  1. Spring Fling requires far more fields and Rutherford County won the bid, not Davidson County
  2. Alabama just has 2 out of 3 each step of the way....
  3. Since Bonnaroo started, Binns Jordan always invited me to come hang out with him there. I always had summer ball to be at. I love music. I love baseball more. But I loved Binns even more and wish I had known what I know now because I never got the chance to go there with him. I miss him...
  4. TSSAA to release class recommendations Thursday http://www.dnj.com/story/sports/high-school/2016/06/07/tssaa-release-class-recommendations-thursday/85545856/ As you probably know, I have been trying to get our high school baseball post-season changed for almost two decades now. I hate one-and-done in baseball. I hate that one big arm (if you can get out ofthe district) can get you to the state tournament. I really hate that the big arm throws in the district tournament, then on Monday, then Friday, the Tuesday and then Friday again (see Brian Morris, Will Crowe a long list of others). Baseball is a team sport. Football has one QB and basketball has one Point Guard but baseball is a test of a pitching staff, not one pitcher. I have a hunch you agree with me on that. Now I am told re-classification may come into play. I was asked to investigate how that may impact baseball and I was asked to come up with a tentative plan. I was also told the real question is basketball. I was also told that the number of teams getting to basketball and Spring Fling needs to be cut to four. I wonder how the reduction in teams may impact the Chamber of Commerce bids in the future. I think I have come up with a way to keep eight teams coming to Murfreesboro in basketball and baseball. Basketball. Right now the boys always wait a week for the girls to finish and the tourrnament stretches from Wednesday to Saturday. My idea (epiphany - lol!). One week is girls and boys A and AAA - the following week is AA and AAA (and we can rotate girls and boys and classifications from year to year) Monday - Girls 10:00, 11:30, 1:00, 2:30, 4:00, 5:30, 7:00 and 8:30 - First Round A and AAA games Tuesday - Girls 2:00, 3:30, 5:00 and 6:30 - Semifinals A and AAA games Wednesday - Girls 7:00 and 8:30 - A and AAA Championship Games Repeat for Thursday, Friday and Saturday for A and AAA Boys Next week same schedule just AA and AAAA 8 teams - 4 classes - Chamber of Commerce is happy Plan B - days off Girls Tuesday - 8 games 10:00 to 8:30 A and AAA First Round Wednesday - 8 games 10 to 8:30 - AA and AAAA First Round Thursday - 4 games 1:30 to 7:00 A and AAA Semifinals Friday - 4 games 1:30 to 7:00 AA and AAAA Semifnals Saturday - 4 games 1:30 to 7:00 Four Championship Games Next week - Boys Baseball? Region Tournament - 4 teams - example this year 7AAA and 8AAA Even year - so at Lincoln County Game 1 Friday 5:00 Stewarts Creek vs Lincoln Co Game 2 Friday 7:30 Columbia vs Siegel Game 3 Saturday 10:00 Loser G1 vs Loser G2 Game 4 Saturday 1:00 Winner G1 vs Winner G2 - Winner Hosts Substate Game 5 Saturday 4:00 Winner G3 vs Loser G4 - Winner Travels to Substate Friday/Saturday - Substate (2 out of 3) - Winner to Spring Fling
  5. Information about the upcoming game was on the Welcome Page of the Football site until I got home from the game and removed it and added the article about the game in its place. Details on how to sign up were there. When the game was being played was there. I assumed you had read that since you mentioned your son could not get leave to play in it. My contact info is on the website as well. I had also placed the information on the arrowsup.org site I am working to get ready this summer and it sent out a tweet. You seem to be the only one who didn't get 'the news' on it. I am truly sorry you didn't. Riverdale folks were there in force so we must have done a pretty good job getting the news out to everyone but you. The decision was made early Saturday morning to play it as planned so I didn't see any need to change anything since the information was already there. To date you seem to be the only $10 we didn't make. I will leave you on this. I will continue to 'get the word out' the best way I can, using the best tools I have at my disposal. If you don't use twitter, I am afraid you are being left behind.
  6. The new site is still under construction. I am the contractor
  7. We announced it in March http://www.dnj.com/search/alumni%20game/ Players had been practicing for months. The DNJ ran several articles on it as you can see above. A link was on the http://www.riverdalewarriors.com/football/ page since March. I tweeted updates. Rosters were not available until game day. We obviously did a pretty good job promoting it since all the pre-sale locations sold out and there was a line at the ticket booth well after the game started and before it started raining it was almost standing room only. Everyone seemed to have a great time! check out Tom Kreager's tweets @kreager or mine @rhs_sid and @rhs_sports for coverage of the game as well as our new website http://arrowsup.org/ By the way, you seemed to know about this since you started this thread :thumb:

  15. Every seed means something - so every regular season games mean something....
  16. The next line you refer to is if it is the SECOND Play - i.e. runners on first and second - ground ball to 3B - he tags third - that is FIRST Play - then throws wild to first - that is the SECOND play - that is when the 'next line' you refer to comes into play. The FIRST bad throw by an infielder that is the FIRST PLAY is 2 bases from TIME OF PITCH....
  17. No, it is not. Check out award table posted previously - it is 2 bases from time of PITCH - regardless of where runners are AT. It is where they were at TIME OF PITCH. .... I will repost: BASERUNNING AWARDS TABLE: TWO BASES (batter and runners): First throw by infielder and ball goes out of play or lodged in or under fence - from time of PITCH (i.e. where runners and batter were at when pitcher released the ball from the rubber)

  20. Standings: http://www.riverdalewarriors.com/baseball/images/2016/standings.pdf Siegel's Magic # is 1 Last series of the season: Smyrna (5-10) vs Siegel (12-2) Blackman (10-5) vs Lavergne (0-15) Oakland (8-7) vs Riverdale (7-8) Idle: Stewarts Creek (12-6) Siegel has the tie-breaker over Stewarts Creek A Siegel win or a Blackman loss clinches district regular season title for Siegel, district tournament host and automatic berth to the region. If Blackman sweeps Lavergne and Siegel is not swept by Smyrna, Blackman will finish second and Stewarts Creek will finish third. Winner of Oakland-Riverdale series will finish fourth. If Oakland sweeps Riverdale and Smyrna sweeps Siegel then Smyrna finishes fifth and Riverdale finishes 6th. Lavergne finishes 7th.

    7-AAA 2016

Thank you for doing this. Come by and say hi one day....
  24. http://www.riverdalewarriors.com/baseball/images/2016/standings.pdf Week 6 Series: Oakland (8-4) vs Blackman (7-5) Riverdale (4-8) vs Lavergne (0-12) Smyrna (4-8) vs Stewarts Creek (10-5) Scenarios: Siegel's magic number is 2 IF Oakland wins out and IF Siegel loses 2-3 to Smyrna in week 7 Oakland is district champion, gets the automatic berth to the region and hosts the tournament. Best Stewarts Creek can finish is 13-5 IF they sweep Smyrna. Siegel has the tie-breaker over Stewarts Creek and Oakland. Stewarts Creek needs to sweep Smyrna and have Smyrna sweep Siegel for Stewarts Creek - and hope Oakland loses 2 games and Blackman loses a game - to host. But interesting thing is what if Siegel, Stewarts Creek and Oakland finish 13-5? Siegel has the tie-breakers so they host but automatic berth goes away per district by-laws. Blackman instead of Oakland can finish 13-5 by winning out.... We have a lot of baseball left....
