  1. MARK BYRD::::ENOUGH SAID""""""""""
  2. cloudland lead jj kelly 44 - 0 at the half
  3. i agree onlinelc but cloudland is a small school and to be honest cant afford the expenses of traveling great distances...also most schools sched. 2 or 3 yrs. in advance...I would love it if cloudland had the chance to play db or science hill but lets face it. Yes cloudland could compete this yr. with a team like that but generally speaking not next yr. and probably not for a long time will they have this much talent to work with. And lets face it a 4 or 5a school doesnt like to get beat by a single a...I also agree knox cathlic or gattlinburg pitt. would have been a good game. But who knew....Also as far a playing cpa or any of the top three in division 5 usually cloudland would not have a prayer...I truely believe they had patched up their weeknesses and would be a ligitamate contender this yr...But not sitting on the bench after a quarter and a half....I think mark run the ball maybe 6 times, benfield maybe 8 times and then watched from the sidelines....You can practice all you want but nothing beats good compatition...YOU HAVE TO HAVE A REASON TO STRIVE TO BE BETTER.......
  4. normally I wouldnt like to see a cloudland gate city matchup because gate city is usually pretty good. But I agree this yr. it would have been a great game....But not next yr. So theres the problems with schedules....Just to clear things up I was not insulting virgina teams. I know appalachia is normally much better...I just hate to see these kids not have any comp. this yr.. going into the playoffs....
  5. usually the state of virgina has a great line of single a teams. They are usually strong teams....But I hate to be rude but Ive seen cloudland play rye cove, and appalachia. I actually felt sorry for these guys...I know in football theres is always a chance of getting hurt, but if I am appalachia or rye cove or who ever that has a weak program that yr., why schedule cloudland....Seriously I was expecting someone to get majorly hurt....When you have a 300 plus lineman against a 165 pound lineman that is a major mismatch....when your safety is as big as the whole team on the other side that is a major mismatch.....Hats off to appalachia, a tough bunch of kids and well coached. Played hard till the end....But folks the score could have been 200 to nothing.....No Joke....Come playoffs cloudland which in my opinion are a legitimate gold ball contender will face reality, they havent had to play yet, and will have to when they meet boyd or cpa....Can clouldland beat boyd or cpa? I truely believe they have all the ingredients but havent played a good enough schedule to go the distance...If some of the other bigger schools could have been scheduled then I would say yes.....I know schedules are hard to fill and depend on alot of factors, but that really hurts these guys playing for a championship.....Good luck landers....
  6. when you speak of the best QB in the state, then that is a broad subject.... First is how good would that person play QB at the next level. Second what has that player done for his team and is he a true leader.... Third can he pass, run, take over a game, and do those things on the field that cant be coached..... Im sure there are alot of great QBs in the state and everyone has their favorites. I am a big fan of football and I will give credit where credit is due.... Mark Byrd is an excellent player, division 1 prosbect for sure. But just not at QB..Byrd is an asset at any position and proves that game after game.... Last yr. Will Healy for boyd b. really impressed me at the qb position. Byrd didnt have an A game down there. But I have seen this kid against good compatition, and he can dominate at times..Mark Byrd is one of the top players in tn. Highschool football but probably not the best QB.....Defensive back maybe....If he had 3 more inches height I would let him defend any receiver in highschool...Good luck Mark in the future.
  7. I personally think alot of people need to grow up. Yes the score is an issue, but not the playing time....Lets face it cloudland has a legitament run at a state title this yr. and may not have this chance for another 30yrs...I live in carter county, not roan mtn. and I pull for all the local schools. Come playoffs cloudlands team will meet stiffer compatition and have to play longer that 2 quarters...Conditioning is the key.....You can practice till dooms day, but game time is when you learn...Yes cloudland needs stiffer compatition, but have to make due with what it has till playoff time.....I can tell you this as a coach in the past, cloudlands coaching staff is striving for one thing this season and that is a state championship... Something these kids will forever remember...As for unaka, hampton, or anybody who has played against mark byrd, and company how do you think they would feel sitting at home and watching mark byrd play on sundays. They would feel proud to have played against him no matter what the score....So grow up people especially all from carter co. and lets pull together and support our local teams no matter who it is.....Personally I would love to see cloudland beat the privates. Because I got a news flash for everyone, untill cloudland takes that step and proves they are good enough to beat the privates they are not the best team in the state....Division 5 is the strongest division and has been for many yrs. Wouldn't unaka like to see the private division go down especially since it has cost them a state title in basketball so many times.... GO CARTER COUNTY AND GO LANDERS
  8. 7 min left cloudland 66 unaka 13
  9. first of all hats off to unaka for turning things around. Second cloudland is truely a state champion contender this yr. so unaka just enjoy being on the field with them..Just like many times cloudland has just enjoyed being on the ball court with you all...basketball court that is....Good luck to both teams and may all be healthy.
  10. regarding the comment on mark byrd and no compatition. Thats not his fault that he has to play in that division. TRue he only sees compatition in the playoffs.... But his stats are unreal and just ask any of the quality teams that have played against this kid and they will be the first to tell you how good he is...When he was a freshman in 2a he was the spotlight in a loss to a very good austin east team, in the 2nd round. 10th grade he outshined everyone on the field all the way through the playoffs. Including a very good south pitt. team in the fourth round....Even in the imbarrasing loss to ezell this kid still had over a hundred yrs. rushing. IN the 11th grade not only did he brake a rushing record of almost 30 yrs.. He took his team to the forth round and played verywell against a very good boyd team. What a lot of people dont know is that he broke his hand in the 1st quarter of that game and still was a force to contain...His junior yr. at football camp at UT, he outshined almost all that was invited other that chris leak...Whom he intersepted twice, and was the only defensive back to do so...So far this yr. he has dominated every team or person who has played opposite him. 4a 3a 2a or 1a......This is his yr. Whether he gets recognized by the media is up to them...All he is worried about is all those division 1 letters coming his way. So someone thinks he is pretty good......My vote is for mark byrd.....But to be fair to all the other deserving players I have not seen them play......Good luck to all...
  11. lets get real people. Cloudland is a great team but maryville. Not. As for single a and double a maybe. As far as the playoffs the past two yrs. I attended both cloudlands defeats to ezell and boyd. First of all yes ezell whipped cloudland tail in the state finals two yrs. ago. Half of cloudland star players were in 10 grade. yes the following yr. a very talented boyd team pretty much dominated cloudland on both sides of the ball. Last yr. cloudland had a soft secondary and was one dimensional on offense. Boyd had an excellent passing team and a pretty good run defense. Boyd should have easily won state but they choked...Not to take anything from cpa. An excellent team , but boyd was definately the most talented. Well now this group at cloudland are seniors. All this experence has showed them what they have to do to win a gold trophy....... And from viewing a couple of games of theirs, I do believe the secondary has improved tremendiously from last yr. But most of all I was impressed with their passing ability. I was actually shocked to say the least...All I can say yes cloudland took their whipping the last two yrs., but theys guys are very talented and have experience and are hungry. I also believe through the corrections made on defense and offence they closed the gap by leaps and bounds on the private powerhouses. Can they beat them? Just don't expect the same cloudland team back in the playoffs this yr. Good luck to all who put in the hard work and sweat.... Go Teams...
  12. just wondering if anyone know the cloudland jellico score?
  13. I dont know who has the fastest speed in tn high school, but i have seen a few ridiculous post on the speeds in the 40. Any athlete that can run a sub 4.4 forty is in the wind. I also saw a post about mark byrd. Mark Byrd ran a 4.38 at the University of Tennessee quarterback camp....It was timed by laser, so it accuracy raised the eyebrowels of several division 1 scouts. Including Nabraska, Louisville, Virgina Tech., and yes UT...Good luck mark byrd. Now continue this debate, but continue with a little knowledge of what you are saying. Thankyou!!!!!1
  14. hats off science hill for turning it around so quickly...But I agree DB has two many weapons. Will be a good game till halftime.....I also agree Cloudland could beat Science hill this yr. I would even have to say cloudland could hang with DB up till the 4th quarter...But DB numbers who wear at cloudland which plays both ends of the ball. DB has talented receivers and a good quarterback.
