  1. Obviously you don't remember much of your storied career in 1996 because Oneida did not make the playoffs. They were in AA ball and went 4-6. The next year in 1997 they dropped back to A ball and went to the semi's losing to a tremendous Trousdale team.
  2. Yes, the score was 28-0, I was not aware that you read the score wrong when you posted your first response. Yes the score is all that matters when looking at W's and L's. I didn't realize that a good coordinator had to win every single game. Like oskie said Coach Lambert has been doing this for a day or three and he has a pretty good track record. I thought this thread was about the best coordinators, not about trashing them and then making a tremendous response about scores mattering.......
  3. Because a team gives up scoring drives of 3, 6, and 22yds the d-coordinator isn't doing his job? If they get a first down on 2 of them they score. I think it was Lambert's D that held Davis to 54yds on 19 carries. I rekon that would come out to around 2.7 per carry, not bad for East TN's 2nd leading rusher.
  4. Explain the missed tackles, that's easy these are high school kids. Also, Davis runs hard, Oneida missed tackles when Coach Daniels was there, when Coach May was there, they missed tackles with co-head coaches, and they will be missing tackles 100yrs from now, just like everybody else. The half back pass play, you are right everyone in the stadium knew it was coming, Coach Lambert only told the defense that about 20 times, the other TD pass was blown coverage. You can't go play for them, you coach them and tell them what to do, but the kids have to do it. Last night Coalfeld did it and Oneida didn't.
  5. Same story every year. Region 1 is much improved, was it Unaka last year that was ranked in the top 5 in the state? I'm pretty sure region one was "LOADED" last year too, pretty sure no one made it out of the first round. Hampton dropping down should do ok. They ran into Oneida in '93 and '94 when Hampton was supposedly "loaded". Oneida ended Hampton's season big both times. Only way to tell who's got it and who don't it to strap'em on and get to buisness friday nights!
  6. There is a difference between a game and a scrimmage, but Oneida usually SCRIMMAGES teams better than them, not Sunbright. What in the world are you talking about Alcoa and Maryville for? Scott and Campbell? I know people play bigger schools, Oneida used to do it all the time. Non-region games were hard, big schools from KY, not McCreary Co. either, GP and what not. Again, it's a shame that people from Scott High are more concerned with what Oneida is doing and if they and Oneida are playing than winning their own region. I guess if Scott and Oneida played and Scott won, they could say they were the best team in Scott county, braggin' rights baby!!! The last couple years Scott probably would've beaten Oneida and Scott would've been talkin' the talk, while Oneida was playing in the playoffs. Honestly, other than parents, no reason they shouldn't play, but they don't and getting on here and running your mouth ain't gonna change it. Good luck to Scott this season. You guys work hard and you are in a serious region. Too bad people have to get on here and act like fools. Anyway, I'm just about done with this topic, please keep posting some more blabber....... Keep up the good work Rambling Riot! thumb
  7. Oneida won in the hardest region in AA. As for Oneida playing in the hardest region in AAA, if Oneida had 700-800 students, that's where they would be and they wouldn't be complaining. Oneida scrimmaged Fulton in '94 and beat them, scrimmaged Livingston in '96 and beat them. Were they the same teams they have been recently, nope, but still not bad for a little A school. And yes, you are mistaken that Oneida has 60 kids on a football team, highest number is around 44. That says alot about athletics at Oneida that in a single A school that many kids want to play and at a AAA school with double the enrollment, there is 30 on the team. You rekon that's why Oneida has a winning tradition? Naa, couldn't be because their kids work hard, must just be the region. I wish you guys were in single A ball. I wish that from a random selction 300 kids would be plucked from your school. At random, not matter who, how many ball players you think you would have left? You guys would look like Oakdale out there with about 15-20 kids. No, I take that back, I don't wish that would happen, that would give you that much more to get on coacht and complain about..... So Jellico asks you to play them, that's nice at least you couldn't turn them down. As for basketball, you guys still playing Sunbright, Jellico and Oakdale this year too? I would hope you don't get beat by them, you have what, 3-4 times the number of students. I guess you gotta get your wins where you can get them though..................
  8. That is the region Oneida is placed in, not one that they picked. I think it's funny you are critisizing Oneida for playing small schools, when Scott schedules Jellico in football and Oakdale in bball. Oneida seems to be the focus of most of Scott High football, too bad that Scott High winning some football games isn't the focus of Scott High football. I wish Scott the best of luck in athletics. However, getting on the internet and talking bad about Oneida will not bring results on the field. Since you are so hung up about oneida being bigger than these schools, why all the concern about Oneida and Scott High playing. If numbers are all that matters, theoretically, Scott should destroy Oneida, only because they have more students. That way you could feel good about beating a smaller school. thumb
  9. Finish 9-3 in '93 losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs in AA. Went 10-0 in the regular season, region champs, lost in the semi's to Harriman in AA finished 13-1.
  10. Agreed. If the best team in area 2 is Wartburg, they would've beaten Oneida. One was stolen away at your place, hmmmm, the better teams usually are in a position that the refs can't steal a game. Let's say that is the case though, there were two other games where the BEST team in area 2 won, neither time was it Wartburg. Wartburg has a good team, I will not take anything away from them, but they were not better than Oneida. Best of luck to you in the championship.
  11. 825563591[/snapback] Must've been hard on the boy playing football. He would've lost a year of eligibility moving from SHS to Oneida without a change of residence, and then lost another year when he moved back. I've been around Oneida athletics for for awhile, I have never heard of such a thing.Could you give us a year on when this male athlete was supposedly at Oneida?
  12. I'm sure PJ's best scorer's lack of points had nothing to do with Oneida's defense. Naaa, just a bad night. The only reason they lost is because Oneida BEAT them, they scored more points, that's how you win. Playing hard is good, doing everything right is good, being the best team in the world is good, but if you don't score enough points to beat the worst team in the world, guess what you lose. I was at the game, I saw the game, it could've went either way and Oneida pulled it out, give the kids some credit. I though the best scorer was supposed to be suspended anyway? Guess either he wasn't or it was a rumor.
  13. It is hard to manage ones emotions. Like coltsfan said, a coach has a responsibility to act like an adult. A coach and a team does more than represent that coach and that team. They are a reflection on themselves, the school, the system, and the community as a whole. I missed the Jellico event. All I know about them was that they had a very large and athletic team. Good luck to the Fairview men in their next game.
  14. Kazam, I agree it is about the kids. As a coach what are you teaching these kids, what kind of example is being set, how can you expect them to expect to win when as a coach you do nothing but complain about something all the time. Coach to the best of your ability and play the hand you are dealt.
  15. Fairview's men need to be applauded. They won with class and they lost with class. A lot of that comes down to coaching. When Oneida beat them he made no excuses and was very gracious. There are some others should take this path. Coach Jeffers and Coach Chambers have done a tremendous job. Their efforts should be applauded, but they have been rewarded with the play of their team.
  16. Why is this and what brought this on? Seeing as how they went to the TMSAA finals, and Coach Sexton is their coach, am I not following the logic here?
  17. Yeah, should be interesting to see how many points Robbins can roll up on Slow-neida's defense..........
  18. Oneida didn't go to another county to play in a jamboree this year, they had a scrimmage in Wayne County, KY. The year before the coach called 2 days before the jamboree and asked them to play in it.
  19. They got lucky against Huntsville. That was some of the worst tackling I have ever seen. Lafollette should hand it to them this week, then Fairview will beat them by 8-12 points I predict. They will wish they never set foot on the same field as the Robbins Hawks!
  20. I agree about Sexton, he will have big game against the Indians. Oneida will be lucky to slow him down, no way they will stop him. IF Oneida shows up, Huntsville by 8 if not Huntsville by 20.
  21. Whitley almost returned several kicks. So #25 and #51 had a good hit each, wow! Those are some amazing special teams, and since they both have a had 1 good hit all the more reason to declare the OMS special teams good.
  22. I think you are delusional if you think that OMS has even decent special teams. Have you ever even seen them play? Also, the title game, naaa. I see Huntsville there with some breaks, but not Oneida. They WILL back down when they get challenged and smacked around. Defense is their "strong" point, if you call it a strong point. "Offense can be slow at times" from what little I've seen and all of what I've heard is it's slow all the time. The Bears will be ready to pillage the Indian village Thursday night!!!!
  23. Well good, I'm glad they moved the ball all over the field, after all that's what matters, not the score. The Indian D is overrated, they have not faced anything like what the bears will bring. This one will be won by the more aggressive Bears. Oneida will lay down when they get smacked around a little. Like I say, the Bears are coming to pillage the village.......
