  1. Oh, naw, naw, that's not it at all. I know this guy; I've looked into his eyes, he is just pure evil. (old Seinfeld routine) You think filming the match was unethical? You ought to play pool with him. Oy vey! Which reminds me. Harry! Those matches I taped of that 112 pounder? It was all a mistake, see!? I'm goin' on the lam, see!? You don't know nuthin', see!? slap, slap, slap, I'll be at Seymore with Cretin From the Sticks, see!? Lee Watkins lee365@bellsouth.net P.S. Move over Mickey Spillane - apologies to Edward G.
  2. Slight mistake in this morning's Chattanooga paper covering the Region 4 results. It said Matt Lettner, Soddy Daisy 215 pounder, was the only Region 4 wrestler entering the state tourney undefeated. Let's not forget ND's 119 who is 44-0 this year. Kudos to both of these fine young men.
  3. Dear Cretin From the Sticks: Just left the Irish Caravan meeting and you were the topic at hand. Our membership committee extends our sincerest invitation for you to join us. I know we're probably too coarse for your liking, and boors like us are beneath your dignity. However. We're not about to let ol' Walkenvol scoop us, he's wiley and all, but he's a telephone man for Heaven's sake! How smart can he be!? (inside joke.) It sounds like you and your's would fit nicely into our scheme of things and would make us better. Please accept our plea to come into the fold. Irish Forever!
  4. I sure hope he comes to our caravan meeting. I've never met a cretin before. I think they came on the scene long after did we troglodytes. Perhaps he'll grace our gathering and give us a cultural lesson in manners and polite [!?] society. Not that we need it or anything... Uh...no Bear Cat, I don't care if that tank top IS green.... So if you meet me Have some courtesy Have some sympathy, and some taste Use all your well-learned politesse Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, um yeah But whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
  5. It depends on what your definition of 'is' is. P.S. If you come, bring lots of quarters. I need to start lettin' up on Bear Cat and Coach Carter. I mean, enough is enough.
  6. There was a good article in this morning's Chattanooga paper highlighting the character and success of Baylor's coaching staff. A well deserved tip of the hat to a fine bunch of gentlemen. They turn out good kids and winning wrestlers. Kudos.
  7. Actually, those two guys were Harry and Bearcat exclaiming: Clarksville!? Really!? What ...uh...wait...umm...whoa....wha? (Noise from the back)...Whooo are you? I'm Bearcat! booba, you want...? Harry says: Saturn rings are where I really live in square of a pyramid is Egyptian, no wait, uh....? it's green.... Irish forever!
  8. I see where McCallie is squaring off against Brentwood Academy for third place. Good luck Mc! I've got a feeling the Blue Tornado will bring home the bronze.
  9. Rab Rouser, Thank you for your post. I owe you one. Please let us know updates, early scores, or anything else about how the Irish is doing. Crumbs are better than nothing.
  10. Harry, Bear Cat: Give me some news! I'm dying here. I saw where the Irish won the first meet with Sycamore. How are we doing in the second meet?
  11. Good luck to the Ooltewah Owls. They've raised eyebrows all year long and will be heard from in Clarksville. They got it goin' on.
  12. Bear Cat and Harry: Your orders are simple: Win or else. 1. Bring home the gold medal. 2. In that other competition, leave no man (or woman) standing. This shouldn't be difficult given the training and coaching I contributed to you two this season. You've learned from the best, so I expect a complete and total rout. Should you fail in this capacity, acknowledgement of your existence will, of course, be denied. If you succeed, I'll reward you by letting you win one on the pool table. Just stay focused on the task and don't go wobbly [!?] on me lest you face the wrath and poison pen of a lesser known poster, you DO NOT want to upset him! I'll see you two at our next strategy session prior to the Regionals and expect a full report.
  13. Walkenvol at his finest... Walkenvol after hanging around with the Irish Caravan
  14. My kid attended a private middle school in the eighth grade and practiced band after classes with a private high school he wound up attending. Did this violate anything? I'm only asking because he didn't pursue band but lettered 4 years in wrestling. In all sincerity, how can a kid in the 8th grade (public or private) prepare for next year's activity if they're moving from a different school?
  15. Bear Cat: Sorry I missed the action at the Owl's nest, but thanks for pointing out the great event in high school athletics it turned out to be. Naturally, I was pulling for the Irish but have nothing but praise for the great job the OHS coaching staff have done with that program. They exemplify the good qualities of competition and sportsmanship and I hope they enjoy their well-deserved success. BTW, a former Lutheran wrestler you might remember had nothing but praise for ND's 112 pounder. The former Lutheran kid attended the Bradley match and was wowed by what he saw. Congrats. Now about your pool table prowess, Harry and I were afraid if we pummeled you two any worse, we'd get reported to the Humane Society. Just wait till next caravan stop - we're talking baby seal time.
  16. Let there be Mayo's. Start time: 3:45 PM.
  17. I'll be there wearing my new ND hat and will atone for yesterday's absence. First round on me.
  18. Why don't you go soak your head? ND doesn't have to drive 150 miles to get a competitive match. There's always high schools with 4 times our student population we can wrestle close by. And as far as who the head wrestling coach is at ND it's none of your dann business. Just because FR and ND wrestled matches a long time ago doesn't mean they have to continue to in perpetuity. Things change. Take, for example, sd189. He might someday figure out why his knuckles scrape...nahhh.
  19. This Notre Dame fan immensely enjoyed watching the Baylor/Soddy Daisy videos. Please do more and thanks for your efforts.
  20. Where is this competition being held?
  21. Why no strategy meeting Wednesday? Just before the Irish host Whitwell and Howard. There's a perfect spot to bring together such a meeting of the minds, it's nestled into the side of Missionary Ridge. You may be familiar with it ( I hear they still remember you.) I made some calls - your ban is lifted.

Be sure to watch the sports page and other community announcements right after Xmas. That's when the clubs usually advertise their initial meeting and sign-up. Plus there will be announcements on this board as well. Chattanooga has numerous youth clubs and they're all outstanding.
