  1. Way to go Landers !! Your hard work and determination pays off !!
  2. Tonights game will be a barnburner with Cloudland. They have some outstanding players. And I've noticed that their coaches have been in the stands the last few games that Unaka has played , home and away. So, they will be ready for the Rangers. , But The Rangers are on "Their Game" right now , especially after playing the teams they have played the past few weeks. The Coaches schedule those games for a reason...."It makes the TEAM play harder, work harder, and "WANT" to WIN, Just like they played against UH, those boys played with "HEART and DETERMINATION" and that my friends, makes you winners. The Rangers will win tonight.
  3. Did somebody really THINK University High would actually beat Unaka ? I don't think so........ sorry about that UPSET UH . You have some outstanding players in that number 24 and number 4 . Sorrry , but I don't know their names... but they are outstanding "All arround" ball players.
  4. UNAKA 65 UNIVERSITY HIGH 57 GO RANGERS......!!!!!!! HOW ABOUT THOSE RANGERS......
  5. Game was played at University High ... TEAMWORK.....TEAMWORK........TEAMWORK........TEAMWORK..... What have you heard me say on almost all of my post's ? TEAMWORK....and tonight.... TEAMWORK PREVAILS!!!!!! UNAKA WINS.... coming from behind to win.... again.....TEAMWORK & COACHING..... CONGRATS UNAKA.....TEAM AND COACHES......

    unaka coaches

Well it looks like someone is trying to give OUR Coaches a hard time , AGAIN .... Come on..... GET OFF .... I have tried to make this point before ... looks like it was missed. , so I'll try one more time. Have you ever tried coaching ??? I'll bet.... NOT ! Think about this... Your watching your "TEAM" on the floor , your watching their team on the floor, analyzing your Defense playing against their Offense, trying to keep the best players on the floor at that particular time during play, while keeping the players focused on the job at hand,....and continue analyzing play, it is a vicious cycle for 8:00 mins at a time....then you get about 1:00 min to make some very difficult decisions, like, whats going to be the best defense and offense and players to start the next 8:00 mins. ....Come on people..... oh... just about forgot something....... try keeping the parents of 13 players happy by playing their son the entire game...... Think about that ... I have a son that plays for Donald, Johnny and Richard, I don't agree with everything they do ,,,, BUT... I DON'T , I repeat, DON'T Ridicule them nor do I jump them about playing time. Playing Time is Earned !! PERIOD !! NO QUESTIONS ASKED !! I Agree with that 100% I have told my son You wanna play.. You give 100% in Every Minute of Every Practice, You Listen and Absorb Every word of Instruction they Give, You look them in the Eye when they speak to you....YOU TRY to the best of your ability to follow and do what they instruct you to do..... Then and only then, will you EARN that playing time. Have A Great Day !!
  7. My Momma always told me.... "If you Don't have something Good to say about someone , Don't say nothing at all." Have A Great Day !!
  8. WOW !!! those Temple boys a athletes !! Not saying our Unaka Boys are not .... they are... but this bunch of kids were tall, could move fast , handle the ball , and shoot the eyes outta the hoop.. they were impressive.....now...on to our Guys... The RANGERS PLAYED GREAT !!! their defense tonight was IMPRESSIVE ! the ALL played as a TEAM !! (remember "TEAM ") They held Temple ..down in what could have been a blow out... GREAT JOB GUYS !! and COACHES !!
  9. We need to support ALL of our county and city teams. Sure, there are RIVALRIES between the teams, But that makes them want to play hard , and makes them want to win. But we DON"T need to bash them FOR ANY REASON ! Like TDOG said , he has coached half of the boys in the county, ok , I bet he is not the only one. Support your Kids ,which ever school they go to. Chances are you work with, or go to church with , or maybe even went to school and played ball with their parents. So... Pat them on the back, tell them they played a great game. THAT builds confidence, and maturity. Makes them want to play and enjoy what there doing. And about Tony Hardin :: I know Tony personally, and I really believe that if not for his own responsibilities at EHS , you might see him in the stands at UHS, or any one of the other schools watching the kids play. Remember, Tony is a teacher , and their first concern is the kids. This I truly believe. and the other Coaches : Before you bash them for any reason, put yourself in their shoes , try to make all the most difficult dicisions they HAVE to make and keep every player and parent happy.... come on , this is not a perfect world. whether we want to or not.... we will just have to deal with it.. oh....it wouldn't hurt to PAT THE COACHES ON THE BACK AND TELL THEM THEY HAD A GREAT GAME TOO.... Have A Great Day !! [Edited by Diggs9 on 1-9-03 4:01P]
  10. Man... I musta missed a barn burner last night...with all that is in this thread.. I got the score....but I don't get this..I thought The Ensor brothers were the Coaches...not the parents...sounds like some folks are unhappy with the Coaches actions of last night... well..what about the Refs ? did they do a good job ?? I bet NOT.... but no one is bashing the refs.. Of all the games that I've watched from the "SIDELINES" In our eyes coaches and refs are def, dumb and blind.... But , think about it ... their on the sidelines and were in the stands. Stands= NO PRESSURE Sidelines=ALL THE PRESSURE...Its easy for us to (THINK WE CAN) call the shots and plays. and the Refs.... Its easy for us to see the missed fouls or the wrong , "BAD" calls , we are in the stands looking down on the floor, there in the middle of the boys trying to see it all.... NO WAY they can do that. Thats like the coaches , their trying to analyize whats happening on the floor and decide what to change in the offense and defense ,who will be the better player on the floor at any givin time and make the adjustments, get the boys to understand what your trying to get them to do and then getting the boys to actually do it.....all ... while STILL ANALYIZING PLAY!!!! THINK ABOUT THAT !!! Then JUDGE the coaches decision making.
  11. Last nights game was a good game. both teams played sloppy to begin with. However......the 2nd quarter , Unaka got their heads on straight and really played ball. The coaches;Coached , the boys listened, and PLAYED. and they played as a TEAM (remember that ?) and won as a TEAM !! Chambers and McInturff played one of the BEST games I have seen them play. Collins,Cline,McCann and Guess, GREAT ball handling and reading the floor. GREAT JOB GUYS !!!The big kid...Jones? I think, had a great game also. The other big kid , Holsclaw ? he came off the bench and played well. This is the kind of "game" these boys are capable of every time they hit the floor. The only senior they have ,Arnold , fouled out late in the game , only after playing a great game. No one gave up, everyone played to the 110% level , and just think..... these are all soph and juniors, and freshmen. How are they gonna do next year ??? and the next ?? Think about that Watauga Valley Conf. !! CONGRADLATIONS RANGERS !!! YOU PLAYED GREAT !!! Good Luck with Cosby !!! wish I could be there.......
  12. The lady Rangers are really doing well this year. They have a great Coach and a great "TEAM" . Coach Chambers has done a terrific job with those girls. With their continued hard work and the way they give 110% they will go far the next few years.
  13. Johnson County .... sorry , but their not a joke. They have a good "TEAM" , and a good coach. The coach carries himself well and is good with the boys. He seems to have a good attitude on the court with the team. tell me this,,If JC beats EHS, will they blame it on bad night, players out, or say that JC just played a better game ? Knowing Coach Hardin,,,,, .... He will say, JC Played a great game and pat them on the back.
  14. TnRef , I am Not saying that Chambers is not a good player!!He IS a good player, But like YOU said, shot selection was not too good. And I think he still scored about 25 points, but to get those points , and because of shot selection, the percentage was about 25-30 % . Thats the part that makes it look bad. It suprises me that the Unaka coachs let this continue. I have seen this in 3 or 4 games. Thats where the term "TEAM" comes in , why not feed the ball of to one of the other 4 boys, If the other team is making him take the low percentage shots, then there should be at least 2 boys open for the higher percentage shot... Think about that. and then let me know what you think.
  15. The Unaka Rangers have a great cheering section. Look at the following they have . even the away games. They always bring a big crowd. Now .. their cheerleaders.... aaaah.... I hate to say it.... but I'm not sure if they have a squad or not.... Do you ? Rangers ?
  16. The score didn't really give a trur picture of the game. HV played a pretty good game. And talking about lester and walter being out for the night.... well...HV's BEST ...did I say BEST ?,,, SHOOTER....Point Guard..... Todd Caldwell... has been out with a broken arm..Or the score would have been a lot different. he is and has been a "three point" shooting machine.... he plays a great game..... hope to see you back on the floor soon Caldwell. oh.. I am NOT a HV fan at all..But , they do have some good kids and good players.
  17. UH ..... The New Weather Chanel ! ha.... I PERSONALLY don't think the weather had anything to do with it......and I don't think the young mans religion had anything to do with it either..... (I for one, respect the young man standing firm in his beliefs, and everyone else should too!) I think that UH didn't want to go thru their season with one game lost to the Rangers...their .....aaaaah......how do I say this.......aaaaahh........SCARED !!
  18. Don't forget Chambers., he will have to play well tonight and play as a team player, and I'm not saying he don't. Just needs to consentrate on the TEAM and not being high scorer.and as for Collins,Cline,McInturf,Jones, and Arnold....all of these could average 12-15 pts per game and you've still got Holsclaw,McCann, and Guess who could chip in with 4-6 pts. Unaka has a great TEAM, no superstars like the past .... but a GREAT TEAM !! Like I've said before, They will open some eyes in the next couple of years.
  19. TEAM PLAY..... TEAM WORK ...... TEAM......TEAM..... Remember that Unaka..and you WILL WIN..... If you haven't noticed, I am a Unaka Ranger Fan. [Edited by Diggs9 on 1-3-03 1:45P]
  20. You gotta be kiddin me.... what a joke !! Bradley has improved since last year, plays with more control and discipline. he is a good inside player. and can dunk the ball. he's 6'6" ,a dunk should be automatic.....ok.. but thats it. he's an inside player... Dugger, on the other hand, could play ANY position on the floor, ANY TIME, ANY GAME ,ANY DAY , and had the stamina to play the entire game.,he could play the "D" and then take it to the hole ,then beat you back to your side of the gym.,,,so come on......did you ever even actually SEE Dugger play ??? I don't think so. he was a GREAT TEAM PLAYER and/or LEADER !!!! (TEAM) being the key word here. Whats this about Bradly and Chambers , being a toss-up for conference MVP ?? Think about it..... conference MVP ?? Remember what I said about "TEAM" being a key word ? I dont know either one of these two boys , personally , but I have watched them play for a few years. I don't think either of them will be MVP, sorry...... but thats JUST my opinion.
  21. OK.... chambers is a good player....however: he is not the ONLY player that Unaka has, Unaka has about 8 or 9 players that COULD average 10-15 points per game. while playing some great "D" . and speed, quickness, just watch them one night.... come and watch their JV.... Then ; in about 1 or 2 years, come and watch them play in the "Boro" .
