    top 10

My picks: 1. Brentwood: good start 2. Houston: surprising 3. Farragut: must stay up 4. Franklin: getting better 5. McMinn: nice win 6. Bearden: bad loss 7. Hendersonville: new stadium; old coach 8. Blackman: program is building 9. Germantown: always tough 10. Columbia: hanging on from last year Others receiving votes, not necessarily in any order: Science Hill (anybody who beats another school by 26 goals probably deserves to be in the top ten); Oak Ridge; Collierville.
  2. Thanks Trackman. I thought I was the only one tired of pgd's childish whining. Also: CHS 152, you don't owe him an apology.
  3. Interesting that you apologized. It seems like he ran his mouth and you apologized for saying it. I hope I can see him wrestle.

    12-AAA?

Centennial 4-Antioch 1 Brentwood 5-McGavock 0 Centennial 2-Brentwood 1 (not an upset) Brentwood is tough, but look at the record of their opponents. And Centennial has "you know who!"
  6. I hear there are at least two middle TN coaches retiring this year. You may not want either one cause their both old. From McGavick and Clarksville. They both have decent programs. I pleayed against both. McGavick is a nice dude and quiet. Clarkesville is not. A real hard --- but he's good and his players like him.
  7. How's mcGavock doing? Is the same coach still there?
  8. Help me RealGoEagles. I missed something. What does a score have to do with the discussion? And Cloudland?
  9. Way to go BigRed. You really hit the nail on the head on all points. If afforded the opportunity, people can succeed, regardless. We agree completely. Of course, they must be afforded the opportunity. Funny how people get so riled up. Before the integration of the public schools we didn't have a public/private split, we had white and black schools. Maybe this next split is just the inevitable result. Recruiting is illegal but will seldom be reported because it is so difficult to prove. It also presents a tremendous cost to that person who reports it. Pujo knows!
  10. Again Takedown, you will probably find a number of articles about minority students who have attended private schools and done well. I think we can assume then that 1) minority students can do well at private schools or any other to which they are admitted, and 2) the high achievement of minority students at private schools is so rare as to be newsworthy, not because of lack of ability but because of lack of numbers. And in reference to the rural white schools, you're probably right there too. A combination of the two factors you mention.
  11. Gonyea and Cook both did great jobs, but how can it go to anyone but Logsdon? He won the state championship again - and dominated the state. No one was close.
  12. Excuse me Takedown, if he's not an exception, then why is it so newsworthy as to be printed in the paper?
  13. Redtwin I have a bridge over the Cumberland I'll sell you if you really believe what you said about private schools. Do you also believe that we have changed attitudes in the last 30 years, more that in the previous 100 years?
  14. I exluded those schools because they were in existence before desegregation and since they were private, they were segregated by choice. If you don't see parallels, nothing can help you. It's like somebody said on another thread: they don't want to go to school with you and they really don't want to compete with you. But since there really aren't enough of like schools to justify a "state championship," then they want the publics to go along with them. Seven or eight schools compete every year for state championships in D2 in all sports. Let them continue. But it's also economic. They'll accept nonwhites as long as they have the money to pay and the right beliefs.
  15. Interesting that a Catholic school in Hamilton County was the first to desegregate. When did the publics catch up with the law? I don't think it was stated that prejudice in public schools doesn't continue to exist. Of course it does. Prejudice exists everywhere in our society and the world. Sunday morning is the most segregated time in America. But do you actually believe there's racial harmony because private schools value diversity? I'll bet the diversity you're talking about consists of a couple of black kids (or ten or twenty) whose parents are also financially stable and maybe an Indian or Pakistani or two. There is no diversity in thought. At least that's what has been implied here.
  16. eastside you've changed your name but not writing style: duhhh! You've done one positive thing: a lot more people know where Fairview is now. Most colleges require their students to read and write English. Perhaps you can take the TESOL. Can you even spell G-R-A-M-M-A-R?
  17. volunteergen how about this? A complete split. All nonpublic schools are in one division and all public in another. Each division makes its own rules. No competition between divisions allowed. The private school with the most money at the end of the season wins. How many of your posts refer to publics not being able to compete?
  18. pummelking - how many double OT matches are won by the guy on top? Because he lost before doesn't mean he got beat this time. "Let's go to the tape!" Maybe you know too much and it clouds your vision?
  19. Right. Those are the real reasons! Check the dates the private schools blossomed. Your answer only magnifies the bigotry. Now we hide behind religion for segregating ourselves. And then you imply that a requirement for being a good teacher is that a person must be a Christian. Please.
  20. Why do you all beat around the bush? All this talk about why people send their kids to privates is a sham. Other than MBA, Ryan, and a couple of others, when did these private schools start and really grow? Privates ballooned when public schools were desegregated. What a joke! Dead bodies in the hallways, stabbings, drugs, give me a break. Those things go on anywhere there are kids - even private schools! Why not just say you want resegregation? Oops, I forgot! Now almost all privates have a minority or two. But now resegregation is not only racial, it's also economic.
  21. The D1, 275 match was great. But I think the 215 match you described was even better. The winner really deserved it. two or three times. What was the incident with the kid from Millington, at 275? On video, it sure looks like the clock ran our before Reed got away. Another example of a bad call? Or was the ref late with the whistile?
  22. Intesting about the Royals. They always seem to play a level down from where they should be. I never thought they were that hot. A bunch of crybabies. They're not even in the same league with TNFC, Fever, Memphis FC, or the Knoxville area teams. I'd wondered about Clarksville because none on the other schools in the area are even close to them. I guess I never realized the Royals helped them that much.
  23. UPS since you played there, what's the secret at Clarksville High? Do they have a better feeder program than the other schools in the area? There's got to be something. They seem to get more competitive.
  24. Sorry, I didn't mean to get anything started. I only wanted to ask a couple of questions. Still, I wonder if anyone has ever been sued for comments/opinions posted on a message board. Some of the posts are definitely offensive, but I'm not sure that is grounds for a law suit. I'll have to look into that. And chskicker. I'm sorry you're unloved or whatever causes you to strike out at everyone. What makes you even more pitiful is that apparently you don't even realize you're doing it. ftballkicker. We all should have a brother like you. Keep it up.
  25. I've been following this public/private thing for a while. There are the biggest bunch of hypocrits I've ever read on this thread and the rest on this whole board. Not one of you will state the real reason you send your kids to private schools! All I read is about the academics of MBA, etc. What a joke and a smoke screen! MBA's been around for over 100 years. Then, somebody talks about crackheads, etc. C'mon out and say it! Tell everybody the real reason.
