  1. Having seen both teams play already this year, and judging by what has happened in west Tennessee football this year, I would have to say that Adamsville has a shot at the win. Camden has some talented players in the Boyd brothers, Yoder and Markham. Adamsville has T.J. Robinson, Browder (despite his size he is pretty good) and T.J.'s little brother, if he is playing now. The key for Adamsville will be to control the clock. If they can control the line of scrimmage and get Robinson a good game on the ground, they got it. But it won't be that easy. Camden has a very determined group of kids. This could prove to be a very interesting Friday night in Region 6-2 A! Good luck to both teams!!
  2. Actually Drew Hayes is the quarterback. Cody Cook is our running back. So I assume you mean run him more? If so. I agree with you. I think if the Rebels used a little more of a balanced attack with Hayes passing and Cook running, they would be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!! You would have opposing coachs losing sleep because they wouldn't know who to stop!! Anyway. I played defensive end some and several of the special teams. That was a great game! Aaron Cothran (hope spelling is correct) was a load running the ball!! Maybe the guys on this years teams can have a rematch of sorts in the playoffs. Good luck to the Jackets the rest of the year!!
  3. Actually McKenzie recovered that punt, which bounced off one of the Fairview players' leg, at the 28. We then scored on the seventh play with a one yard run by Cook. Cook then added the two point conversion which sent it to overtime. Fairview got the ball first in OT, scored a TD but missed the two point conversion. McKenzie scored on third and 22, compliments of a Drew Hayes pass, and kicked the PAT to win the game. We finished the regular season at 6-4 and third in the region. We then overcame a 17 point third quarter deficit which resulted in a Rebel win in OT. I already explained what we did to Fairview in the second round. In the third round we trailed Lewis County in the fourth quarter and scored the winning touchdown on fourth and ten with 30 seconds left in the ballgame. In the Semis we lost a heartbreaker at Memphis Mitchell 12 to 0. We played with more heart that year than any team I have ever seen. We acquired a nickname, The Cardiac Kids. That cinderella season was my senior year and there was no luck to it!! We simply played harder and wanted it more than the other teams!! Please don't say we got lucky because we beat you. That is just disrespectful!!
  4. What? It's "sad" that I am proud of him? Look. I am not building Cody up. Cody has built himself up! Once again I have to tell some MORON on here that this is a kid who has been All Region, All West and All State the past two years! He was the Region Offensive MVP his Sophomore year!! He is McKenzie's ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER!!! Cody doesn't need help to get built up!! And by the way, if you were from McKenzie and have sat on our side anytime in the past few games, you would hear the fans complaining that he isn't running enough!! Guess what else? I have been one of the last people to say something!! And thanks Duckman38201!! It's good to see someone get on here who knows the facts!! And like I said secretasianman, I am very proud of Cody!! I am not building him up!! I just wish you people that bad mouth Cody on here were man enough to say it to my face. Why do you hide behind a computer to bash a kid that is as good as Cody is? The only reason I use this message board to convey my feelings is, like I said, none of you people are man enough to bad mouth a player of Cody's caliber to his family's face!! It makes me sick!! Once again, I'm very proud of my brother and always will be!! I am his biggest fan and always will be!! Thanks again Duckman38201!!
  5. Look. McKenzie has a very potent running game. Someone by the name of Cody Cook. You might have heard of him. He seems to be pretty well known. Well, by everyone but you. We don't need to create a running game, we just need to USE HIM for a change, and USE HIM wisely. And by the way, we have more than just Lacey at reciever. Let's see, there's Greg Pruitt, Glenn Smith, Julian Tucker, Cody Cook coming out of the backfield and a very talented tightend by the name of Clint Anderson. To be honest with you, Anderson is probably the best of the recievers (no offense Petey, you are good, but Clint just refuses to go down though!!) The only thing you said that I agree with is that McKenzie needs to change things to win. But that is up to the Coach. Good luck Friday Rebels!!
  6. I don't know who you are, and frankly I don't care, but how dare you say that Cody is faking an injury!! Cody has no reason to fake an injury!! Why would the best player on the team fake an injury? According to Coach D, Cody practiced. But I guess Coach D was lying to me about that. And "oc" I don't care what is going on at practice, but Bryson has no buisness EVER starting before Cody! Coach Comer needs to swallow his pride, or whatever the problem is, and put the REAL RUNNING BACK in the game! Bryson isn't as strong, isn't as fast and just isn't anywhere near as good as Cody is!!!! Like I said "rebelman4life", I don't know who you are, but I bet you know who I am, so why don't you come talk to me man to man about this "Cody mess". No I'm not threatning you, I just think we need to get some things straight, just in case you can't hear all the fans in the stands begging to see Cody run the ball. You know they're at every game calling for him. Don't try to deny the fact that we all want to see Cody run the ball. I've kept my mouth shut too long about this situation, but it won't be shut anymore!!!
  7. Mom is fine, for now. And To be honest with you, I have been more upset than she has. She has held her tongue for the most part. I have done 99% of the yelling for our family. Now as for the overall yelling and anger, the rest of the fans had said more than me, until last week at Adamsville. After what he did to Cody last week, I couldn't take it anymore. But I never said anything tell the end of the game then. And by the way. Did you know that Cody put himself in at Adamsville? From what I understand, Coach Comer wasn't even going to put him in. I know this for a fact. Well I know for a fact Cody had to put himself in. Got that straight from the Coaches. And regardless of what anyone says, if Coach Comer wanted Cody to play, he would play him and Cody wouldn't have to put himself in just so he could get some offensive reps. Believe me, Cody wants to carry the ball, and he has every right to want to carry it. Hopefully things will change for the better. Guess will find out next Friday. GO REBELS!!!
  8. I will take a guess and say you are talking about Keagan Ball. I'm not sure though since I'm from McKenzie. But if you are, and he really did pace the sidelines alot, why? From what I know he is a very good player. Seems to me that Mansfield would play the best guys. I don't understand why you would sideline one of your really good players. But I am on the outside looking in, so I don't know what happened since I wasn't at the game.
  9. I would have to agree with Duckman. There are many things that have led to Mckenzie's lack of performance this year. This team has plenty of talent to do good things. But you can't blame it all on the defense. Yes the defense is slacking this year, but this offense is very capable of hanging 50 or so points on teams, if the right personal is on the field. And Duckman, you are right. Cody Cook playing so little running back is hurting us. He is playing less than 50% of the time on offense. I'm tired of everyone in McKenzie, and the other teams we play that don't even know Cody, asking why he isn't playing much offense. And for those of you that heard Cody was hurt, just look at him play. He isn't hurt. You can tell he's not. He's beat up, but so is everyone. It is just that point in the season. I have never heard so many people complain about one guy not playing. And by the way, me and my family have been the last ones to say anything. But I am not saying he is the difference between us being 3-2 and 5-0. But I'll let ya'll in on a secret. The coaches say that we play better offensively with him on the field. There are still plenty of games left though. And with Huntingdon falling tonight and if our defense and offense steps up, who's knows what could happen. GO REBELS!!!!
  10. Just to clear the air, when I say "category" I'm talking about their skill. And technically you can group Drew and Cody together since they are backs. They are both considered offensive backs. Did you know that they are grouped together for Mr. Football? And Cook got 1200 yards last year without Ricky. Cody was responsible for his own success. Ricky didn't carry the ball for him. Ricky didn't make the jukes for him. Ricky didn't break the tackles for him. Ricky didn't score the touchdowns for him. I'm not trying to take anything away from big Rick, because he was a help, but he didn't make Cody. Cody made himself. And another thing. We didn't run behind Ricky everytime. And the more he carries the ball, the better he gets. So we can keep using him. It worked his sophmore year. And I bash Tron because it is his own fault and they are not excuses they are facts. If he had worked out the past two summers he might be a little better. I refuse to give a player credit when he doesn't even want to better himself. And two McKenzie fans aren't arguing. I throw out the facts and you have to come back with a pointless comment to try to defend what you said. Face the facts. So leave me alone and don't say things like Cody's success came at the hands of another player. Just give credit where credit is due. GO REBELS!!!!
  11. Actually if I thought that I would be correct. It is very possible for a rookie to be awesome. I would consider Drew a rookie last year. Yes he played in some games his freshman year, but he really got the true starter nod last year. I think he had a pretty good year. Didn't he break a lot of records? Didn't he get a lot of post season honors? Yes he did!! And do you recall Cody's sophmore year? Let's see? Didn't he break a lot of records? Didn't he get a lot of post season honors? Yes he did!! Did you know he had never started a game until then? So the only reason Cody is good isn't because he started at runningback for a few years, it's called natural ability! Drew has it. Cody has it. Petey has it. So a rookie can be good. Don't make excuses for Tron's lack of ability, strength and work ethic. He needs to stay on defense. Cody has the runningback spot taken care of. He shouldn't have to split time with a guy that, excuse for the phrase, CAN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO HIM!! Like I said, I don't like talking smack about our players, but don't try to put Tron in the same category as Cody and Drew. GO REBELS!!!
  12. No Tron wasn't impressive. I don't like dogging our own players but he just isn't. Now the other guys, Cook, Keanthony and even Drew on his two or three runs looked good. He is too small, too weak and he just doesn't have the true runningback talent. He does good on D though. Hope to see more of the balanced attack Friday against Camden. Maybe they will let Cook carry it more than 9 or 10 times. But regardless of that we need to come away with the WIN!! GO REBELS!!!!
  13. If they bring it together they should be there. There are still some kinks. but they progress every week. You think if the guys play to their full potential they can make it to the Boro? I know it's a little early to be asking, but you never know who could be there. That's why they play the game.
  14. Let me tell you a secret. McKenzie does have a rushing game. And it is more potent than ever, if given the ball. And the run did fairly well when it wasn't getting called back on penalties. The line just needs a little more practice and discipline. It will all come together. GO REBELS!!!!!!!
  15. I thought this thread was dead. No Cody has those yards because he is a very talented back. And McKenzie doesn't have an easy schedule. If are schedule was so easy how come a couple years ago for two years in a row you guys were watchin us play in the semis? Not taking anything away from ya'll because ya'll were a talented football team and still are. Just give credit were credit is due. And don't get on here and dog a player you obviusly know nothing about. Cody is a hard working and talented athlete that loves the game more than most people. So why don't you face the facts (Cody's stats and awards) Before you post again. Good luck Dawgs!! and....... GO REBELS!!!
  16. I assume that you are saying that Cody would not have as many yards right? That must be what you mean because everyone in this town believes we wouldn't be anywhere without Drew and that we can't get anywhere with Cody. I'm sorry. Not everyone believes that. Just the folks that are in Drew's little army of fans. Well you know there are people that know Cody is good and it ain't just his family. And all this ain't in fun either. All you people honestly believe that Drew is our saving grace. So I want you to tell all ya'lls friends and everyone one in your family's that you people make me sick and that Cody is the best and hardest working athlete on the team!!! Drew, Petey, Clint, Ben, Paul and all you other guys if ya'll are reading this I want ya'll to know that I don't mean to take anything away from ya'll. You guys are all talented athletes. I'm just sick of all this crap. It's about time you people realized that not everyone buys the crap ya'll are trying to sell. And if you have anymore little comments, bring the to me because I'd like to discuss them in person. I'll be at every game. No I don't want to start anything. I just think it's about time you people know how some people actually feel about this. Well as always...... GO REBELS!!!!
  17. I totally agree that they need each other. They each take pressure off the other. But Cody broke the school rushing record before Drew ever started a game. So I wouldn't exactly say that he got better with Drew in there. Although I do agree it took pressure off of him, which was good. And the quarterback might not always be in the spotlight and be the leader of the team. I believe people would agree with me when I say that even though Ray Lewis plays linebacker for the Ravens, he is the true leader of that team. So you don't have to lead the offense to lead the team even though that is what most people say. And no I'm not saying Drew isn't capable of being the leader. So I wish the Rebels luck against Obion County this Friday!! Hope we take a big crowd. GO REBELS!!!!
  18. Well I'm curious Coach Lunn(I'm fairly confident that is who this is). Are you trying to say that Cody Slacked off in the playoffs? Well, since you asked about his stats I'll tell you. At the end of week 9 he had 1,167 yards rushing (Eclipsing the school rushing record). After the Huntingdon game he added 89 yards. Now during the 4 games of the playoffs he had 131 carries for 482 yards. Now that is only 3.7 yards a carry but that is also 120.5 yards a game at an average of 32 carries. Now the only word that comes to my mind is "WORKHORSE"!! For him to be able to even be able to keep going was a task in itself. Now all I want is for McKenzie to have a TRULY BALANCED ATTACK. This will open us up so that we can totally dominate teams. So enjoy the season!!! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!
  19. Then why can't you people say this. Why say things like McKenzie doesn't stand a chance without Hayes? Why do you all think that McKenzie is doomed without him? A good team and a good coach well find other ways to win. I certainly hope that everyone has more faith in the team and Coach Comer than to honestly believe that without one man we are going to fail. We can't have a good TEAM until people start to believe in the guys. Believe in the TEAM not the individual. I know the guys on the team think that if Drew goes down they can win more games and stand a chance against Huntingdon or Camden. They know that even in the face of adversity they can still shine!! That is what makes a truly great TEAM!! Let's let Cody and Drew actually feed off each other this year and see what happens. I think you would be truly amazed at how good we could actually be! So enough bickering and let's agree on at least one thing..... GO REBELS!!!!
  20. That is all I wanted to know. I guess the guy that was named all region, all west and all state the past 2 years can't make a difference?? That's fine. This is really funny though. I was told I was building hype and being cocky because I said Cook was a difference maker. But I forget the people in McKenzie and the surrounding area have a different set of rules for Drew though. But it ain't his fault. I truly believe that Drew is a good athlete. I bet Cook would really like to know that you people think so highly of him after all he has went through to be on that field. The kid has played his heart out the past 2 years. The kid eats, sleeps and breathes football. He loves the game. Always has, always will. But I refuse to get into an argument about who the better player is or anything ridiculous like that. I just think that is a shame that Cody isn't even considered good enough to hang with the top guys anymore. But I got news for you, HE IS!! Regardless of what some people think since Drew is here, Cody is a very talented football player. Offensively, defensively and special teams. But enough said. I wish the Rebels the best of luck this year. Hope the guys make a playoff run this year.
  21. Huntingdon's line looked good. They had good size and looked like they knew what they were doing. I won't say they were dominating, but they certainly weren't pushovers either. Course rumor has it that Henry County used the second string... Anyone know if that is true??? And one last thing, "The Rebels have a kid in the backfield named Cook and I really believe that he would be good enough for them to beat the lesser teams in region 6-2A." So you believe that Cook is only good enough to compete with the bottom half of the region??
  22. I will agree that Lexington had a more balanced attack. I will also agree that the running game was not at its peak last night either. But the running back is slow?? Now you can believe me when I say this or choose not too, but Cook runs a consistent 4.6 40. No this isn't just from coaches this is from real deal college combines. But don't worry, once the line steps up you won't know whether to call in the Air Force to stop the passing attack or call in the tanks to stop the ground game!! But you guys won't know that this year since you ain't on our schedule but everyone else will. So best of luck to the Lexington Tigers, I believe you guys will go far this year!! Do West Tennessee proud!!
  23. Never once have I said he is the only reason McKenzie will win games. If you read what I wrote I explained it pretty clearly. I said his attitude was infectious. I said it rubbed off on his teammates. You see what I said? His TEAMMATES! I have played football and know one man alone can not win games. Cook knows this as well. If you believe I am going overboard, then you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Once again I must say please do not get on here and try to start something. I am not saying that is your goal, but that is how it is percieved. I get on here because I love the game and to let everyone know that there is a TEAM in McKenzie. And to have a team you need more than just your quarterback. I realize this and it is time for ya'll to appreciate the work Paul Edwards, Ben Boyd, Mark Ghyers, Cody Cook, Clint Anderson, Shaun Luna and all the other guys put in, not just Drew Hayes. I will no longer satisfy ya'lls need for controversy with a reply to any more of ya'lls pointless posts. Enjoy the season!!
  24. I don't get on here to talk smack. I don't have to say these things. His records and awards from the past two years speak for themselves. They explain the stuff I've said. Me being his brother has nothing to do with it. Like I said all his honors speak for themselves. But none of you people seem to care about his on field accomplishments. All ya'll care about is what one person on coacht has to say about him. Don't dwell on the fact that I'm proud of him, just look at the facts.
  25. I don't believe I said Cook was the only back in the region. Never once did I say that those other guys weren't talented. They are all very good runningbacks. I hope they all have good seasons but I'm more interested in McKenzie. And no that is not being cocky. Yes this is a team sport. But yes the presence of a player can alter a team. When you have a guy that is as dedicated, works as hard and loves the game like Cook does, it is infectious. It changes the mood of your team. It rubs off on you. It makes you want to win. And since Cook has already proven himself two years in a row, I don't believe I have built any hype or expectations for him to live up too. With this said, don't comment on things you are not involved in and don't get on here if all you want to do is start stuff. I simply state the facts.
