  1. wescharge.....you do not have to call her by name for people to know who you are referring to. Yes, she has a one handed shot; believe me, she has heard it for years now. It may not be the typical textbook shot that most players have, but it works for her. Yes, she will know when she reads this that you're talking about her. I agree with VOREBS. There is nothing wrong with the typical we're better, you're better banter that goes on on this board. It's all in fun, and everyone can have a good time with it. Just please think about what you're saying in these posts that can hurt an individual. These kids all play hard, and don't need to read negative comments that they know are directed towards them.
  2. "Last Call at the Pit" will be held on Thursday night, December 22, at Obion County Central in Troy. There will be 3 games beginning at 6 p.m. featuring some of the great players from the past 45 years. Coaches from past years will also be present and be recognized at this event. Matt Harris, former standout at OC, will be emcee. This promises to be a fun filled night, as the rich tradition of OCCHS basketball in the "Pit" is celebrated one more time before the wrecking ball hits!

  4. redbirdfan and rebel d, let's be real here. WesCharge has probably got us rated just right, maybe even higher than we should be. Reedy and Davis are our seniors this year, and we know that neither of them even rates any respect, right? Not to mention our sophomore class, gosh, I can't even remember any of their names, can you? Oh well, we'll just go in and play each game as it comes; hopefully we will at least look somewhat respectable. Oh yeah, the sky is falling too........
  5. I don't see any listings about any 17 and under teams in northwest tennessee. My daughter would like to play, but we don't know of any teams that have been organized. We just finished our state tourney trip, , now it's time to move on. If there are any teams out there, please let us know.
  6. As anyone can tell by my number of posts, I usually just read all the comments and opinions that everyone has. For the most part, I believe that the majority of the posts are not intended to harm anyones reputation, and are mostly just good natured ribbing between rival schools and players. Sometimes though, enough is enough, and I believe that some people have said enough. I know all of the young ladies in the previous post, and they are all fine young women, and ballplayers as well. I watched most of them play for many years, through Junior Pro and junior high. They all most definitely would be an asset to any high school team that they choose to play for. The ones that opted to transfer to programs other than OC's have contributed greatly to each of their teams successes, as I am sure anyone that has kept up with them can attest. The problem that I have with the comments made is that I feel everyone should support the fine young ladies that have chosen to remain with the Lady Rebel program through all the adversity that has followed them the past few years. These girls have chosen to follow the dream to possibly make it to the state tournament this year, and believe me, unless you are close to the program, you have no idea what it has taken to keep them together and motivated to succeed when morale gets as low as it has been over the past three years. When comments are made about Spencer Hoffman, it just causes more hurt, and these ladies deserve better. What they need is for everyone to get behind them and give them all the support and accolades they deserve because they have more than earned it. As far as all the " what if's" that get batted around as to players that could have contributed if they had chosen to play, that is something that we will never know. I'm sure they each would have been an asset to the team. I personally am just grateful to have the fine players that we do have that represent our community on and off the court in the remarkable manner that they do. Eddie Suiter is now the coach, and they have all had an outstanding year regardless of the outcome this weekend in sub-state. He has been able to come in and do a remarkable job in a position that is often thankless. Spencer Hoffman is now coaching a team that I am sure he will bring to prominence all in good time. Please everyone, quit bashing him unless you know all the facts. Sometimes everyone thinks they know everything, but they really don't. It is time to let that issue rest, please. The girls have moved past it, so should everyone else. Again, thanks to everyone in the community that does support The Obion Central Lady Rebels. Hope to see a great turnout as they battle for the 7AA title tomorrow night, at substate Saturday, and maybe, just maybe, in Murfreesboro as well.
  7. Eddie Suiter from Spring Hill was named the new head coach on Saturday. His contract starts July 1.
  8. Obion County Central High School Jill Konkol- Cross Country @ Union University Kyle Ross- Baseball @ Dyersburg State Laura Beth Griffin- Softball @ Dyersburg State
  9. Yes, the OC team has lost 2 players. One was due to injuries, and the other was personal reasons. The team has been doing well, and they are starting to get into a flow.
  10. We here in Obion County just want to congratulate the Westview Lady Chargers for their outstanding play in the state tournament. You represented District 13AA with class. Can't wait until next year to see how we all stack up. How many days WesCharge? hahaha
  11. OCRebel, I am an alumni of OC, but now my daughter plays on the Lady Rebel team, so needless to say I don't miss a game. Hopefully you can come take in a few games this year.
  12. We appreciate the support, OCRebel! Our girls are working hard, and we should have a pretty good season.
