    CPA-BOYD

Landerplayer, if I remember correctly, we had more rushing yards than cloudland at halftime. Even if we didn't, we can make the excuse that we didn't come into the game pumped up but did in the second half. But by the end of the game we had at least 50 more yards rushing then yall did and about 200 more yards passing. I think Cloudland was a decent team. I think the main problem was with what yall had been saying all week. Cloudland's starters only played 2 quarters for all but like one or two of their games this season. Because of that, they probly got worn out in the second half because they weren't used to playing that long. If they want to do better next year, they better play their starters at least 3 quarters. Anyway, this is the CPA-Boyd thread, not the Cloudland-Boyd so maybe I shouldn't have brought this up.
  2. I don't know how good Mitchell is, but I hope Lipscomb wins. Then if Boyd wins 1a, they'll be state champs in 1 and 2a!! HAHA. jk. But I still hope Lipscomb comes out of the boro with the win.

    CPA-BOYD

Hambone, if you remember, yall beat CPA earlier this year. Who's to say that we wouldn't later on in the year? I think beating Lipscomb showed a lot in how our team has gotten better since we played yall considering Lipscomb is going to state in 2a.
  4. I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I think the biggest reason Boyd won was because Cloudland got worn out. Yall were saying all week that the starters for Cloudland only have to play 2 quarters for most of the games. When they aren't used to playing all 4, they are gonna get worn out and get outplayed in the second half and that's one of the reasons I think they got whipped in the second half last night. Next year if they play all 4 in more games they might do better.
  5. I couldn't tell where the "dawg pound" was. I thought that they might have been a group that was standing up but I never heard them yellin. Probly would have at a smaller stadium, but they had no effect there tonight.
  6. Thank you very much krp. You are one of the first people from a public school to not accuse a private school of recruiting just because they're good. You accept loses unlike most and don't give excuses. If I can figure out how to give a good mark, I'm givin' you one.
  7. Hey dewswar, do you think will oughta be mr. football now? He was incredible tonight!!!
  8. I'm not saying Boyd fans haven't said anything, because I know they have. But yall haven't just said beat them bucs and stuff. I've several times where yall have accused us of recruiting. That's just as bad if not worse then the trash talk Boyd's fans have been putting on here. Never make accusations without proof and I don't believe yall have that.
  9. Sorry about that. I was replying to people on the page before who just know that Boyd recruits. I didn't want to bother going back and replying to them so I just pushed reply on yours. Sorry, should have changed the subject title.
  10. Just found this. Posted by Brandon100 Most private schools have waiting lists of prospective students that can be for several years. They have plenty of parents begging for the schools to take their children to get the kids out of public. If the public schools ran a better organization, maybe they wouldn't be so envyous of the private schools, and parents wouldn't feel the need to move their kids to the private schools! It's the same with Boyd. In the high school, we only had room for two or three new students I think. I'm almost positive that none of them play football. It's probably the same for the middle school. Enough said about recruiting.
  11. Boyd recruits just as much as Cloudland does. How in the world are yall so positive that we recruit when yall have never played us before and don't even live near Chattanooga? I'm sure Cloudland is a good public school. In Chattanooga though, people are either switching to private schools or homeschooling. Parents don't want their kids going to the school they're zoned for so they send them to a private school. Until yall come up with undeniable evidence that Boyd (or any other private school for that matter) recruits, then drop the subject. It's basically an excuse to use just in case your team loses.
  12. I think I've said this on another thread, but the reason it's at Finley is probably because of their kindness and the fact that our field is torn up. Sure it's exciting but it's mainly cuz our field's in terrible shape.
  13. Ok Pujo. You say the skill position players come later. Ok that would be people like Healy and Nelson right? I know for a fact that they've been there since middle school and am pretty certain they've been there since elementary. Jones has been going since like the 6th or 7th grade. Any other skill position player you name has been there since at least middle school if not elementary. In fact, we only have one player who came in the ninth grade and yall don't talk about him being recruited. The rest have been there since at least the eighth grade. All these skill position players have been at the school for years so I doubt anyone knew they'd be really good in high school when they first came. But anyway, there's nothing yall can do about it but whine because we have a good team and we happen to be a private school.
  14. HA HA HA Pujo........ right.. I'm not saying who has the best athletes. Haven't seen Cloudland play, but I think Boyd won't have too much of a problem keeping up and hopefully ahead.
  15. I still don't understand why you think Boyd is cheating getting these players. Most of the football players were going to Boyd long before anyone would have ever known that Boyd would ever have a good team. A lot of the football players have been there since elementary, and the football program didn't start getting winning seasons till they were in about the 6th or 7th grade. So unless they were looking for little 3-5th graders for talent for the football team, I really can't see how Boyd recruited them. And I've already said it once and I guess I'll have to say it again. The people who accept the students into the school have nothing to do with the football program. It might be a different matter if Coach Akins was in charge of who got into the school, but he doesn't.
  16. I've said this on a different thread before to some south pitt fans. Of course people go there that are not from hamilton county, but that is the choice of their parents not us bringing them in. The people who interview the kids and accept them have nothing to do with the football team. One of them probly doesn't even care about football. Anyway, back to cloudland vs. bbs.
  17. Actually I asked several people today (not Greenback fans) and they didn't know. So if yall don't mind, next person to see this please explain.
  18. Go to the Boyd-Cloudland game friday night at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. It will be an awesome game. Record croud for a football game is something like 16,000 so let's show UTC what a full stadium (approximately 20,000) looks like.
  19. I don't know if I missed this or not, but what exactly is the Dawgpound yall keep talking about? Looking forward to it. Maybe it'll be better then "the jungle".
  20. I don't think the football players are overlooking cloudland. In fact, the ones I've talked to respect your team. Sure they're talking about state, because this is the second time we've gotten this far. They know they have to get past yall before they go to state. I notice that some of the cloudland posters are also looking past Boyd and talking about state. [Edited by jsh969 on 11-26-02 9:18P]

    Captain Buc

Now since RED ZONE RON is making sure it is there, why don't we do a little more and maybe have it parachuted down to the 50 yard line right before the game? LOL.
  22. There comes the recruiting thing again. I know you've already heard us try to get it in your heads that we don't recruit, so I won't say anything more. I'd just appreciate it if people wouldn't come to the conclusion that we recruit just because we have a good team.

    Captain Buc

Ha ha. Does anyone know if Captain Buc will make an appearance at Finley or if he's just gonna stay home at David L Boyd Field?
  24. I wouldn't mind seeing stats either. The only stats I ever see are the regular season stats in the Chattanooga Times Free Press on Fridays, but that is just individual city leaders.
  25. I see what you're saying, but I'm just saying that I think if Boyd went to d-II they'd almost have to recruit to be able to keep up with some of the bigger ones. And by switching all privates to d-II the ones that don't recruit or don't have the money to are going to get blown out by the ones that do. I'd like Boyd to move to d-II if I knew that they'd be able to stay at the same level with the rest, but I don't know that they could. It seems like they could make a list of requirements for privates to enter d-II and the rest stay in regular divisions till they meet the requirements. JMO.
