  1. From what I have been told, Channing has the flu and Shay is going to try to finish out the tournament and then take a couple of weeks off. This is just hear say, so if anyone else knows something, lets hear it.
  2. Clay, I had no luck with it. I finally gave up, that whole site is royally screwed up. It looks like since so many of the teams came from so far away, they could at least make sure those fans that were unable to attend could hear the game through the site...and for that matter view the game stats...
  3. Excellent post Clay. Giles County does have the talent to get to the big show and possibly bring home the hardware. This season depends on a little bit more than luck. Bolivar, SouthSide, & Raleigh Egypt are all more talented that last year...more talented than GC...probably not, but they do have something going for them, that Giles doesn't....think hard and you will know what I am talking about. Many times, this one factor can decide the outcome of the big games...look at the Bradley Central game. Lets hope this little issue corrects itself. As for Twhoops, he is loyal to his Memphis teams...I don't knock him for that. Entitling the thread the way you did, Twhoops, was a little uncalled for and as for calling people idiots...come on man...is that what your $12 got you...the right to call people names....NOPE!!!!!!!! I have not had the privilage to see many Memphis teams play...Substate and state last year...their style of basketball is fun to watch. Those coaches can take all of the talent in that area and harness it into a well coached, unbeatable team (White Station) and do great things. So Twhoops, when you spout off all of those stats like Bolivar losing to White Station by 7...and so forth...state all of the facts. Raleigh Egypt played White Station within 2 pts and then lost to Bolivar by 16. This goes back to any team can be beaten on any given night...remember last year...the almighty and unbeatable Ridgeway. I guess what I am trying to say, is that we really don't care what you (Twhoops) thinks or says. As for me, I will never reply to one of your posts as long as it is relating to Giles County...
  4. Boy wouldn't that be something, but Giles County will have too very tough days ahead of them before they get to that point. There is no doubt, Deron is a talented ball player...I hear it from a lot of people and I can see it when he gets on the floor; however, there has been some question with his attitude...I have not seen it first hand. I think a little attitude is needed to be an aggressive and effective player...you have to think that no one can stop you; however, that can quickly get out of hand when you start thinking that your team cant win without you...lets hope Deron doesn't not fall into the later. Giles County is going to need another star or two in the next couple of years...
  5. GCHS05...I couldn't agree more. I just hope that Deron isn't overwhelmed with the atmosphere when he gets into the games...if he gets in. You know, all of those blow out games...Loretto, Lewis, Spring Hill, Fairview...that was the time to mix and match the players from the bench with your starters...not in a big time tournament, where you are trying to make a name for yourself among the elite basketball programs. Teams like White Station live and die by their bench...playing a legit 10 or 11 deep every night; thus, the reason they can run teams to death.
  6. Well, this tournament is sure to do one thing for Giles County...force them to find someone besides Channing Coffey to go to off of the bench. With Shay being somewhat injured, he will probably see limited action...Channing isn't there, so who is going to be the factor, besides Tyler Smith. This will also be an important factor to begin the regular season after the Christmas break. If Shay sits out for two weeks, he will miss the Lee game as well as the Brentwood game. Channing will more than likely step into the starting five, but that takes away Giles County's sixth man and only bench player who has logged considerable minutes. WOW, if I recall, one of the threads a couple of weeks ago shifted to the topic of Coach Holt not using enough subs or at least getting some subs into the game with his starters...now, it appears that there is no alternative. Someone from the bench is going to have to step up...WHO WILL IT BE. Also, what impact will these next couple of weeks have on the CATZ season...maybe make them stronger, or self destruct with one of the key leaders out???
  7. OH MY...let me retract all of my previous statements about Bradley being the best this year...there is no way they could possibly handle White Station...end of story.
  8. Very good point, WaCoJaCo. They would probably hurt the tournament more than help it. The only team that could possible compete with Oak Hill would be White Station and they probably couldn't keep it within 20. Also, out of all the teams that played yesterday, who looked the most impressive (from the people that attended).
  9. That is a good post TWHOOPS...I had to double check the score to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.
  10. audio works great for me...video doesn't work at all well, spoke too soon
  11. Wade...you know, running screens isn't Giles County's form of basketball. If it isn't playgound ball, they want no part of it...LOL. That is what they are good at, but I agree, Tyler and Shay need more open looks from outside...free things up for Justin down low.
  12. Wow...does that mean if I gain 40 pounds and get as much muscle as Labron, then I can play in the NBA...that is what you are saying, right? I guess talent has nothing to do with it. Look at Kobe Bryant...Labron has more muscle than him, so I guess that means Kobe isn't as good. Give me a break...and get a clue.
  13. I meant, if Giles County plays as good as they did against Bradley...that it could get worse.
  14. Giles by 10. Brandon Wright will get his points, it is up to our guards to shut down Josh Bone. Tyler will need a big game with 25+ points. Shay will need about 15 as will Kash. J-mo must crash the boards and be aggressive with Wright. He needs to alter some of BA's shots. Zach Holt must play tenacious D and create some fast break oppurtunities for Giles County. If everything falls into place, 10 points sould be no problem. If Giles plays like they did against Bradley, it could get worse. This is just my opinion. I hate that I will miss the fist meeting.
  15. Thanx...I figured our great paper was wrong...as usual.
  16. Play2Win...Coffey did come across half court and slip a couple of times, which resulted in turnovers. I don't believe this is of any fault of his. 99.9% of the time, he has no problems knowing what he is supposed to do.
  17. This link should get you what you need http://ths.btcs.org/arbysclassic/
  18. You know, I really don't care who is the best in 3A, so I am going to quit posting...you guys see these teams night in and night out, so you know.
  19. Well said Wade...with the games that GC is playing they can't help but get stronger down the stretch. All I am saying is that if they are to compete with teams like Bolivar & Raleigh Egypt...who face teams like Giles County night in and night out, someone has to step up off of the bench. Travis Gentry gave Coach Holt a lot of useful minutes throughout the season and he could have very well been the star on most teams; however, we have yet to see a player like that this season. Coffey has probably got more talent and maybe more athletic ability than Gentry, but he needs some key playing time. Also, I was looking a wksr.com and they have Lee High School coming to Pulaski on January 2nd...is that correct???
  20. Jumpshot...Ridgeway couldn't even take care of little ole Giles County last year, what makes you think they can compete with the likes of teams like White Station, North Side, & Bradley. Jackson has already beaten them twice. I can't believe it has taken this long for all of the Memphis talk to come about and we were doing so good. Truth of the matter is, the Memphis teams are loaded with talent, but they beat each other around, night in and night out, and when a refreshed team comes around, they have a hard time hanging around. We heard the same talk last year...the only team that could back up your talk was White Station...and they could possibly do it again this year, if they bring their A game when they play Bradley...because that is the only way they will win.
  21. Well said Clay. Sooner or later, this is going to come back and bite Coach Holt in the rear end. When they meet teams like Raleigh Egypt and Bolivar that go a legit 8 or 9 deep, they are going to be in serious trouble. All of the starters were dragging in the 4th quarter of Bradley game because they had played 28+ minutes. Bradley went 6 or 7 deep and still looked pretty fresh in the 4th quarter when they went on the run...that was the difference in the game to me...
  22. White Station is ranked #1 in the state...being the best...well, we won't know that until they face off with Bradley Central. Opperman, I hope you went back and read my last post this afternoon in the other thread. I meant no disrespect, but you can't judge any team by the figures that you threw out. I agree, White Station should be ranked #1 until Bradley can prove different...if they can prove different. However, I think things could go a little different this year. As for Giles County...I don't think anyone will overlook them. They are very talented and could be very deep...if given a chance. They start, in my opinion, the second best player on the team, on the bench. Shannon can shoot lights out, but Coffey is an all around baller...he rebounds, blocks shots, shoots the jumper pretty well, and yeah, he can jam with the best of them. Look for GC to turn many heads again this year, with what I believe is a more talented team than last year.
  23. Clay...most of the time, I agree with you and your posts, but this time is different. Coach Holt left Tyler in the Loretto game for one reason and one reason only....to pad his stats. The kid had already reaggrevated his ankle in the first quarter...why let him take a chance on really injuring it against a team like that. In the Father Ryan game...common sense told Holt to get Smith out of the game...they played Bradley on Saturday. As for the bench players, I think everone in Giles County agrees on that...let them play...they are good enough to beat any team in the district.
  24. Glyndon...I am glad someone else remembers that team. They were completely loaded with talent...even more so than last years and even this years team. However, they were out coached in the finals by Sweetwater. Doesn't that strike you as being odd. They were out coached then...they have been out coached three times this year. For the sake of basketball in Giles County, these young kids on the bench need some crucial playing time, so they are ready to be the leaders next year. If they screw up...chew'em out...it will only make them stronger and respect you more. Don't sit them on the bench for the rest of the game...that doesn't team them anything. In fact, it may make them mess up more...trying to perform so flawlessly. Giles is loaded with talent...but will it get the chance to shine...only time will tell.
  25. THS...really...I have to agree with mnewballer...Pickel is no joke. I don't doubt that you guys are a really strong team, but it is going to take 32 minutes of nearly flawless basketball to beat them. I hope you guys can pull it off and be the first team and maybe the only team in TN to beat Bradley this year. I know...I know...they will probably have to meet White Station in the state, but Bradley is quite possibly talented enough to pull the upset against White Station.
