My niece plays for East Ridge so I went to watch her play and me and my wife decided to stay for the boys game. I noticed that while the East Ridge boys were shooting at halftime of the girls game, they looked shorthanded. Then when the third quarter started, three of East Ridges players showed up late. Then I noticed when the boys game started, these three boys were starters on the team. I myself, as well as many upset parents, could not believe the lack of discipline that takes place with the boys basketball team. They wore their shorts sagging so far you could see their behinds, they mouthed off during the whole game and made many obscene gestures to the other team, and their biggest player fouled a player from Hixson and then received a technical for running his mouth to the referees and the coach from East Ridge puts him back in the game later, just to win the game, another player was sent out of the game for mouthing to another Hixson player. I was very disappointed in the representation of East Ridge boys basketball team, can't really understand how a principal or coach would let things happen in this manner. No discipline at all. It is a shame that a coach would let his players act and treat him this way. His players even talked back to him in a very disrespectful way, telling him what they were and weren't going to do. I know Ron Baker would have never put up with any of this.

It is really hard to say how this will turn out. I think both teams are very young and it will probably take them most of the season to mature and get better. I agree with the coaching part, I think they both have veteran coaches that know how to get their teams ready for the post season when it really counts. This game could be a toss up but I would really look for these two teams to be successful come playoff time.

I heard Hixson was very young and very small. Is this the case? Sounds like a good win for Sequatchie.

What was the kids name that got thrown out of the game?

With teams leaving 6AA and new teams coming in, how will this district be next year and will it be as competitive as it was this year?

I watched the Hixson girls play the other night and noticed that they are getting better. I know their record doesn't show it but I heard that they have been through alot already this season. All the girls that went to camp in the summer did not return for basketball season due to the volleyball coach telling them to not play basketball and wait to play softball, what a shame, no class, they had a change in coaches, their best player tore her ACL, and every night they are playing with all freshmen. What a tough way to start out the year. The only way is up for the girls but they seem to hustle most of the game and look like they are getting better so GOOD LUCK HIXSON GIRLS!!!

I don't think anyone should count out anyone because each team is different and much better at the end of the season than they are at the beginning. Bledsoe County proved that in their district tournament last year against East Ridge and Howard continues to defend as District Champions and Region Runner-up. It could probably be anyone's chances at the end of the season but all that matters is who is playing in the Championship games.

What about Hixson Gomab? What players would you like to see from there at this great event?

mnewabller21. Nicks stats were not completed until after the season and these are career stats not this seasons stats so when you have some comment, just shut your face. Unless you seen or knew how the kid played, you don't know nothing so again, you need to keep your trap shut.

Nick averaged more than 18 points a game in three years of varsity play, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals, and 5 blocked shots per game. He scored over 1500 career points in three years of varsity play. In the past few years, Hixson hasn't been well known for basketball but the program is definitely on the uprise. Three years ago they just had 9 wins, last year just 19 wins, but this year they had 28 wins and lost in the region semifinals by 2.

I am looking for an AAU team in the Chattanooga area. I know some students that want and need to play on a team but I don't know of any teams. These kids are sophomores and juniors with alot of Varsity playing time that don't play baseball. Could someone please leave me names and numbers of people that I could contact. Thanks!

Red Bank is getting out of hand a little bit as far as discipline. The community is a good place to live but the students are getting more rowdy. Ooltewah is a good place but there are alot of kids up there. About the same way at Soddy. Hixson is a good place to live and a good school. Their athletics are on the uprise.
