  1. Alright guys...I have went 4 pages back in this forum and deleted everyone of my threads that had anything to do with a Giles County player. If I missed one, let me know. I was under the impression that this site and especially this forum was designed for High School Basketball fans, players, coaches, etc. to critique their favorite team...either good or bad. I must have been wrong. I never said anything personally toward Zach, I just stated my opinion and they were just that...my opinions. If I had been alone in my thinking, it wouldn't have mattered...they would have still been my opinions. You guys get on here and analyze every post and the one guy went as far as calling calling Glyndon and myself out of every other Giles County fan that posts on here well, that was like the POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. I am a graduate of Giles County High...I follow the basketball program very closely and I know what happens when talent is wasted...everyone ends up on the losing end. If you guys are familiar with Giles County basketball you know what I am talking about. As for Zach...the kid is talented...no one will argue that. He fits in with the Giles County team very well. My statements in the other threads were simply saying that everyone struggles, but it is during that time of struggle, that someone else has to step up and take that role on. Coffey has done that for Giles County, but it doesn't seem to be enough and that is the real sad part. I am not in any way taking anything away from Zach...he just seems to be in a lull...maybe it is just me or maybe that is what the coaching staff wants him to do. If the latter is the case, then someone needs to step back and re-examine the situation. I had also said in some of the previous threads that Tyler Smith was slacking on both ends...no one would argue that point. Likewise...I have praised Zach in many of my post but I guess you guys failed to read those post. You might ought to find them and read them and then come back and talk to me. Until that point, I am done with this site and with you guys...opinions are no longer welcome if they aren't in the interest of everyone that reads them...am I right.
  2. WesVols, that is a very good point. To Giles County fans, that was just another night. We are accustomed to watching them struggle in the first half and then come out in the 3rd quarter and play like a different team. That is how they play night in and night out. I have not watched Brentwood play since last year in the BORO, so I don't know their style of play. From my understanding, they made some mistakes as all young players do and they tended to get away from what had gotten them to their big leads...Brandon Wright...with a little help. In my opinion...and nothing to do with the score, Giles County had a little advantage...maybe due to the experience of their players in high profile games or maybe not, but they played ball the way they play every night and it produced another win.
  3. Sounds like a heck of a game...I hate I missed it. Sounds like Brandon and Tyler put on a heck of a show.
  4. That is ridiculous...Bolivar is my pick to win 2A this year...hands down. Giles County is in the process of getting beat by Brentwood..
  5. If he is doing so well on defense, what are the rest of his teammates doing...can't anyone score??? Man...I wish I was there...
  6. Wow...that isn't looking good. What is going on with the CATZ???
  7. Maybe it won't...LOL. I would love to be there...instead of sitting in class learning stuff that I already know.
  8. Wow...I didn't know it was going to be a one on one contest between Brandon Wright and Tyler Smith...LOL. From the article on the home page, there will be no other players playing tonight...I guess Coach Holt won't have to worry about his sub'ing...LOL. These writers crack me up.
  9. Well said Glyndon...I am done with this thread. I have made my point and I am moving on...LIKE BIG BOYS DO!!!!! Thanks for the humor UMP...you kept me laughing all day long.
  10. Ump...that is fair enough; however, if you would look at other threads, you would see that I give praise to Giles County players including Zach Holt. On the other hand, I do often criticize their game. For instance, when Justin Morris was slouching on the boards...I pointed that out. When Tyler Smith slacked on defense and was snowbirding all the time...I commented on that. My opinions are just that...my opinions. I don't see any one player getting criticized any more than another player. In fact, if you will go back to the beginning of the season, there was an entire thread complimenting Zach Holt on his game against Lawrence County. I was one of the first to post on that thread about how well Zach played. It just seems that he is slacking a little bit, maybe because he is getting bored playing these weak district teams, but that is no excuse not to give your all. Until he plays ball the way he did those first 3 or 4 games, Coffey is my man...why wouldn't he be...he can do it all.
  11. It is about time Glyndon...you CLOWN...LOL. I thought I was all alone...tear...tear.
  12. I agree Tcross. I don't recall seeing him throw an oop at any point this year. I do remember however, Givens throwing one from half court agains Bradley. Dunks don't really matter, but the oop is also a part of court vision or lack thereof.
  13. Giles County is overrated. Gomab ranked them #8 in his latest 2A poll...thats not overrated... As for them not being as good as they were last year...you are right...they are BETTER. They have two losses to Bradley Central...speaks for itself. The tournament in H'ville was stacked. I believe GC is playing better teams than last year...thus the reason for the 5 losses...Giles wins this game by 10.
  14. Aight...now you have done it. I was a huge fan of Holt when I first watched him play in the last scrim., the L'burg game, and the H'ville tournament. After that tournament, he has not been so impressive and Coffey is improving every game. If you take the time and go back and look at some of my previous post about Giles County, you will see that I did and do think Holt is a good player, but at this point, Coffey is the better player all around. It has nothing to do with where the kid is from, as long as he gets the job done. Shay Shannon transferred from Ardmore his sophmore year...so that blows your geographical discrimination point right out of the water...come back when you know what you are talking about CLOWN...GET YOUR LITTLE PINK PANTIES OUT OF A BUNCH...it is all about the Gold Ball and who will help us get that. P.S. In the substate, if we are lucky enough...LOL to get to face Bolivar again, Willie Kemp will take Holt to the ringer...every time...yes he will probably beat Coffey too, but Coffey will be able to counter the attack on the offensive end.
  15. Wow...Ump, it appears that no Giles County fan is going to agree with you, so that makes you the a** clown. You need to get a clue. Zach Holt can not hold a light to Channing Coffey in any aspect of the game. Channing will out play him on defense, out rebound him, and outscore him, all from the point position. Why is he not starting, well, that is up to the coach. Many GC fans will tell you that Coffey could be or is the 2nd best, all around player on the team. I think in just about every game but the Lawrenceburg game, Coffey has had more points than Holt...and he came off of the bench. UMP, you starting a thread like this and then getting no one to agree with you only makes you look like the idiot that knows jack about basketball. Maybe you should leave the forum and find a new website focusing on BS...you could be the star of that forum...now that is some advice you should use.
  16. First let me start by saying that Channing Coffey is going to be a major force to be reckoned with. It is not very often that Gomab has some praise to give out to Giles County, but he did in this case. Coffey has great potential. At 6'4", he has great leaping ability and a sweet touch. Oh and he can even rebound. I disagree with the point made earlier that Givens should be running the point. That would be taking the best rebounder on the team and forcing him to cover down the floor instead of focusing on getting in the paint and grabbing boards. I guess the unfortunate thing about this years team, is that there is so much talent on the bench...someone is going to be left out...OR NOT. White Station has no true standout, yet they have managed to win the last 3 of 4, 3A Championships. They have accomplished this by playing unselfish team ball...ball that is not focused on stats, but focused on winning. Coffey, Carter, Perry, & Garrett could be used in so many situations that would benefit Giles County. Now is the time to exploit those situations and get these guys involved. As for Wade and the rest of the GCHS student cheering section. I don't know what to say. Student support is critical to the game, ask any of the players. They get pumped when they come onto the floor and there are a 100 or so, he** raising students ready to get CRUNK with them. As many coaches will tell their teams in the heat of battle...PLAY OUR GAME...everything will fall in place...Wade, don't let anyone stop you guys from doing what you do best...GETTING IN THE HEADS OF THE OPPONENTS AND PUMPING UP YOUR TEAM. Keep it respectable and great things are going to happen in that student section...
  17. Wade, it is a good thing I am not a student anymore...that is just ridiculous. The point of the game is to make noise...not wear suits and ties and play quite mouse. Come on Mrs. Braden...get a CLUE. As for players stepping up off of the bench...it is about time. We all know what Channing is capable of and how he can help this team get back to the 'BORO' this year. There are other key players...Perry, Garrett, Carter, & Phillips (big body) that need to also get some real playing time and prepare them for what is to come. Last night was definately a bright spot for GC fans...I wish I could have seen it.
  18. Giles County defeated Lee High School by a score of 77-55. Shay Shannon did not play, but there was an unsung hero of the game that showed his leadership ability just like everyone of GC's fans knew he would when he got the chance. Channing Coffey had 19 pts. to lead all scorers...yes he even led Tyler Smith, who had 18. Giles had 36 rebounds to Lee's 23 and they shot around 65% from the line. This is the Giles County team that I remember. When one starter goes down, someone like Channing can step up and more than take over the role. I still stand by my statement that Channing is the 2nd best player on the GC roster and will make a real name for himself down the stretch this year and definately next year...mark my words.
  19. Your team stinks...really. They have a two game lead...LOL...LOL...In what...Water Polo...Under Water Basket Weaving...Floor Exercises. You never cease to amaze me. You guys have played 3 teams with a winning record...yeah...you guys are AWESOME....woohoo...keep up the good work and you guys can pass out water to Giles County in the Sub-state. Call me what you want...but your posts prove the name we have given you...IDIOT.
  20. Wow, it is nice to see Butters is back...where have you been. I sure have missed your totally useless and stupid post. Don't be a stranger to the boards...you crack me up.
  21. Does anyone have any predictions on the game? Will Brandon Wright and Tyler Smith step up for their respective teams? I am going to miss the game, but I say Giles County will come away with a 5 pt. win...Givens proved he could step up the other night and score 15...same for Coffey. I don't think BA will have an answer for them. If Shay makes an appearance, well, that is just one more player that can flat shoot the lights out.
  22. T Smith can throw down with the best of them...I remember the dunk against Loretto...amazing.
  23. If we posted every bad call in every game, we would be here for a while. I just posted a little taste of what the officiating is like in Southern Middle TN.
  24. Gordon, Smith, Coffey (Giles County), Delks...
