  1. You have problems going from A to B. You STATED that you were going to keep sports out of your earlier response, and then stated that public and private school systems should not be seperate. But your response above is chocked full of sports reasons. I want clarification. Are you saying that there should not be private schools? If you are, then this is my response to you. There will be private schools as long as there is schools period. The first schools in this country were Catholic schools and it is an part of the church's overall mission to educate, not an option not to educate, it has to be done and will be done. As to the sports part of it, it is secondary in importance and that is what seperates myself from you. As to your wild remarks concerning biases, no one and I mean no one is more biased as proven by their ballyhoo on many topics than you. And once again, you said you were not going to respond to my posts, you lied again. PS on the volleyball thread, could you post about the damage and hurt that having the Mid Tn Classic at the new location has caused, I would like to know. One other thing, isn't you experience limited to attending a small private college called David Lipscomb, so should you not limit your comments about the public school system which is a entirely different animal than when you attended school. Most all schools were good back then, just not now.
  2. To quote you, there should not be seperate public-private school systems, but you stated that you are leaving sports out of this post. Thus my question, how could private schools and public schools be in the same school systems. Answer, they cannot, except in the area of sports and it seems they cannot do this either.
  3. The Tennessean reported that approximately two thousand less fans showed up at state first day than the previous year. I wonder if this has anything to do with the length of the postseason.( i personally dont have a problem with it) but I wonder if .especially in this economy, its putting a strain on people if you are having to pay for all of these games. if you think about it you could be paying for 2-4 ditrict tourney games 3 region games a substate game and possibly 3 state games you are looking at close to $80 and thats not including gas and food If I am correct the price of admission is 12 dollars to Div I state, it was 15 dollars to Div II state.
  4. The Tennessean reported that approximately two thousand less fans showed up at state first day than the previous year.
  5. Once again we have a poster who tells outright lies on this board. I have never said that all private schools don't recruit, just that Father Ryan does not, I stand by that statement. I believe you are (Hargis) the great distorter of truth on this board as evidenced by your latest post. The topic being discussed here is about a private school (not Catholic) that is affecting rural schools in a particular area. It has nothing to do with your ignorant and silly post. As I stated earlier, if they are giving financial aid to athletes, they should be in Div II. As to my comment about Ensworth reloading, are you stating that they are cheating? If you are, quit hiding behind your attempted poorly veiled statements. I have always said and will continue to post that there are great differences among private schools in the way they operate. It now and always depends on the integrity and honestly of the various administrations that run the different schools. As to your assinine statement about someone representing the Catholic church, I represent them as a faithful participant same as every other Catholic which has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic here. If GCA is found to be in violation, then I am sure that the TSSAA will handle it as they deem necessary. Don't put words in my mouth Hargis. You are not the authority here on any topic though you may think you are. If you would spend your time explaining your posts to the many posters who don't know what the heck you are talking about, that would consume most of your time. You are biased against Div II with the underlying reason being, that you want all schools in the same Division and have total disregard as to the effect on underprivledged students, just reunite them, thats your philosophy. Your most silly statement about me having a hidden agenda and pushing it on this board is stupid. I watch athletic contests and enjoy them and do not worry about what division a team is in. I could care less about Div I and Div II except when it affects a student who is underprivledged who cannot get financial aid without having to sacrifice playing sports if he or she is a ballplayer. That is wrong and that is why I am glad there is a Div II. And lastly for the hundreth time, if you have my posts on ignore, how come you are always whining and responding to them, another false statement by you sir. OLD Eagle, I understand your feelings about the rural problem and private schools. The only solution here is to place them in Div II if they are found guilty of wrongdoing. But they won't force them to change Divisions, only sanctions or a fine. The problem will continue to exist. If Phil Hargis advice is heeded, then there would be no need for a Coach T, because the only people on it would be the ones who agree with Phil Hargis, everyone else would be ignored. Phil Hargis needs to concern himself with the Mid Tn Tournament and all the fallout that he posted would happen. Oh by the way, your ignore button must not be functioning properly One last correction, Ensworth did not win nor did they play in the title game last football season, MUS and MBA did, Ensworth has never won a football championship yet, another error by you know who. And I have no cohorts Phillip, and neither do you. And yes I would report a violation to the Bishop whom I have known for 30 years if the integrity of Father Ryan was being threatened. I fail to see how you calling me a liar on the previous statement makes any sense at all. But I don't have to worry about reporting anything, Ryan does not do thattttttttttttt. Got It.
  6. I think the champion every year would win it under any system 99% of the time. And who cares if Michigan makes a killing on the tournament, does that make it a better tournament, more exciting, more competitive, maybe, maybe not. It appears that the system Michigan uses would make the season much longer and cut into other sports which are itching to get started. And why would a team that is 0-20 be able to have a shot at a state title, should you not have to earn a trip to the tournament.
  7. Only a dumbo would match up teams in the tournament that ensured the most revenue. A blind draw is the most fair way. Any other way or thought would lead to favorites, politics, etc. How is it not fair to match two powerhouses in the first round. You must want it like the NCAA. I wonder if anyone complains about their method. Guess what, they complain bitterly that this team or that team got screwed. You just can't satisfy some people. I am glad that either Mt Juliet or Riverdale is going home first round. The one drawback is Fryer can devote more time to coaching his players during AAU if he loses first round.
  8. Congradulation to Paige as well. Hey Knight-Time if you would get that heat meter fixed, the team might have advanced farther. It was just too hot in that gym. Knight-Time aka Lazarus is still around.
  9. So, anyone who was there...is this pretty much how it went down? Was the game ever close in the 2nd half? Congrats to Ensworth. They needed to win it with this team. They should still be solid next year, but I can't see them being as dominant without Carpenter and Allsmiller. It was never close, total domination. As to next year, they will re-load quickly. Two state titles in a five year old school. They know how to re-load.
  10. So now a fund at a church to help underprivledged kids is wrong. I don't know any fund at a public school either because there is no tuition at a public school. It is free. Your argument is tired and old and has been beat to death. Nothing new. By the way, I don't ever remember anyone posting that you can't obtain a college degree after going through public high school. That is commendable and you have plenty of company that did the same, perhaps some that you might not suspect. But sports is sports and education is education and the intermingling of the two is where much confusion is created. I personally would consider it a privledge to attend a small rural school, but it seems not to be enough for some folks. You mentioned that public schools have no fund to help their students. Now thats a great idea, why don't you make the effort and start that fund at your closest public school to help students in need to be able to graduate and then maybe attend college. Thats the most important thing anyway, right. You don't remember posting "you see he was educated when he attended school" ? Yes a fund for under privelaged kids to attend private school is illegal according to TSSAA ,WHY? Because thats something public schools can't offer. True , public school is free , but when something normally costs money and lots of it when your offered that for free its way more appealing than that that has always been free. Am I right? Using a fund from an affiliated church to pay kids tuition IS MOST CERTAINLY against TSSAA rules. If that money went to any kid that needed it it would be different , but somehow the kids that need it the most are 6-4 200lb athletes. Using funds from an affiliated church is not against rules, you are incorrect at least as far as Div II. Each parish in the Diocese of Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, etc, pay some tution of each parish student of their parish that attends Catholic schools, not against the rules. Otherwise, the cost would be too much for a great portion of the families attending. For the families part, they have to be members of the parish and contribute on Sunday. There is no rule against having a parental fund for public school students, but you don't really want to talk about that unless it involves athletics. I have been involved in private schools for many years and I don't have a clue as to what you are tallking about that is free. Nothing is free and the parents of the children pay 99% for everything. Of course I am only commenting on Catholic schools, the oldest school system in the country. I know you are speaking of a particular school that affects a rural area. What GCA should be forced to do is go into Div II where they belong. But I do offer one solution, if you competed more academically, I think many of the athletic problems would solve themselves. Many parents want their children to attend whatever school gives their children the best shot at a decent and good life. Not saying you can't have this attending a public school, you most certainly can, but the academic differences are sometimes outstanding. If I were you, I would see what I could do to bridge that gap. I am sure that you are a good and decent man. But many private school supporters get aggravated when anyone lumps all private schools as being the same, there are great differences. Ps, the rule is clear in Div I, if you give financial aid to a student, he cannot play athletics or maybe only on a JV level. Like I stated earlier, if financial aid is being given to athletes, then Div II should be in the future of any Div I private.
  11. Let me see "thinking someone is involved with the school", are you talking about yourself? Get off your high horse, because you have no dog in the hunt whatsoever. I have a suggestion for everyone who get confused in trying to figure out what you are saying on any topic or any board, they should put you on ignore. For the umpteenth time, this site is not Phil Hargis.com, thank God. For someone who claims to not read my posts, it is funny that you seem to comment on almost all of them.
  12. Ensworth won the State Championship last Friday night when they beat GPS. Like I told someone earlier, the win over GPS will be the closest of their 3 state tournament games. GPS was the only team that had a prayer of beating Ensworth. Unfortunately for GPS, they had to play Ensworth at Ensworth. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Ensworth win in the final by 20+, although they might get conservative in the 4th quarter with a solid lead in the teens and win by less than 20. EDIT: And don't let the 71-51 win over St. Benedict fool you...Ensworth was up 21-4 after the first quarter and up by 32 going in to the 4th quarter. St. Ben had 26 pts after 3 quarters before scoring 25 in the 4th. Stullstupid, cp7 per the tennessean "St. Benedict suffered a pair of key injuries when Rasie Turner and Julie Eckel left the game in the first quarter. St. Benedict Coach Don Sebren said his team had a tough time trying to match up with Carpenter, particularly without their usual depth." An ACL injury and a broken nose was the difference in the ball game. "Said" player for Ensworth threw a questionable (Brittany Griner) blow to the nose of St. Benedict player. Word is, that's not the first time "Said" player has thrown a blow during a game................ Freak ACL injury and the rout was on from there. No pain Stullstupid.......... Well, you did the stats like you said. I not sure why you digressed to name calling, but some folks just can't accept the truth. It did not matter whether they were 100% or not, Ensworth is the best team in Div II AA, hands down. You implied that St Benedict would win the state title and you call me stupid. And Hargis, why don't you go clean out the Seagull locker room.
  13. Ensworth thumps St Benedict by twenty. Hey Mo-Town, the pain is over. Lets see some stats, you said you would do them throughout state.

  15. Old Eagle, don't you have anything better to do than post rumors. Why don't you really juice it up and post about all the improper actions by some of your public schools in your area that you know about. And to answer your question about how long it took Rollred to think up that post, not long, you see, he was educated when he attended school.
  16. Predictions for Friday, first round of Div II AA girls. Ensworth by 14 over St Benedict. Briarcrest in a squeaker over JPII.
  17. Does that mean you will continue after St Benedict loses to Ensworth? Thats awful nice of you. The pain will be over Friday.
  18. If anyone has figured out this post, please post what it means.
  19. Knoxville Webb has less than 700 students in high school grades, probably less than 550, so what do you mean they should be in AA. And you should worry about them alot. They should be in AA. They have won 2 out of 3 state championships. Then they move down to A. Give me a break. They have 488 students. Thats just under the 500 to keep them in A. I don't see Ensworth moving down to A. They have 370 kids. So the rule should be broken as far as Knox Webb is concerned, but everybody else has to follow it. They are under the number of students required to be in Div II A. You have alot of company with your previous post, the rules are okay as long as I agree with them. There are alot of people in the world like you, thank God they don't make the rules.
  20. Knox Webb was probably in Div II AA for as long as there has been a Div II until they moved where they are now. I don't and many posters don't know what you are talking about concerning scholarship athletes. Div II gives need-based financial aid based on the parents incomes, bills, etc. If a alumni decides to pay for a particular student, then it is up to the honesty and integrity of any school to reject that offer. In other ways the public schools are accountable also, but still it comes down to honesty and integrity. Don't know what you mean by scholar athletes, but I am sure that Knox Webb has some very fine students on that team and throughout the entire school. Once again, need based financial aid is judged by the parents income and bills, etc, by a third party. As I posted earlier, Knox Webb should be feared the rest of the way, Butler has the most potential of any player in Div II A or AA. Big Kid, you stated the number of students FRA has, are you advocating a Div II Half A ?
  21. Knoxville Webb has less than 700 students in high school grades, probably less than 550, so what do you mean they should be in AA. And you should worry about them alot.
