  1. Cap, I'd say, as maroonandgrey did, it is a combination...D-B has a very solid, deep team...still some questions, but what they have seen thusfar locally has not been very good...could have been a bad game by the other schools?...the Indians are playing very well together on both ends of the floor...could be a very good year for the Indians, but there are some really special teams in the Knoxville area...but that worry comes later in the year hopefully... And you've got a poster trying to pick your favorite Viking, huh?...that's pretty funny...but, I see and appreciate your point that a zone based team will have to adjust to stop a shooter like Snapp...makes sense to me...even the best zones - as Coach Van Huss was a huge advocate of the match-up zone - may have to do special things for "shooters" to make their shot more difficult to get off...especially shooters who are makers (another Van Huss-ism). Good luck to your Vikings...and Merry Christmas. Roll Tribe Roll
  2. He is the Co-Athletic Director and Cross Country Coach @ Centennial High School. Roll Tribe Roll
  3. Gosh, thanks for saying so...but once again you are wrong... Roll Tribe Roll
  4. Watchdog, Riggs didn't beat D-B the rain did...B. J. Clendenin and certainly Chase Flanary had plenty of punch since Faulkerson was playing...and Adonis Johnson could and did do it all...and just being curious, who were the "strong" players Coach Clark talked about before the field house?...and out of respect for the young man, his name is spelled Hogg, Robert Hogg... 5. Dobyns-Bennett FS Robert Hogg has been invited. Roll Tribe Roll
  6. One of the announcers for CMS is the voice of the ETSU Bucs (radio) and the other was a longtime sportscaster on WKPT-TV...they do have credentials and they show excitment and enthusiasm...they are both very nice guys...whether you like them or not, they are showcasing local high school kids and that is what is important. 7. FYI - the D-B Spirit Shakers (the dance team) are sponsoring a tailgate dinner Friday night in the lobby of the Buck Van Huss Dome...they are serving chili and all the fixun's from The Happy Hostess (a Downtown Kingsport restaurant)...they are serving from 5:00pm until almost kickoff (7:00pm)...drink included for only $6.00...it is a fundraiser for the Spirit Shakers...everyone is welcome and invited. 8. Cletus, I have the overall playoff records as 4-4...Coach Clark coached D-B is 4-3... I have a game played November 11, 1960 in Kingsport as a 14-6 D-B win...? Thank you for your information. Roll Tribe Roll

  10. bounder, I was very young, but I remember Ron and Don Wright, they were the KINGS of the local Wrestlin' scene...okay, I was young (drop the very)... Roll Tribe Roll
  11. Certainly used a good source... Roll Tribe Roll
  12. Coach Clark said in two post game radio interviews that if needed he could have returned...but I am even older now and have slept since Friday, as well...so someone may want to drive by practice and see if he is out there... Roll Tribe Roll
  13. maroonandgrey, Thank you and God bless you...I am old and have slept since then... Roll Tribe Roll
  14. bounder, That was very funny, both in the movie and from you...thanks... Last time D-B and Oak Ridge met the Wildcats were without the right side of the offensive line, had to move the FB (and amazing MLB) to OG (changed number from 44 to 51 for the game), missing their top DB/WR (who scored Friday night), and gave #7 his first start...do I understand there is a rotating QB situation?...is that working?...how long has it been in place?...other positions more settled?...what do we look for from the Wildcats this time? I hope the all the Wildcats fans have a safe trip to and from Kingsport...It will be great to have fans from the Atomic City visiting the Model City, again...great traditions, great programs, great fans, great games; it's playoff time, it's Dobyns-Bennett vs. Oak Ridge: again... Roll Tribe Roll
  15. Thank you Watchdog...yes, they do know Jonathan...and prayers are being said and will continue to be... Roll Tribe Roll
  16. D-B has actually won 14 straight but over a 13 year period of time...for those a little numerically challenged (like myself) they played twice in one year (playoffs). Roll Tribe Roll
  17. D-B fans realize this is the D-B vs. Science Hill game...many of us older folks understand the meaning of the game...remember some of the players for both teams have never attended a game that the Hill won (13 straight for Dobyns-Bennett)...it has been 27 years since the Hill won in Kingsport...thus the coaches are making sure that the players remember and understand the level of talent and potential coming to call on Friday...D-B has never lost to Campbell County and only lost to Karns one time (when much of that team phoned it in), but this team showed up and respected their opponents and played well the last two weeks...they will not take the Hill for granted...it will be a good one... Roll Tribe Roll
  18. Throwing the ball, or better said catching the ball has made the offense effective (dropped some passes in early games that might have made for different outcomes, but passing game is good right now)...very efficient passing game...offensive line has done a very good job in pass protection and run blocking...able to rotate 7 or 8 players on the offensive line without a dropoff...Dukart the leading receiver yards wise, Crawford the leader receptions wise...defense will run the 3-3-5 D-B has for a few years, and blitz out of it as D-B has for years...will also deploy a 4 man front in certain situations and blitz from that...defense covers the field pretty well... Why hasn't the FG kicker been used more as of late?...I understand the Hill has gone for it a couple of times when in FG range?(yes, somehow that is a question)...what was or is Mancuso's injury?...what about Larry is he still contributing?...whom is handling punt and kickoff returns?...(sorry, I messed up on spelling of Kinley) Thanks Roll Tribe Roll
  19. Last year's D-B vs. Science Hill game was an outstanding game, where the elements had an impact...weather shouldn't be a factor this year...But it is D-B vs Science Hill... Duanah is still a scary RB and he will easily be the best back D-B has seen since the Oak Ridge game, Tomas is a fine athlete and not going to be a stationary target, is the Hill defense still playing the 3-5-3?...what is the status of Mancuso?...how many are going both ways and who are they?...where is Ash playing - FB or receiver?...how about Larry Smith?...Joslin?...who has taken the spot T.Hill had at receiver?...who is returning kicks?...punts?...Kinsley getting the touches he should?...what about the FG kicker - can he?... Roll Tribe Roll
  20. FIRST HALF plowboy...he was 5-5 in the first half...that stat was included in a sentence that also had Sensabaugh with 10 carries for 72 yards and Taylor with 34 yards on 5 carries...read before you complain....he was 6-8 for the game...Roop 0-1...that is why the team had 6-9...read and quit looking to hang the kid...unbelievable! Roll Tribe Roll
  21. Chris Sensabaugh had 14 carries 132 yards and 2 TDS Roll Tribe Roll
  22. I will add, for what it is worth, that it is my understanding that the South Coach wanted the series to continue, but the AD and principal did not... Roll Tribe Roll
  23. Cap if it helps to clarify, my one of my three sons have worn #20 for the Tribe for the past seven years of varsity football and six of varsity basketball...youngest one is a junior on the football team this year...middle son (college freshman) was starting at pg @ LMU until last Friday when he tore his ACL... civility, respect, and strategy is what used to be the norm on coachT...should still be...we can have our differences and preferences but we should never be attacking kids...and some of the digs are funny and intended as so, but too many times things are out of hand... Roll Tribe Roll
  24. Hammonds' injury is actually a torn ACL... Roll Tribe Roll
  25. maroonandgrey, King and LMU play @ Southern Illinois...LMU also plays at UT and MTSU...and yes Coach Pitts has a former Brentwood player in Joshua Bone @ SIU... topvol98, I have enjoyed your posts all season...your enthusiasm is contagious and your love and pride obvious, for both child and program...my post was merely a response to the comments made previously and again without all of the facts, I should have kept my mouth shut, too...there probably isn't an innocent party in the situation...the bad thing is there is a situation...high school sports ought to be fun...a lot of work and dedication and excitement and disappointment, but still yet fun...keep your support strong...good luck Cap, I think we have both seen many times that there are so many cameras in use that the picture is never really as clear as it needs to be...someone always has a different angle that changes the focus (can you tell I was raised in a Kodak family with all the picture references?...ha,ha)...it is just bad for everyone in J.C. and people like topvol98 who really care can and will make a difference...now you will have to get post 1012 ready for South...good luck in that one...
