touchy, are we?!? Maybe you didn't realize that it would be impossible for me to respond while you were typing? So before assuming I would have nothing to say, here's a thought. Oklahoma has a great football tradition, which is nice and something to be proud of, but it means nothing in the current season. NOTHING! FYI - St. Agnes is my team this year, though a Hutchison win wouldn't make me cry.
  4. In Quarterfinal action yesterday in the West Regional: ECS 4 - Lausanne 0 St. Benedict 6 - St. George 1 Hutchison 4 - St. Mary's 0 St. Agnes 7 - Briarcrest 0 Semifinals today at Mike Rose Soccer Complex ECS v. St. Benedict St. Agnes v. Hutchison

    From this week's Memphis Commercial Appeal rankings of local teams GIRLS SOCCER TOP FIVE Team / Record / Last week 1. Hutchison / 13-2-2 / 1 2. Houston / 11-3-2 / 2 3. St. Agnes / 12-2-3 / 3 4. Collierville / 14-3-1 / 4 5. ECS / 13-2-1 / 5
  6. I don't "wannabe" anything nor do I want a vote. You don't know me and have no idea how smart I am, nor do I know Coach McClosky or the creator of the poll here on the CoachT soccer board to know how smart they might be. It doesn't matter! What matters as far as the polls go are results that make sense. I've asked someone to give possible expalnations as to why the EuroPoll has rankings as it does. "Coach McClosky does an excellent job" or "he's smart" aren't answers to the questions. I'm sure he's a good guy and tries hard, but the mechanics of the poll simply make no sense to me, so it is easy to dismiss as poorly done. It's not personal.
  7. What is the Redmond Tennessee 11 on the Eurosport site? It seems poorly done also. JP2 goes from NR to #1 in a week. I'm not implying that they aren't #1, it's just insane that they were unranked previously. In the same poll, Houston drops from 6 to 10 after two convincing wins? C'mon. FRA #4 with no wins aganist strong teams. Hutchison unranked after DESTROYING #5 Collierville 4-0 and convincingly beating #10 Houston two weeks ago 2-0, and tying #1 JP2? Can someone please make a case why they aren't there except that the poll stinks?
  8. I must also state that the poll done here seems much more thoughtful and done with more care than the Eurosport poll. Eurosport seems to disregard head to head match-ups, common opponents, or how an team has played recently against what level of opponent. The argument that the Eurosport poll is better because the creator is smart and knows soccer would cause the person arguing to recieve an F in any beginners debate class. Appeals to authority are only good when they are followed with facts and logic.
  9. It's a draw. With three #1 seeds from the West/Middle/East Regions, two will have to be placed on the same side of the bracket. As for JP2 blowing through their side, ECS, St. Agnes, or Hutchison (whoever wins the West) will not allow any team to blow through them - - JP2 tied Hutchison 1-1 last month and beat St. Agnes 2-1, not blow outs by any standard. Of course, this whole argument is premature at this point because JP2 could win the Middle Region and be in the bottom half.
  10. D2 1 west vs 3 middle 2 east vs 2 middle 1 east vs 3 west 1 middle vs 2 west Right now, if the seeds were determined based on region standings instead of the regional tournament, the pairings would be ECS v BGA GPS v JP2 Baylor v Hutchison Father Ryan v St. Agnes Dang!! I would Hate to be in the lower half if this is how it works out in the region tournaments.

My argument for including St. Agnes in your top 25, probably top 15 at least Defeated #20 Shelbyville 5-0 Lost to #9 Franklin 2-1 Tied #14 FRA 1-1 Lost to #2 PJPII 2-1 Tied #7 ECS 1-1 no other losses, winning handily games they should win
  13. Two ACL tears for one team in late August http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/prep_s...4094058,00.html I think one was a tackle from behind, not sure about the other
  14. For curiosity's sake, here are the results between these teams: St. Agnes 2 - GPS 0 Father Ryan 4 - Baylor 3 Baylor 2 - ECS 1 Hutchison 1 - PJP2 1 Baylor 2 - Hutchison 1 ECS 2 - Hutchison 1 Hutchison 3 - GPS 1 PJP2 2 - GPS 1 PJP2 2 - St. Agnes 1 St. Agnes 2 - ECS 2 Father Ryan 4 - GPS 1 Father Ryan 4 - BGA 2 Common Opponents HARPETH HALL T - BGA 1-1 L - PJP2 0-2 L - ECS 0-3 L - St. Agnes 1-3 CENTENNIAL L - Baylor 1-2 W - GPS 3-0 L - ECS 2-4 FRANKLIN L - BGA 0-1 W - St. Agnes 2-1 L - Father Ryan 0-2 HENDERSONVILLE L - Father Ryan 1-6 W - GPS 1-0 L- Hutchison 0-4 NOTRE DAME L - PJP2 2-6 L - Father Ryan 0-3 L - Hutchison 1-2 L- Baylor 0-2 T - GPS 1-1 FARRAGUT T - Baylor 2-2 W - Notre Dame 2-0 L - Father Ryan 1-4 COLLIERVILLE L - Father Ryan 1-3 W - Baylor 2-1 W - BGA 2-0 SMYRNA L - Father Ryan 1-2 L - St. Agnes 0-6 IMHO - Father Ryan does seem to have the edge so far, but picking 2-6 seems like a complete toss-up! Who will be playing well at the end of the season? Baylor has a history of putting their foot on the gas at the end. HOme field advantage?
  15. If anyone goes to the Houston v. Hutchison game on Tuesday and can relay how it goes, please post it here! I'm overseas and rely on the message board for news. From the results on http://eurosportscoreboard.com/ it seems that these two teams are evenly matched and should be a classic Offense v. Defense battle.

  17. I thought it was a good article. Deserved or not, Briarcrest has been accused in the past of avoiding the powerful city school teams. Now that the games are being played, I'm glad the Commercial Appeal is promoting them. It's natural and healthy to foment a rivalry to peak interest. I re-read it after your post and could find nothing about "bullet proof vests" or "armored vehicles." After living in Memphis for 10 years, I was unable to identify the area of Memphis where the picture was taken, but regardless, I'm not sure how taking the picture in a poorer area of town makes a difference. I similarly don't see how the picture is "Gangsta." Hmmm.
  18. jpII over St. Agnes 2-0
  19. Hutchison wins on penalty kicks.
  20. Hutchison over Notre Dame. After drawing 2-2 at the end of regulation and all the overtimes, Hutchison wins on the last penalty kick.
  21. Hutchison beat Briarcrest 6-1 to set up a D2W region championship game with St. Agnes who took out St. Mary's 2-1. St. Mary's will play Briarcrest Thursday at 5:30 pm, the winner advancing to the State tournament as the region's third place team. Hutchison and St. Agnes will play for the region championship Thursday at 7:30. Three weeks ago the teams played to a 1-1 draw. All matches played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
  22. Quarterfinal Results St. Agnes 10 - Harding 0 St. Mary's 2 - Lausanne 0 Briarcrest 1 - ECS 0 Hutchison 6 - St. Benedict 0 Semifinals St. Agnes v. St. Mary's Hutchison v. Briarcrest
