  1. Just asking...not able to attend game tonight, but thought HC's D was a little better than allowing DC's offense to score 27 points. I have watched or listened to all games of DC's this year and this is not a very good football team. I have watched some of our area JR PRO teams play and they show more enthusiasm for the game than this version of Cougar football does. I am not bashing the boy's, I as well as a lot of people in DC think it is time for a change!! Too many athletes in the hallways not coming out for football because of the coach. Bad situation in DC!!
  2. HC would not run the score up on poor pitiful DC would they??
  3. After attending this game tonight, I can tell you one thing....talk about lack of energy! I watched kids walking back to the huddle like they could care less about the game, almost no hustle during the most critical times in the game. At times it seemed like the kids looked over to the sidelines and wanted the coaches to help, but I saw no sense of urgency or enthusiasm from the coaches and you can not blame that on the kids!! Blown assignments on offense and especially on the defensive side of the ball, I know it is only the second game of the season, but come on....you are the coach, if a senior kid does not want to hustle and bust his rear on every play, sit him down and put in a soph. or freshman who wants to play! I saw Columbia " run back on the field " after halftime and were jumping around, firing up the crowd and the coaches were right there with them. What was DC doing? Walking down the sidelines, no fire or enthusiasm, coaches doing nothing to fire them up or get them excited about a 14-14 game....my goodness, you are still in this game!! I saw one kid who showed emotion the whole ballgame (#35) and he never slowed down, never gave up. I have watched DC football for 30 plus years and have defended them and gave the coaches a lot of slack for lackluster performances, but as a lot of people around here think and I am almost ready to join them in thinking this, but it might be time for a change! If you can't get the kids excited to come out for football and you can't get them excited during the game, you might need to do a reality check and let someone else take a shot at the position. I know the coach is a fine man, but maybe his passion has faded a little bit? This is just my opinion, and I am usually the last one to blame coaches for wins and losses, but I will blame the coaches for lack of enthusiasm and desire to win. This is what you preach to them in practice, and I have watched practices over the last couple of years and it is the same thing... walk back to the huddle, don't finish blocks, arm tackling, NO hustle at all !! The kids have to want to play and the coaches have to MOTIVATE, that's what a coach is suppose to do!! Sorry, rant over!! Go Cougars!!
  4. Maybe pats73 should go back to HC if he does not like what he is watching in DC !!! The coaching staff in DC has to play the athletes that come out for the football team just like any sport at DC or any other school for that matter! I have been told over the last few years that a lot of the better athletes in this school have chose to play one sport only (basketball, baseball, golf, wrestling, etc...) and with that coach wanting them to concentrate on that particular sport and all of the AAU and travel ball time requirements, the kids and their parents can't afford or do not want them play 2 or 3 sports. Also, there are the kids that have the ability and size that chose to not play any sports because they want a JOB, vehicle, girlfriends,(or boyfriends) and some have grown up playing football on video games and think you are crazy if you think they are going to spend time in the spring & summer, working out in 90 degree heat and sweating! Also, you throw in going from 1 high school in the county with 2200 students to 2 high schools and split your athletes in half, it does make a difference. I am not trying to make excuses for the decline (???) of football in DC, but if pats73 has anything to say about it, maybe we should just give up and play softball !! Please do not blame the coaches either, they can only play the players that want put out the effort and compete on Friday nights, This also is not a slam on the fine program at HC either, I was only saying that if pats73 did not like what he is seeing at DC, just watch some other football and let DC "go by the way", what ever he means by that.
  5. After watching Dickson Co. scrimmage both teams in pre-season, I have to go with the Patriots in this one. Beech has a stable full of backs (again) and special teams could help the Bucs pull it out when all is said and done, but I believe HC has too much depth. This game will be decided in the trenches and HC has done pretty well on both sides of the football in the past few years. Patriots by 2 TD's!!
  6. How was FHS "a much better team"? How did FHS let DC stay in the game? Did you have your TV on the same channel as the rest of middle Tennessee? DC did lose the battle but as anyone could see, they never gave up and could have won the game with the FG late in the game. I do not agree with your opinion at all !!
  7. SIR...as my post said, the school board probably could care less what district we play in or who we play on Friday night's, they have a job to do and that job is to see that children are educated in our community and education comes before athletics and that is the way it should be. In regards to the post made from oldref, he said he was going to call his friends on the school board and make some noise, so to speak, but that will not do any good because each school administration makes scheduling decisions in athletics from the principal down to the the AD. Maybe he can call them? I did not say that playing this game would harm the education process in any way at all, so I do not understand how you got that impression, as a matter of fact I said that I would love for the rivalry to continue but I have no control over the situation. Also, if you are saying I am detatched from the community you have no clue at all because I have been involved in sports in DC for almost 40 years in one way or another. That was not a politically correct statement, just the facts about most school boards across the state, and I do agree that community involvment is crucial at all high schools and does make a difference on these kids playing sports, boys and girls, and they will remember it the rest of their lives. GO DC!!
  8. Oldref58... I think Mr. Weeks is actually from Sumner Co., not Williamson Co. and I know he and his family will eventually move to DC sometime soon. I myself like the move to district 11-AAA but would have liked to see the HC game saved, but seems BOTH schools could not agree on an open date. Sad situation but maybe we can see what happens in 2 years or so and get this going again. I do not think the school board will care about a rivalry game against HC, or anyone else for that matter, when their emphasis is on education and not just one football game as it should be. Good luck to HC and GO DC!!
  9. OK... how can you have that many open dates when you are in a eight team district?? It does not matter who did this or said that, I myself hate to see this game come to an end after 30 plus years. It was always a pleasure to play HC at home and in Paris and I will miss this rivalry very much no matter what is said on this site. Unless you have played in this game as I myself have in three different sports (a few years ago might I add), you do not realize how special it was. Maybe we can start it again some time down the road, I can only hope!!
  10. Just as I expected, HC faithful blaming DC for this situation when TSSAA putting us in a new district. Olddevil were you there and personaly heard a representative from DC say what you quoted? Please do not say DC was tired of losing to HC because the record was pretty even overall for 35 years and I personaly was hoping we could continue the rivalry but if your having trouble scheduling in your new district you have to make difficult decisions about certain games. HC would have the same problem if put in a new district and maybe whoever you guys pick up you will show a little more respect for that schools rituals on their home field after a game ends. Several representatives from the media and a few college recruiters said it was not a very classy act. Good luck to HC!!
  11. NotreDame66... I told you that MJ had more speed than BHS, and looks like the battle of the trenches was won by MJ also. MJ is very physical and one of the most fundamentaly sound football teams left in any classification, they do not make many mistakes and coaching staff is good. Also, spray those pads real good with disinfectant before storing them away!! (ha ha) See you next year in district play!!
  12. MSURacer, it looks like that is the case. Hopefully we can continue our HC, DC rivalry game as we have for 30 plus years. Although, according to NDame66 we (including HC) are not good enough to even be on the field with such superior teams from WilCo schools. We have been in their district before and more than held our own against them and we will play where the TSSAA tells us to play. Hope you and HC football team have a good off season and your team will be back next year, no problem, alot of talent coming up from young players. Go DC!
  13. Yep... I have figured it out, you are an idiot!! By the way, are you a BHS fan or an IHS fan? Not that it matters much because you still have no class!!
  14. NDame666...you are either a 5 yr. old child or a complete idiot... I am really not sure, but I am done with your complete disregard for any other schools success. Good luck to the Bruin faithful and team that shows a little class, unlike NDame666!
  15. We will see how good BHS's defense is next week, and DC may be moving to a new cupcake district next year with all the powder puffs in WilCo. and their gracious fans who think they are the only ones who deserve to play football in Tennessee! Go DC!
