  1. I was. I thought Shelbyville looked very young but talented. Richards hits four nice three's in the 4th quarter. Sevier County really struggled with the press.
  2. Yes. He's a fine ballplayer and getting better all the time.
  3. We play Wednesday night at 6. If we win, we play Friday night at 7. If we lose, we will play twice on Saturday.
  4. I think that he plays for Patterson Prep and I don't think he will be playing in this tournament. He was a senior last year at Tucker HS in Georgia. I think his high school eligibility is up and he is getting his grades in order so that he can enroll at UT. I don't know how he would be allowed to play in this tournament. He has already graduated high school, or at the very least, he has exhausted his high school eligibilty.
  5. We have the jamboree Tuesday night. Then, next week we are in Greeneville on Monday and Wednesday. Check out the schedule on this site.
  6. Yes, that was me. I have pretty good control. The two words that got me the technical were "hand check." It's not like I was dogcussing the ref. I did not think that it was a good call then, and I still don't. The funny thing about the call is that the ref, in fact, called the hand check after I yelled it, then turned around and hit me with the technical. I'm not the only person who thinks it was a bad call. I've actually talked to that referee a couple of times as he works downtown and we get along fine. I think it is funny that you (whoever you are) would bring that up. We made it substate last year, so thankfully that technical did not ruin our season. Also, the technical was in the middle of the third quarter. Just to clarify.
  7. Chattanoogan.com report said that Cruze was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. I hope that he is okay, we are looking forward to him getting on the hard wood.
  8. Don't know how I forgot about Gary Cooper.
  9. hhsbball12: There is a rumor that Sharpe's girlfriend died in an auto accident today. Is that true? If it is, she is a Powell High grad and my heart and thoughts go out to her family and Cam.
  10. I think the only starter being replaced at Halls is Graham Benson (sp?) My guess is that they start Sharpe, Segers, Varner and Cantrell. I don't know who the fifth starter will be. JJ Cooper will be a dangerous player if he improved his ball handling over the summer. He is very good as a spotup shooter.
  11. That is laughable. I'm not Isaac Conner. He's a lawyer in Nashville and only coached one weekend when the other coach was out of town. He's not a volunteer coach. I am. I was in the stands and the Catholic's players gave as well as they got. Near the end of the game, it was a Catholic player clapping in Hargis' face. And no, I don't coach in the Fall League. So, sorry to disappoint you, no violations. As for our players, I will admit that they play very agressively and sometimes get close to "the line". I can't really do much about in Fall League, but it is something that we keep an eye on. You will get more chances to watch our team in person this year. Maybe you can come and introduce yourself to me so that we can discuss basketball. I've been wanting to meet you for quite a while.
  12. IrishBball: How about you keep Hargis' name out of your mouth. I don't like people who pretend to be coaches talking crap on the internet about my players. I don't get on here and talk about Catholic's players, so how about just shutting up?
  13. Putting down that game against Shelbyville was an honest mistake on my part. I misread the schedule and thought we automatically played Shelbyville in the second round. By the time I realized the goof, I could not undo it. Maybe Coacht can fix the schedule. I don't know the kids from West Greene and have no idea whether they are good or not. We beat them handily last year, but much can change in a year. I intended no disrespect to them. You really ought to leave Smith out of this. He is not on the team anymore and we wish him well. We run a VERY classy basketball program at Powell. Coach Ogan is one of the more well-respected coaches in the area. Maybe you should stop taking cheap shots at us on this board.
  14. LOL. Hey Mr. 4.0, If you are going to call somebody gay by saying "your gay," you ought to know that the correct spelling is "you're gay". Better pay more attenion in English class.
  15. Mr. Freeze: Thanks for the bulletin board material. I will make sure that our guys see that before the game.
  16. Farragut probably had the best JV team I've ever seen last year. They are going to be VERY good now and next year.
  17. Mr. Freeze: Do you have a tournament bracket yet? Thanks!
  18. Rob: We had what I would call a darn good summer. Some of our players really changed their bodies. Conner, Gordon, Seymore, both Hansens all really had good summers. Hargis' game continues to evolve as well. No one had a bad summer. No one. We will be one of the best teams in this area this year barring any major injuries. Ogan is so fired up about this season, maybe more than any that I can remember. We have an awesome group of kids. We may be adding one as well. Rob: We had what I would call a darn good summer. 19. I normally don't post because I help coach at Powell, but our coaches and players have nothing but the utmost respect for Halls. Halls has not underachieved and they have taken it to us several times the past two years. Those guys are great competitors and it is all-out war when these teams play. In the District Championship last year, we played the perfect game. It could have gone the other way on a different night. I relish this rivalry and don't like to see disrespect, especially coming from our side.
  20. HTV: I got some interesting news on the QB yesterday. I will poke my head in tonight as well.
  21. You'd rather have Coleman at QB than Ainge?
  22. You seem to be suffering from Panther envy. It seems a little early in the season to be judging a team or first-year coach. I thought Powell showed pretty well and will be a tough team to beat when they don't beat themselves.
  23. I was impressed with Webb. Not too many mistakes from those boys. I thought Powell showed that it had more talent and consistently moved the ball, but Webb would create a timely turnover and despite not moving the ball much, they popped two big plays, one pass and one run. Overall, great football game. I think both schools have a lot to look forward to this year.
  24. I would rather not say about the game films as the coaches asked us to keep that secret. Smith is an exceptional basketball player. As a result of the trap, Smith spent too much time in the high post rather than the low block. The trap was really good. We might steal it for next year!!!!
