  1. In another thread, you wrote that this won't be a game. You could be exactly right. Oliver Springs might win by 15. To say that Livingston Academy can't win at Oliver Springs is a STRONG statement to say the least. If Oliver Springs wins by 15, it will still have been a hard fought win, which would have been a 'game'. I saw both teams play last year. Don't both teams return most of the same players? LA returns four starters. There will be some good matchups. I'm guessing that some will predict an LA win, by 15 or so.
  2. There seems to be mixed results. Did LA win by 20 or did RBS win by 20. This shouldn't be such a difficult question.
  3. Which ever side anyone wants to argue, the LA/OS match up is a great season opener. Hats off to both coaches for taking the risk. Playing tougher schedules makes better post-season teams, right? Does OS still play in the gym that has that half wall around the floor, and is the floor still covered in some funky surface? If so, this will be a difficult place for LA to win. Someone wrote about LA remembering East Tennessee's Seymour. This goes both ways. McMinn Central probably wasn't the easiest place to visit and win a substate!
  4. I think Livingston Academy scrimmaged someone on Tuesday the 4th. How did that go?
  5. Butthead, I think this thread is talking about Celina and Pickett County High Schools.
  6. I also heard this story, but NOT the way it's being told here. The story that I heard was that there was an exchange of words - no hitting. I also heard that security was there and was in control of the situation. I know this story has less glitter and excitement, but it sounds more believable.
  7. Livingston Academy has the talent to surprise some people. They should have a pretty balanced attack. This could be a break-through season for them.
  8. I heard that Livingston Academy's freshman team handled Shelbyville's pretty well this summer. Is this true?
  9. Anything is possible. York really came on in post season play last year. It will be hard for anyone to beat York at York. I'm going out on a limb and picking York second behind Livingston, with Jackson County in third. However, if any of these top three gets too comfortable, this could be a regular season district three-way tie for first place.
  10. I know it's early, but I'd like to know how you all think 7AA will turn out this year.
  11. Beechboard from Livingston Academy should be much higher!
  12. I just wanted to congratulate Jackson County on another great season. Coach Jim Brown and his teams have proven what dedication and hard work can accomplish. I'm not from Jackson Co., but I will commend greatness when I see it.
  13. Thanks for agreeing. Why do people get personal? There's a way to go about things. Just brag on the one you want recognized. Don't put others down to make someone else look better. TWHoops probably doesn't mean to be degrading toward Beechboard, but that's the way it seems. Just being nominated is a HUGE accomplishment.
  14. Really classy post. Why don't you send Katrina a letter to let her know how she stacks up against the best, in case she doesn't see it here. After a dissapointing loss yesterday, I'm sure you'll make Katrina, a 16 yr. old, feel better about herself. Is that your intent, to make her feel worse? Good thing she's mature enough to pay you NO attention. I was looking forward to seeing Beechboard and Cavin match up today. Now that Beech is finished, for this year, who will you find to bring down? How can we expect our youth to do good things when this is the example adults set? All three candidates for Miss B-Ball should be commended - Hall Beechboard, and Cavin. Best of luck to Cavin the rest of the way.
  15. Hey 3 pointer, I'm sure you think, or hope, that your team is the best. They may be. However, the champion will have to outplay everyone else. I think this is as good of a AA tournament as there's been in several years. It's okay that you already counted Livingston Academy out. People really get irritated when LA wins. By the way, wouldn't it be something if LA, a team with one senior, were to prove you wrong and win. I hope your team is as good as you think they are or want them to be. After all your talk, how let down would you feel if your team, is it Westview or Gibson, doesn't fare so well. No matter who wins, ALL of these young ladies and coaches should be commended for their hard work and success this season. I saw LA play early, and I've seen them play as of late - DOESN'T EVEN RESEMBLE THE SAME TEAM. Four of their starters were new, but they've done a lot of growing up. I noticed that LA plays the strongest AA schedule. Maybe that has something to do with that maturity. Good luck to your team. Whether you want to admit it or not, they'll need some. 16. This is just to let you know how nice I think it is that you all are back where you belong, Murphy Center. That place just hasn't seemed the same the last three years without HOG-EYE. Your team has become so fun to watch. Hey Megan Thompson, it's great to see you having fun again! On Thursday morning, we're going to fill the place with blue and white. So, good luck to all of you Lady Wildcats and to Coaches Smith and Woodard. We're proud to follow a class act like you. [Edited by ShutupandPlay on 3-11-03 9:32P]
  17. If you've not heard of LA, then I take it you've not been following AA basketball very long. Can you say TRADITION? Even the Tennessean called them "...AA's team of the '90's.." Here's a little history for you: 1990 State Champs, 1991 State semis, 1993 state runner up, 1994 State Champs, 1995 state semis, 1996 state runner up, 1997 state semis, 1998 state runner-up, 1999 State Champs. In 2000 they lost in the regional semis to McMinn Central & Miss Basketball Julie Aderhold. In 2001 they lost in OT in the regional semis to Upperman, who was state runner up to Jackson County. In 2002 they lost in the regional semis to eventual champion Jackson County. They've been around. They've been on a three year slump as far as State Tourney goes. This year, LA split with 3 time defending champ & district foe Jackson Co., lost to JC in the district finals by ten & lost a heartbreaker to JC in regional finals by one. They beat a highly-touted McMinn Central at McMinn in the sub-state. Now, they're back in the big dance where they belong. I thought this might help you. 18. Even in their losing cause, it must have been amazing to see players execute the game plan that well. Cudos to the McNairy coach for having the nerve to try something this bizarre. Congrats to Chester Co. as well for having the composure to pull out the win when everything seems to have played out for the other team.
  19. This is really hard to believe. I wonder, is this the lowest scoring game in TSSAA tournament history?
  20. Smokeyvol1, I agree. He really couldn't help that his peers voted for him. Agree or disagree, how can adults who would boo in this situation, a really childish and classless act, expect anything good from young people who look up to them. Teach by example. If this is how we're taught, then someone should break the mold and show some respect.
  21. You posted earlier that a 'true American", bla bla bla, and something about 'sheep fed by the media'. Then you post that the war is only about 'oil', then more crap, and then hypocritically told us to watch CNN and all the other junk agencies to prove it. Not that it matters, but do you have more of a problem with "W" or U.S. policies overseas? Your defense of this obviously troubled and unappreciative female who lives in this great country, takes from it what she likes, and shames herself and everyone else makes you no better than she is. I'm wondering now...Which is worse...Madmen like Iraq's leader, dictator, killer... or someone who has been so priviledged to have been able to be a part of America, like you and I, and not appreciate it and defend IT. There is no fence-strattling. People in our position..the ones who don't make decisions concerning national defense..are unlearned of what it takes to make those decisions.. and either support our country or support another. You and I and every other American either support America or its enemies. We can't do both. I'm so tired of hearing, "I support those who died for this country, but I don't support this country." Such BULL. This IDIOT is turning her back on not just the flag. She's turning her back on everything that she ever had and ever will have. This country is it's people, and it's people are this country. She isn't as important as she wants to be. She's nothing but conversation, a movie of the week at best. Hey ITSALLABOUTBALL, I think she needs to do something to make her appreciate what she has a little more. Maybe she could land a job, say, shoveling crap out of a dairy barn, or maybe.. work some long, hot sweaty days in a tobacco field! She'd never spend another minute on my team. Then Eagleville could find some other scum to admire. [Edited by richcoach3 on 3-1-03 4:59P]
  22. I've never seen anyone as able to score against double teams as Katrina Beechboard is able to do. She even draws triple teams, splits them, and scores on them. She will be a finalist in AA - count on it.
  23. Substate action: Jackson County at McMinn Central and Walker Valley at Livingston Academy
