  1. Pretty sad for a person of your apparent age to talk about a 17 year old kid . . . Perhaps a few more years of experience will do you good. Not 6"- who cares, she dominates. And to say she doesn't have heart. She is just not an "in your face" player.
  2. Nicole is a good kid who works hard at improving her game. She doesn't hoot, holler or show-boat like so many other players. She averaged 18 points a game this year whilst routinely being double and triple teamed. The poster who compared Nicole to Candace Parker was not comparing their respective 'games' - the poster was merely comparing how they are used.
  3. TN High fans are truly amazing. I remember when Cody Baugh and the boys were seniors headed to the Stone Castle. Result - 41-0 Greeneville. I remember when TN High played Maryville a few years ago. The talk was that TN High was the best team its school had fielded since some team from the late 60s or early 70s. Result - I'm not sure of the exact score but I think Maryville just scored again. TN High has some mighty big wounds to lick. In fact, it may take all of Bristol to get the job done. Heck, they might even need some help from the Virginia side. And to TNtnntn or whatever his monicker is - are you okay? You were posting like a madman about how G'ville's season would be over when it played TN High. I can tell you never played sports on a competitive basis b/c of the fact that you refused to acknowledge Volunteer. And if you did play sports, you were obviously not successful. In the end, I wish I could have seen the faces on TN High's players, coaches, parents . . . and heck, even their concession stand workers after Volunteer took them down.
  4. Congrats to Bearden from a Greeneville fan. We have enjoyed playing you the last 2 years in substate even though things didn't go our way. You have a good group of kids who play lights out for their coach. There are several teams (and coaches) out there who should take note of your physical yet fair play. Bearden has proven that you don't have to act like a bunch of goons on the pitch to have a winning program.
  5. Patience Leonard (No. 23), Devan McIntyre (No. 24), Claire Duncan (No. 1), Michelle Meade (No. 6) and Mackenzie Payne (No. 32).
  6. Just wait until Oak Ridge travels to Science Hill. OR better hope it doesn't have that group of bozos that officiated the Greeneville - Science Hill match last night. The little dark haired guy (looks like a younger version of Mr. Bean) is particularly dangerous.
  7. It certainly says something that a small school like Alcoa has students willing to build a program. We have a couple of 1,000 student plus schools in NE Tenn that can't come close to fielding teams.
  8. To anyone who watched tonight's match: How many yellow cards were "earned" by DB? Does anyone have a foul count from the match ? What about shot count ? Finally, did it appear that DB's players were intentionally "going after" No. 23 for Greeneville ?
  9. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Slide tackling is simply part of soccer. I believe good refs can keep "bad" slide tackling in check with pre-match "warnings" concerning bad technique and by flipping those little colored cards from their pockets. We assume only "good" refs call matches, however. Near the end of the season, I can honestly say that I have been impressed with the level of officiating - for the most part. For illustration purposes only, the Greeneville - Elizabethton match last night featured a sorry excuse for an official in the middle. One team was up by several goals near the end of the match and he (the sorry excuse) consistently allowed dangerous slide tackling from behind even after a player went out with an injury. This official in particular has consistently lost control of each match I have seen him call to the detriment of several players. Again, I have been impressed with the level of officiating this year (win.lose or tie)but what do you do about the occasional rogue official who is ignorant of proper slide tackling techniques (in my opinion) and fails to protect players?
  10. What is any poll without some controversy. Ooltewah loses to Farragut 4-0 and moves up 3 spots while G'ville beats M'town West 3-0 and M-town East 9-0 and drops several spots. In any event, keep it up MJUHB.
  11. I didn't mean to offend your sense of decency.
  12. I don't recall saying it wasn't about "them" - the players. If beating up on a weak opponent is what gets you fired up as a parent, then more power to you. We'll see how much the 10-0 score prepares Powell for districts soon enough.
  13. I certainly wasn't trying to be critical. I just found it sort of strange that your coach said, "hey let's lay off" by stringing together 4 passes and shooting from the 18. Who cares if the score is 1-0 or 15-0 except maybe the parents and the player who scores 5 goals a match against weak opponents? I assure you that soccer skills can be developed without having to take a shot on goal. For example, is it more impressive for a player to beat a weak defense and weak keeper 1 on 1 or is it more impressive for a young player to show her coach that she can receive a pass with control, dribble through a defender or two with alternating touches, and then change fields? Maybe the first scenario is what impresses you.
