  1. Are you talking about Huntland being tied for 5th in the win/loss rankings for single A - Middle TN.? Lighten up, it only goes by a teams winning percentage of scores people have turned in. If you'll click on their name you can see who they've played. I also noticed that one of their scores hasn't been turned in. If they won that game they could be tied for 4th.
  2. I think the score in the scoreboard section is wrong. Anybody know the score or what happened?
  3. I think the score in the scoreboard section is wrong. Anybody know the score or what happened?
  4. The scoreboard section has Summertown winning both the girls and boys games by a score of 93-69. Is this score right for both games?
  5. Vol Gen, You said those schools that stayed in D1 were told in which class they would compete. It's my understanding that any school is free to compete in any class as long as they move up in class. I may be wrong but I think for many years, when all the schools were together, Brentwood Acad. had the enrollment for 1-A, but since they obviously would have had little or no competition they moved up. When there were 3 classes they played in AA, when the switch was made to five they moved to 5A. Also, in looking at the TSSAA records, that in the years when BA was in 5A in football, they were competing in lower classes for their other sports. Basically they were picking and choosing what class they wanted for each sport. After all this and reading other posts what do you think BA should have been doing? Should they have been playing in 1A for all their sports because that what their enrollment was? Should they have moved up in class as long as all sports were in that one class? Or was what they were doing o.k.? And as far as saying that the schools were playing by the rules and are getting kicked out...you know as well as I do that the rules are changed all the time, this isn't the first time. Looking at boys basketball, there was only one state champ crowned until 1973 when they started having small and large school champs. In '76 it went up to 3 classes; in '98 it went to 4 classes after adding D2. I'm sure that whether or not there is a split it won't be the last change either.
  6. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's noticed this and there may be posts about this in other threads but... While all this debate is going on about the public-private split, I've noticed in a few articles and conversations that say putting all the private schools in their own division would be unfair ....TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS. Their reason regards putting aid-giving and non-aid-giving schools in the same division. It just seems odd to me that some D-1 private school supporters seem to discount all the public schools reasons for thinking the current system is unfair and wanting a split. Yet when these schools might be moved to a division with all privates, they can come up with reasons why that system is unfair to them. It seems like if the D-1 privates can argue that the public's reasons for wanting a split don't give them an advantage, that an argument could also be made that aid schools don't have an advantage over non-aid schools. (i.e. St. Andrews-Sewanee is in D2, DCA is in D1, I would just about bet that DCA would win 90% of the time in most sports if the two schools were in the same division. Does St. Andrews have an advantage because they give aid?) Anyway, I haven't made up my mind if the split is a good idea or not, but I just thought I throw this observation out there.
  7. Doesn't Cumberland Univ. in Lebanon have a wrestling team? Are there any others around in Mid-Tn?
  8. swamp, This is an interesting the way its set up but the 3 team districts bothers me too. BUT. Next year Eagleville gets a team that, going by this plan, would probably end up in district 10. Also, there has been talk for a long time about Community H.S. in Unionville getting a team which would probably be put in district 9 with county rival Cascade. That gets rid of two 3-team districts and makes them four teamers. After all this though, that still leaves four 3-team districts. What do you think about just combining this 16 district plan into an eight region setup like we have know, and take 4 teams per region to the playoffs? A few teams here or there might need to be adjusted from this plan, like Mt. Pleasant going back to the Moore Co.-Forrest region, but it might work.
  9. Fernando Bryant - Riverdale, Alabama - Jacksonville Jaguars
  10. Didn't she coach high school basketball for a while?
  11. Dewone Brazelton, P - Tullahoma?, MTSU - T. Bay Devil Rays Kelly Holcomb, QB - Lincoln Co., MTSU- Cleveland Browns Vincent Yarbrough, SF - Cleveland, UT - NBA? Penny Hardaway, G - Memphis ?, Memphis - Phoenix Suns Tony Delk, G - Haywood Co., Kentucky - Sacramento Kings?
  12. thelma, I think we probably agree more on this subject than disagree. But I have never listened to a sports event on the radio where the announcers only reported the facts. They always put in their opinions and sometimes they put their foot in their mouths when they say something without thinking. Like I said earlier if one of our announcers really did say something that was way out of line, he should apologize but I don't know what was said. If vic really upset, I think he should make a few calls and get in touch with the announcer directly. I think any of the three announcers that cover Chapel Hill games would be willing to talk to him. And by the way, I could be wrong, but I think all three announcers volunteer their time and were not "HIRED" as you put it. And I agree with you that there is a difference between parents in the stands and announcers on the radio. Parents yelling negative things at the games can be heard directly by the players (especially basketball, baseball, etc.). If an announcer says something stupid on the radio, the player hears about it second hand. Both are probably not the brightest things in the world to do. And I also agree with you that if this didn't involve my hometown team I probably wouldn't have posted either. It just seems that people get more offended when someone says something derogatory about their team and don't care as much when its their own fans yelling stupid things at the other team.
  13. First off, and I don't know why it matters, but Chapel Hill games are broadcast over a FM station. Lewisburg has a station that broadcasts in AM and FM. Since the AM signal doesn't reach Chapel Hill as well, the station splits the signal on game nights. Chapel Hill over FM and Marshall County High School over AM. Second, I listened to some of the game (missed the postgame show) and the only thing "negative" I heard said about Victory, from any of the 3 announcers, was that he was holding some of our receivers on defense, which, if true, is really a knock on the refs for not calling a penalty, not the player. I not saying that anybody's wrong about what they heard I just saying if someone did say something in poor taste I missed it. Third, let's put things in perspective. If something out of line was said do we really need to do something as dramatic as call in the FCC, as one post said. If a listener had a problem with something said over the radio broadcast, wouldn't it be smart to pick up the phone and call either the radio station or the school as apposed to the federal govt. Comparing a small town radio announcer to Howard Stern is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on this message board. If one of the announcers did say something way out of line he should at the very least apologize. But I think a lot of the parents need to look at themselves too. As a former high school athlete, I was able to hear a lot of what the "adults" in the stands had to say about me. And being called "classless", as is evidently the case here, would been a step up from some of the things I was called. I won't make an excuse for the announcer if something bad was said. I just hope everybody keeps this in mind the next time a fan or announcer or coach from whatever team (not directing this at Collinwood) you support says or yells out something like this. Are you going to say something to that person too, or do these rules only apply when someone is talking about you team?
  14. Read somewhere that Buckingham has played some pro hoops overseas.
  15. The only thing I can tell you is they lost either 14-0 or 14-6 to Cornersville in the Chapel Hill jamboree. Also, they are not a new school, they are just in their 1st year for football. Their erollment a couple years ago would have made them one of the larger schools in A football (top 15 maybe, bigger than Moore Co. or Collinwood) but since Blackman in Murfreesboro was built I think they dropped a little.
  16. Anybody know what the scores were?
  17. For the record, NBF was born in Chapel Hill. Also, a long time ago I think the mascot was originally the Rebels (at least the junior high was called that)but for whatever reason it was changed. I also doubt very seriously that the name of the school would be changed based on the opinion of a group of people in "Saturn Springs". This would probably stir up a hornet's nest which nobody (including the school board etc.) would want to touch. I'll also admit that I can't figure out the connection between Rockets and Chapel Hill, but I've also never seen a Tiger in Lewisburg, a Viking in Unionville, or a Lion in Columbia to name a few. And besides the only people who call Forrest School Forrest, are the ones who don't know who we are. Everybody in our region calls us Chapel Hill. And until not too long ago most of the school's team uniforms said Chapel Hill. Sort of like MCHS uniforms say Lewisburg. Can't we all just be Cornersville Bulldogs and get along???
  18. I heard a couple times last week on the radio (99.7) that he is working at a restaurant in M'boro and may be going to play at Tusculum next season.
  19. Riverdale, Alabama, Tennessee... where is he know? Didn't he play at Cumberland for a week or two?
  20. I put in my earlier post that she played at Auburn. Any idea where she is now? Also, I think Woodard played a year or two at Shoals C.C. in Alabama, but that was a few years ago. [Edited by rocketman on 2/7/02 12:04 PM]
