  1. We bought a recorder that transfers VHS to DVD's a few months ago. With VHS becoming obsolete, I gathered a box of VHS that we have that are unlabeled and decided to check the content of each one before getting rid of it. Last night I popped the first unlabeled tape in and it was Greenbrier's 2003 Homecoming game vs. Sycamore. It was cool to see the old players like Hunter Norton, Clint Russell and Roger Herndon on the field again. That one will go to DVD just in case anyone gets a thirst for nostaglia. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  2. 5sport I asked my son (who has been in the class with the Arnolds and the Prynes for years) if he could tell them apart. Even though he has classes with "one of them", he said he really can't tell the difference. In some apects I am sure it would be cool to be a twin and have someone to be that close. In other aspects, I would imagine it would be tiring to have to explain which one you are, and stand on your own acheivements instead of people always trying to remember which one did what. Imagine how many of their conversations start with "uhhh...which one are you?" :/ I do agree with you ...when both the Kaysi and Kayla, and Derek and Corey graduate, Greenbrier will miss what they bring to our sports programs.
  3. Thanks for the invite! We look forward to it, however by the time we get thru Nashville Friday afternoon traffic, if we want seats on that visitor side, we may have to go directly to the bleachers.
  4. We lost a coach after 2006 that made a BIG /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> difference already. There's enough player change year to year. I hope the coaching staff remains for a few year anyway. GO CATS...Good Luck tonight!!! Make it count!
  5. It's NOT the kids fault that the adults can't do math. It makes NO sense to try to solve it by preventing the kids from doing math, either. Let the kids go back to school during the day. The adults may want to try it at night. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  6. Dandy I don't want to be accused of some kind of bowing down, but I think this is what moderators are for. Some just don't comprehend when it's not funny or amusing anymore.
  7. If you haven't been following this everchanging story, it will sound like "censorship". On the other hand, in defense of censorship, how many times can you get booted for the same type of behavior before it becomes understood that it's NOT acceptable? CoachT has been more than fair on second, third--fourth chances. Sometimes ENOUGH is really ENOUGH.
  8. Congratulations to Eagleville! Well, it turns out our Bobcats bye week coincides with the Eagleville vs. WHH game, and I'm looking forward to going to the game. I hear my son's old neighborhood playmate is Eagleville's QB and a friend from high school transferred to WHH where his mom teaches now and plays for the Patriots. Solves my question of where to spend an open Friday night and to see two good teams play. Best of luck to all the teams in this region.
  9. Go Goodpasture! Hey CM....I hope you get to play! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. It's all going to be who messes with the mind the most. If David Lipscomb jumps out front and messes with Fulton's mojo, a few mistakes here or there could cost the game. I get the impression that Fulton fans are sure of themselves, but the boys may be a little more jittery. And if Lipscomb is going in thinking about last years' game, they may have the jitters themselves and get down on themselves early if Fulton busts a couple of big plays right from the start. Fulton's speed and confidence is a big factor, whereas David Lipscomb's skill of winning close ones and their determination may be a factor too. It will be a good game. Thank goodness for TIVO! I'm rooting for our friendly rivals at Lipscomb!
  11. With the post season over I just wanted to say congratulations, thank you and good luck to the Greenbrier Bobcat Senior players. You have had great leadership in the former players that led you and you boys have stepped up and led as well. The memories you will have of your high school years hold a vast array of milestones,. You boys have experienced the highs and lows of high school football, from the Road to the Boro in your freshmen year to this year with a short postseason and all that lies between. We at Greenbrier are proud of each and every one of you and we thank you for your committment, your dedication and the memories you have given us. You have much to be proud of. Just like your fans, always be proud to be a Greenbrier Bobcat. Good Luck in future endeavors.
  12. You should have stopped at the parody of the streak, Dandy. You're losing your touch. Simon would send you packing.
  13. I was kinda surprised at the "not from here" statement too. Since WHEN do you have to be FROM a place to be FOR it? If that were the case all schools would have a lot less fans because people DO grow up and move sometimes. My own father can't believe I root for a team other than my alma mater and neither can some of my former classmates BUT when I became a parent I became my children's fans and if they attend Greenbrier that is who I root for wholeheartedly without hesitation or reservation. So if living here for most of their school days doesn't make me "from here" then that's messed up. And on another note, I spoke to someone today that knows 71 very well. They were telling me to get him to react in a negative manner must have been something, because that is not at all like him. From what I've seen he is a mild-mannered young man that loves this sport. I truly hope his teammates will find a way for him to play another game.
  14. Way to go, Green! I didn't get to make it to the game Friday night, but I will for sure be at the game Friday night. I was so glad to hear the final score! It sure seems like a long time when you're wondering what's going on. You boys know you're in our thoughts. Have a great week of practice, patch the holes, build a wall, and blockers, open so tunnels! Lets make this a big one. Play hard! From what I hear the school enrollment number is, we'd have to gain about 100-125 kids to move up. I don't think that will happen by 2009, the next re-classification.
  15. Not mine. Leaning toward UT or Vandy at graduation.
  16. I only realized today that Greenbrier was their season low in rushing yards allowed. But hey what can you do when you have to run through three 3OO+ pounders to get some yardage. Polk has a a long ride to think about those numbers.
  17. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I never knew you spoke Prophetic Greenbrierian /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  18. Not me. I'll have a sad face on the way. I don't even want to be in the same general vicinity with the ex. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Other than that, game talk. Greenbrier plays smashmouth football. We don't have any one star player but a team full of boys that can play some football. Our defense has been strong this year, and our offense has had some sluggish moments, but find a way to move the ball. We know it don't matter to you about what games we played, but we schedule other class games like private schools David Lipscomb and Pope John Paul II and 4A Portland to give us a look at different schools. Our school is 7 miles south of Springfield (a name I saw from the other thread) and 30 miles north of Nashville so we will have to travel for about a little over 2 hours. Our team has a strong fanbase so we usually fill up the visitor stands. In fact when we traveled to Kingsbury (Memphis) for the semi-finals three years ago, we had more people than the homeside. oh, yeah----This "ain't our first rodeo" so don't kid yourselves into thinking that because our fans don't go a little over the top that our boys don't want this game. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Here's to an injury free game.
  19. We have had friendly bashing for a while here which has not a thing to do with GB......and BTW Polk Co is a rival..........Most guys on here are friends........... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>CHARGERS WIN/roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. For Greenbrier fans: From my understanding two fan buses have been chartered. Contact the school to get on the list (first come first serve?) $25 a seat. Susie Stubblefield has the checklist of passengers. Will load at 1:45 and leave at 2pm sharp from First Baptist parking lot. Of course there will be a lot of families that drive, so go to McMinn Central! Let's show them the support we gave the Lady Cats State Champs! For ones wanting to follow the team bus, check with the school to find out their departing time and location.
  21. Here's an "observation" for you. MonroeSports has 4 posts, none of them about any "RobCo" (not even a typical term around here) school except to say that McMinn Central will win or a comment about a "typical" Greenbrier fan, which I'm pretty sure he knows nothing about. Kind of odd, don't you think that he knows more about teams across the state than here in good ole' RobCo. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Another thing, this is Monday. A long time til Friday. McMinn Central won a Region championship and I'm sure you're proud, but that stuff is old hat around here so pardon us if we don't bow down. I know I don't play on the team, and I'm pretty sure that most of the people posting for MC here don't either unless you have a truancy problem. So let me give you a little equation you might not be familiar with---what YOU say, or what WE say equals ZERO. So with four days left til game time if Region 3 wants to talk smack, go right ahead. The only thing we know about each other so far is what we read here (other than you might want to call up Meigs and ask them about their last trip to Greenbrier) and that Region 4 swept 3 last year. Yeah, yeah, you've improved, but you ain't the only ones. So keep talking. Run up the pages and give everyone reading material. But until Friday, don't forget, it's ALL Cowpasture patties and don't mean a hill of beans. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  22. What HE said.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. Station Camp's score last week is just enough to make them mad. A region title is just enough to pump them up (more than normal). Not a good sign for Meigs.
  24. I circled by the field a few minutes ago and those Greenbrier bleachers are blinding in the sun. The field looks like perfection and is very peaceful in midday. In just a few hours it will be the loudest place in Robertson County. I think we pretty much root for each other every other week but this one but let's get down to the backyard brawl. To the Bobcats of Greenbrier: Whatever the record is has nothing to do with most of the boys on the field tonight. That was other teams and another time. Tonight you have the chance to show us what the 2007 Bobcats can do. We are proud to be Bobcats whatever the score is to be and even the Devils can't take that away. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> To our Senior players, it has been an extreme pleasure watching you play football. From the quarterback to the seniors standing on the sidelines, you guys make up such a big part of what makes hundreds come out to watch this team. Thank you for the great performances and for teaching the ones coming after you what the word Team really means. You will all be missed. Make tonight a great memory. Go CATS!!
