  1. When is the make-up match?
  2. Was Maryville not involved? Who beat them?
  3. Got it now, thanks. Just a server issue.
  4. I found it and I was able to get some access. However, it keeps timing me out when i try to view results. Probably a problem with my server???
  5. Just wondering if you can view results of other duals on the NWCA site? If so, how do you do it?
  6. ghouse, I appreciate your explanations and clarity. I was referring to "dedicated" as in coaching at the feeder schools. I am very dedicated by both definitions which is why we have an aau program and an up and coming high school program. My suggestion did not reduce the number of classes, but redistribute them to possibly reduce the number of forfeits. It might even push for kids to stay "closer" to their natural weight. Again this is just my observation of more than 50% forfeits at 103. I want the sport to grow as much or more than most as you would see by my efforts in my county(which only has one other trained coach). Hope that clears it up a little. I'll take my thumb off the nerve now /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Thanks for the banter.
  7. Wow ghouse Didn't mean to touch a nerve. Out of 24 teams we haved wrestled, more than 12 did not have a 103. In three 16-team tournaments, there were at most seven 103s. I am stating my opinion due to these observations. I do not have the advantage of having middle schools or anyone to coach them. I have an AAU program that I run but it is a crap shoot getting future 9th graders that will still be at 103 in high school. I'm I wrong in saying that usually those with multiple 103s have large feeders with a dedicated coach? We all can't be so lucky.
  8. I hit up every kid in our hallways that weighs less than 110 and still could not get a 103 and I am a well liked coach at my school. Most teams that have a 103, he had to cut weight. I say drop 103 and add either 180 or 235.
  9. Any match by match results on this one?
  10. Jakesdad, It was not a trap. I applaud you for seeing the point that it is not possible to do it under "fair" criteria. I have read other posts that that usually cater to one group or another or don't offer a feasible or reasonable way to determine who gets to advance. My opinion goes back to the original purpose of regions, which obviously was not followed in the new classification. That is geographical regions. Shouldn't regions be determined by location, number of teams in area, and travel only? Is that pretty much the definition of region? I know it doesn't always seem fair, but isn't it the only unbias solution?
  11. Jakesdad and maj, I think most people understand that leaving very good teams at home stinks. However, you haven't suggested any concrete or feasible solutions, just complaints. Once again, solutions have to be fair across the board. The new region set-up is definitely strange, but you can't set up regions according to team strength on a year to year basis. Give us new solutions that are feasible across the board concerning travel, timeline, determining who gets to go, etc.
  12. Stone Memorial will be returning again this year. They were not listed.
  13. Why don't we take the top 4 teams from Region 3 and the top four teams from Region 4 and top one team from all the others? Hmmm....sarcasm. A solution that caters to the current strong teams will never be a real solution.
  14. Since I don't have extra coaches, I am starting the girls team on Jan 5. We will see what happens then.
  15. JakesDad Would you have the districts change every time the strength of teams changed? Classifications are supposed to be geographical. What is your state wide proposal rather than just looking at one district? How do you know they are not going to take the best two from two districts together?
  16. Does anyone know what the TSSAA plans on doing with Regions for the next cycle? Specifically Region 2?
  17. AAU State results have finally been posted at seaausports.com.
  18. Please be more specific and don't generalize. A podium and pictures were utilized for the AAU PeeWee State Tournament at Stone Memorial High School. I have asked the SEAAU to posted the results as well. I believe they have been caught up in preparing for the national tournaments.
  19. After you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable
  20. Kev-o, obviously you have not had a girl in the practice room. I have had girls practicing off and on for ten years. If you treat them like a wrestler, they will act like one and the boys will treat them like one. Managers are much more of a distraction than female wrestlers. If they are not there just to be a champion, they will quit.
  21. Apparently I have a dead boy walking too. He measured at 1.8%BF
  22. With the exception of Bradley and Soddy, the strength of most teams fluctuate a lot. Would you move around which region got a 4th. Another tournament is not logistically feasible. How could a Region with 25 teams not deserve 4 or more places? I have been in Region 3 and Region 2. While Region 2 does not have a Bradley or Soddy, it has twice the number of better than average teams making for a brutal region tournament. I thought Region 2 didn't deserve 4 places until I coached in that tournament. Maybe some regions only deserve two places but how do you decide that and remain fair.
  23. I haven't seen staph in wrestling in over ten years. Has anyone seen cases in wrestling? I have also heard of more in football than anywhere else. I doubt pads get disenfected enough.
