  1. Good to see Waverly off to a fast start. Not sure they have really played any competition yet though. The Indians are in rebuilding mode and struggled with Sycamore. Should be a good series when the Indians and Tigers get together.
  2. I saw where Creek Wood beat Sycamore 12-1 and Waverly swept Cheatham County 11-0 & 2-1. Can anyone give me any details of these games?
  3. Very proud of the Harpeth Lady Indians this year. They were very young and overcame some injuries. This was definitely a rebuilding year and people had picked them as low as 6th in the district, but they found a way to finish as runner up and had a good showing against the best team from 12AA. They will be back next year in full force, but now let's concentrate on softball as we have a good opportunity to have a great year in softball.
  4. Good game by the boys and finding a way to get the win. Looking forward to hooking up with Bolivar. From other posts, the Waverly fans didn't come away that impressed with Bolivar so maybe the Indians can make up for last year's game in which we should have won. Good luck and play hard boys.
  5. Good post PapaTiger. I agree that our district can't compete with Bolivar this year or most years. I do think Harpeth, Sycamore and Creek Wood can compete with the other teams in District 12AA though. I only stayed for a little over halftime of the Waverly/Sycamore game, but really don't see what the big deal is. Sycamore only dresses 10 players and every player was rotating in. Also, Sycamore wasn't running a press, only picking up man to man at halfcourt. Waverly just couldn't handle the ball at all. Maybe if Waverly didn't come out and start pressing Sycamore in the second half they would have backed off a little. Did they think they were going to make up 50 points by pressing? Would have been nice if both teams would have settled back into zones, but Coach Froedden expects his players to play 110% all the time regardless of score. It was just one of those nights when one team was really on and the other was really off. Maybe Sycamore will be tired when they play the Indians in the championship. As for Waverly being young, it's not going to matter in regards to Sycamore or Harpeth, as both teams have young talent all the way back through the middle school. Harpeth has won 3 straight middle school TMSAA state championships.
  6. Good win for the Indians last night. There's a good chance the boys and girls championship trophies will be brought back to Harpeth. Should be an exciting finals against Sycamore. I guess I was way wrong about Sycamore overlooking and having trouble with Waverly. I left at halftime, but the first half Sycamore absolutely embarassed Waverly by 50 points. The Eagles played well, but my gosh I've never seen a team play as poorly as Waverly did. The Indians and War Eagles should continue their dominance for awhile as Harpeth middle school has won 3 straight TMMSAA championships and Sycamore is young as well. Good luck to all the teams, especially when regions begin.
  7. Definitely important to win tonight's game and be able to host a first round region game. Don't want to have to travel to Boliver for sure. Let's hope the Indians can take a lesson from the Lady Indians and come out ready to play tonight. Creek Wood will be a tough task, but I think the boys are ready. I also think Sycamore is overlooking Waverly and will have their hands full tonight.
  8. I tend to agree with UtVols04 statement. I think Harpeth and Creek Wood both played with much more intensity than Cheatham and Waverly did. Cheatham should have lost the game tonight as Waverly had the game won, but just couldn't finish the job. I credit that to Coach Carr as he seems to find a way to pull out games in the end. Waverly, with all their seniors and probably the best overall talent in the district, allows everyone else to play them close and then they just can't seem to find ways to win down the stretch. The Lady Indians still puzzle me with their play, very up and down. However, Coach Johnson had them ready to play and the girls were definitely focused, beating a very good Creek Wood team. I'll have to say I was suprised myself. I think they can go ahead and beat Cheatham to bring home a district championship. It wouldn't suprise me though with Creek Wood and Waverly finishing 3rd & 4th now for district 11AA to sweep all the 1st round region games. One or both of them will knock off a top seed from the other district. This week's winners could be next week's losers as it's anyones region to win. Good luck to all the teams!
  9. Just when I think the Lady Indians are done, they pull the upset over Cheatham. I'm through trying to figure out what is going to happen. It's going to be a great tournament and who knows what will happen. Here are my predictions though: my favorite now is Creek Wood, followed by Cheatham, Waverly and Harpeth in no particular order.
  10. Have to agree, it looks like Waverly is playing well now while the Lady Indians and Sycamore are starting to tumble. Harpeth needs to some how stay in the #3 seed or they won't even make it to the tournament. I can see Waverly winning at Sycamore and maybe even at Creek Wood to grab the #3 seed. However, if Waverly loses their next two and Sycamore wins out then Waverly would have to travel to Sycamore for the play in game. I don't think anyone wants to play Waverly at tournament time. Also, Stewart County could be a thorn in someone's side as well in a playin game. That's assuming Harpeth can at least win at Montgomery Central to grab the #3 seed, which I don't know if they can even do that now. I now think the tournament is going to be between Cheatham, Creek Wood and Waverly. Doesn't Waverly have a lot of seniors on this year's team? Should be a good final week of action.
  11. Fair enough and can see where you are coming from. I was mainly talking about last year losing to Boliver in a game Harpeth clearly should have won. I do believe we got outcoached in that game, but then again Rudisell out coaches a lot of coaches. This year, at times the team has looked horrendous. When a team continues to play lazy defense, selfish offense and are totally inconsistent; don't you think some of that has to lay with the coaching staff as well. I do agree with yours and the other post that an all star team from 11AA couldn't beat the Bolivers, Libertys, Giles Co. etc. Maybe they'll get it going come tournament time as the other district isn't that strong this year other than Boliver.
  12. Who did Waverly win two straight games against in the district? I know Harpeth beat them Friday. Did they play Saturday and Monday? I do think Waverly gets the win as they played a good game at Harpeth. Should be a good game to watch. Give us the details after the game.
  13. tough loss for the Lady Indians at Creek Wood. They played much better than they did the night before against Waverly. Girls race is very interesting with 6 teams capable of winning the tournament.
  14. The Indians blew a big lead against Waverly and were lucky to hold on for the win. Waverly outplayed them and deserved to win. Then the Indians don't learn their lesson and blow another big lead at Creek Wood, but this time aren't so lucky and end up with a loss. The Indians have not played up to their potential in several years. There is trouble there, but not sure what it is or who the blame should be laid on. But I see them collapsing come tournament time.
  15. Don't ever see Stewart County being able to beat Harpeth this season. The Indians were in total control of the game. I tend to agree with others that the Indians are relying too much on the perimeter game, which can disappear in some games. Probably would put Sycamore first, followed by Harpeth and Creek Wood. Any of those three can win the district championship. From there, Stewart County is dangerous because they do have some size in the middle and probably the best coaching staff. Waverly could also suprise a team in a play in game as they have already defeated Creek Wood. Fairview could also pull an early upset. I think the only for sure thing is Cheatham and Montgomery Central are weak. Big advantage to finish 1st or 2nd and have an easy play in game. Also agree with others in that this is the weakest the district has been in a very long time.
  16. Indians jumped out to a huge lead early and costed to an easy 59-30 victory at Waverly.
  17. Drove down to watch the game and although it might have been exciting because of the score of the game, it was one of the worst played games I've seen in a while. Both teams seemed to play hard, but just looked terrible at times. I bet Waverly had almost 40 turnovers. Some caused by defensive pressure, but a lot just by not being a very sound fundamental team. The Lady Indians weren't much better taking care of the ball and the technical foul almost cost them the game. Neither team shot the ball well at all. That being said, a big win on the road for the Lady Indians. Post player for Waverly played well. The Prince girl struggled some tonight, but you could tell she is an athlete. Does anyone know if she plays softball as well? I stick by my prediction that the tournament could be won by almost anyone
  18. Harpeth won at Waverly in overtime
  19. The Lady Indians are improving. It seems Waverly is playing people close, but just can't get over the hump and win down the stretch. I agree with Papa Tiger as far as the district goes everyone is pretty close and I think there are about 6 teams that could possibly win the tournament. Looking forward to seeing the freshman for Waverly play as people say she is pretty good. I think the game Tuesday is a toss up, but I'll say the Lady Indians in a close one.
  20. This may be the weakest this district has ever been. The bottom 4 teams in the district are absolutely horrible and there really isn't what I would consider a top caliber team in the district. There might be one team standing after the first night of the region, but most likely it's going to be all west Tennessee again. Why does it seem like we can't ever get a quality team from our district? I'm really disappointed in the Indians as I had high hopes for them, but they are really struggling.
  21. Perhaps the most embarassing display of basketball ever played by a Harpeth team as long as I can remember. For a team that had some lofty goals, this is totally unacceptable. Trying to think when the last time the Indians actually played to their full potential. It seems every year we are talking about how good the team can be, but then the Indians keep falling on their face. Should have beaten Bolivar last year, but just choked the game away while getting completely outcoached as well. How bad is our district? Our top two teams lose by a combined 73 points last night.
  22. Still waiting on the Indians to come together and gel. So far I've been somewhat disappointed.
  23. Does anyone know if the two starters for Dickson that didn't play against Waverly play against Harpeth? I think the district race could be interesting, with several teams capable of pulling upsets or beating each other. Stewart County will only get better. Will hold judgement on Waverly until Lady Indians play them, but I know they have a ton of seniors who have played together forever. Creek Wood and Cheatham County may be the cream of the crop, but Lady Indians will keep getting better as well. I
  24. I can't believe some of you think the Indians will drop to the bottom. Will still be in the top 4 at worst, finding a way to win. Cheatham and Creek Wood will be tough, Sycamore will also be good. Waverly could be the real suprise as they have everyone coming back. Should be a very competitive district race this season.
  25. Sorry, but i just don't see the Bulldogs being that good this year.
