but since then I'm sure he's surpassed 1,000), 4) been undefeated at home, 5) not only hosted it's first playoff, but 6) also won it in a 27-0 shutout, and 7) then gone on to the second round to hold an undefeated team down to a ONE point win. And that is just what the Bobcats have done ON the field. In the stands and the community, it has been like a ripple in a pond..the parents, community and alumni have grown closer, become pumped up and the Bobcat Pride has been overwhelming. Tom Kreager from the Robertson County Times couldn't have made a better comparsion than when he compared it to the birth of an new era. And in bigger circles, I believe the Tennessee high school football teams are reflecting on the name Greenbrier with a little more attention..a little more respect. They will be seeing our Bobcats DEEP in many playoffs for years to come. The talent on our team is only growing stronger and this year has been the fuse to light the explosion. So, again thank you Greenbrier Bobcat players. Hats off to our Seniors and to the underclassmen...it's your turn. To the Greenbrier fans, lets carry this enthusiasm over to all of our sports...be at the basketball games (nice and dry in there) and cheer just as loud. These are our Kids! Let's support them. And to the rest of Tennessee....LOOK OUT! The Greenbrier Bobcats are here to stay [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-16-02 11:47A] [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-17-02 12:32A]
  14. Congratulations to Crockett. To the Bobcat team, way to go, guys. I know it's disappointing to have lost, but you have raised the bar for our team. You've done GREAT and Greenbrier is VERY proud of you. [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-17-02 12:45A]
  15. Does anyone know if Crockett - Greenbrier will be on the net? I REALLY want to know how the game is going without having to wait for the 10:00 News. [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-15-02 5:22P]
  16. Crow is not my favorite food and I'm not winning "The Big Ones" so I'd be better off not predicting a score. I think I'll just sit back and see.. One thing's for sure. Both teams are going to know they played ball when it's time to roll out of bed Saturday.
  17. Is it just me or is everyone else CONSTANTLY thinking football strategy? I can't wait! I'm getting ready to pack my car. Let's see, here's my Carly Simon's "Anticipation", my Conway Twitty's "Never Been This Far Before", and ah, Yes..."Cat Scratch Fever".... Anybody wanna ride? Let's go! I'm ready for Friday Night Football! GO CATS!
  18. Wow, Cav...you ARE talking about GREENBRIER aren't you? (just messin' with ya)
  19. I know both teams will come with hopes high and giving it more their all. Greenbrier has had little success in getting to this point before, and have gotten little or no respect in the past. But this year's team is different. To quote NoDoubt they are a big machine that's running well right now. Unforunately, only one team can go home winning the game. While personally I can hope that it's Greenbrier and they can climb to new heights (no pun on the mountain/hill post intended) and gain the respect they have worked for so hard, I think both of these teams will play with a mutual agreement that it's not about the past, only tomorrow night. And they will both play with the sportmanship, heart and class that a true win is all about. Good luck to both teams! *Go Greenbrier!*
  20. I may be eating my words Saturday morning, and I may be a little partial, but my "gut instinct" says I think the Bobcats will pull this one out. I guess too it may be because I've SEEN the Bobcats play. I will have to admit that I didn't realize until yesterday that Crockett was state runner up last year....that kinda dampened my pumped up spirits BUT...I think if the Bobcats don't win..it will be CLOSE
  21. Glad everyone is okay in Crockett County. It was a rough ride this weekend, and I agree...we're not promised another minute, so we need to live like today is our last. The Greenbrier Bobcats and Company are pumped and ready to head to Crockett County for a good game of football. Not looking forward to the drive but watching our team is definitely worth it. Being the underdogs is not new to the Bobcats over the last few years but our team is coming on strong. Between the two teams, it will definitely be an exciting game. Good luck to both teams...I look forward to a good, injury-free game portraying sportmanship, and played with alot of heart on both sides.
  22. >>I was told the sherriff had to be admitted to the hospital because of chest pains, I haven't heard anything as far as his condition. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. >>I know there was some major damage in middle TN due to this storm and we should all keep those affected and their families in our prayers. My prayers are already being offered for all these people..I can't imagine what the ones in all the affected counties are going through, especially in Morgan County where SO many are still missing. What a horrible tragedy.. I agree that when hard times come, it brings out the best in most people but it sure is sad to know that people have lost families and friends in the blink of an eye. God doesn't promise even one more minute and times like this put so many things into proper perspective.
  23. Answer...I liked your predictions last week and I liked it even better because you were RIGHT! However, now I'm depressed, it sure doesn't make me want to drive for 3 hours to watch the outcome you are both predicting... Buuuuuuuuttttt....I think I'll go anyway! No offense, but it sure would be great to get to WATCH you be wrong. [Edited by EZBeingGreen on 11-11-02 11:53P]
