  1. Multiplier worked well in baseball last year... A JCS vs. Friendship AA USJ vs. Goodpasture
  2. I think it is hilarious that CPA fans are complaining about Lipscomb's stall. The last time CPA won a district championship was in 1998 against the eventual state champs, Ezell Harding. Guess what strategy Mike Ellson (former boys coach) used... THE STALL. The score was like 24 to 22 or something like that. The game was played at DCA. Then, the next year, 1999, they used the stall again... Region quarterfinals they were the 4 seed. Davidson Academy was the 1 seed. CPA won in a barnburner... 19 to 17 or something like that. Maddux, Mercer and Goodpasture got the stall put on them in 1994 in the state championship game against BGA.

    Goodpasture

This is sort of related... Did anybody watch the Red Sox and Mariners last night? Dice-K (incorrect spelling) and Felix Hernandez threw. Anyways there were highlights of Dice-K throwing in Japan in his high school national tournament... ESPN said he threw 240 pitches in 18 innings in one game, closed another game, and threw a no-hitter in another game... Talk about wearing a kids arm down.
  4. Is Blount County (Maryville, Alcoa) an "open zone"? How does that work? Could "undue influence" be used there? What other county public school systems are like that?
  5. Not to say that it can't be done... however, does anyone else think that it is weird that a school with 300 students won back to back football state titles in the largest classification of schools in 1995 and 1996 (3A)? Maybe it's just me.
  6. "...undue influence BA used"? Please elaborate on what you are asking me to explain.
  7. One of two things will happen. 1. TSSAA will charge member schools X number of dollars for X number of years to pay attorney fees b/c TSSAA is just the governing body of its representing schools. 2. TSSAA will file for bankrupty and start over without any private school allowed in membership. Private schools can start their own association. Do not forget what this whole thing is about. TSSAA believed BA was recuiting. TSSAA bylaws say it is illegal to recruit in any form of communication by a member school or its representatives. TSSAA was right on that principle. And that's all the TSSAA was concerned about. Unfortunately, BA and the courts said that was against their 1st amendment rights. So if BA and other private schools do not want to abide by this rule that was put in place it own member schools (board of control) than its an obvious slap in the face to every public and/or private school that does abide by its own rules.
  8. Is this game still on tonight? I wasn't sure because of the weather.
  9. So, the only side that you heard was hers and took that to be "the truth." You're also the same person that claimed that York Institute was in a "weak district" (in the york upperman thread). You really need to get your facts straight before you start making false accusations toward the DCA coach or anyone else. There are a bunch of people at DCA that knows our coaches run a great program and teach more than the game af basketball to our young ladies. We wouldn't trade any of them.
  10. timbmp, no disrespect, the foul count was 9 to 3 in the first half in favor of White House. In the second half, it was 9 to 6 in favor of DCA. Only because White House was down late, and they had to foul. Also, what does bmp stand for? Just curious. Why are we talking about players that left on a DCA, White House thread? Since we are, I have an opinion. To Shpshter93, Megan was a freshman when she was at DCA in 2003 and she got to play some in varsity. Why would any good basketball coach tell a player after a freshman year that played some in varsity, that "they can't play here."? "It was just bad judgement by DCA coaches" you say. Neither you or I know all the facts, because we weren't there. You are falsely accusing the DCA coach and/or Megan. I do agree with you she could've helped DCA last year, but I disagree with you with the fact that she would be the best player with Kortni Hester this year. She would play a lot this year at DCA, but I don't see her starting over those four seniors and one sophomore this year. They are pretty solid mentally and physically. Everyting happens for a reason. DCA fans hope Megan and her parents are happy with where they are at. That's all that matters.
  11. If Brown scored 50 against UHS at York and they couldn't win, I don't see them winning at Upperman. However, this is a very good basketball district which anything can happen.
  12. A catholic team will win. ( That was my tribute to muffin post.) I like Papa John's to win.
  13. This is a big district game for both teams. White House has one loss (to DCA) and DCA hasn't lost in the district to date. Kortni Hester (DCA) didn't play the last time these two met at White House due to a neck injury. White House had a starter out with the flu, I believe. timbdp is that right?
  14. Goodpasture won 11-0 in six. They will play again at 2 bells.
  15. 4-2 in the fifth. overton is winning
  16. GP scored 5 in the first. That's all I know.
  17. usj 11-2 in the top of the fifth

    USJ vs DCA

Whoever loses in this game, plays again tonight . So it will be a short trip for someone.
  19. The bats will get warmed up for them. BP is totally different than getting live AB's. The more AB's they get, the better offensively they will be. I was impressed with their team speed and aggressiveness on the bases.
  20. Does anyone know how they did yesterday against BGA?
  21. Goodpasture and USJ in the finals. It will be an interesting matchup when these two play in the warrior classic at Riverdale.
  22. The rumor is that they are already having internal problems because of so much talent and/ or egos.
  23. jealousy...cheating...it's all sin.
