As anyone can tell by my number of posts, I usually just read all the comments and opinions that everyone has. For the most part, I believe that the majority of the posts are not intended to harm anyones reputation, and are mostly just good natured ribbing between rival schools and players. Sometimes though, enough is enough, and I believe that some people have said enough.
I know all of the young ladies in the previous post, and they are all fine young women, and ballplayers as well. I watched most of them play for many years, through Junior Pro and junior high. They all most definitely would be an asset to any high school team that they choose to play for. The ones that opted to transfer to programs other than OC's have contributed greatly to each of their teams successes, as I am sure anyone that has kept up with them can attest.
The problem that I have with the comments made is that I feel everyone should support the fine young ladies that have chosen to remain with the Lady Rebel program through all the adversity that has followed them the past few years. These girls have chosen to follow the dream to possibly make it to the state tournament this year, and believe me, unless you are close to the program, you have no idea what it has taken to keep them together and motivated to succeed when morale gets as low as it has been over the past three years. When comments are made about Spencer Hoffman, it just causes more hurt, and these ladies deserve better. What they need is for everyone to get behind them and give them all the support and accolades they deserve because they have more than earned it. As far as all the " what if's" that get batted around as to players that could have contributed if they had chosen to play, that is something that we will never know. I'm sure they each would have been an asset to the team. I personally am just grateful to have the fine players that we do have that represent our community on and off the court in the remarkable manner that they do.
Eddie Suiter is now the coach, and they have all had an outstanding year regardless of the outcome this weekend in sub-state. He has been able to come in and do a remarkable job in a position that is often thankless. Spencer Hoffman is now coaching a team that I am sure he will bring to prominence all in good time. Please everyone, quit bashing him unless you know all the facts. Sometimes everyone thinks they know everything, but they really don't. It is time to let that issue rest, please. The girls have moved past it, so should everyone else.
Again, thanks to everyone in the community that does support The Obion Central Lady Rebels. Hope to see a great turnout as they battle for the 7AA title tomorrow night, at substate Saturday, and maybe, just maybe, in Murfreesboro as well.
