  1. Hey Bigster! If the rain is going to slow you guys down then let it poor baby! As I said in the other thread, I'm looking forward to this one. I was checking last year's stats earlier and found that we were in that game during the first half but we turned it over SEVEN TIMES! Four fumbles and three picks; that's just crazy! I'm glad to have our normal starting QB back for this one; gives us another option running the football. As for the playoffs, I'm hoping for a win and not leaving all the numbers up to the TSSAA to screw us like they have with enrollment. I think we are probably in either way: Cornersville is going to win at 1-8 Richland Wayne County is going to win at 2-7 Perry County. Grace Baptist is probably going to lose against 8-1 Silverdale Academy McEwen is probably going to lose against 8-1 Clarksville Academy RBS is probably going to lose at 6-3 Trousdale County Sunbright is a toss up against 3-6 Wartburg
  2. South Fulton is officially done since they have the bye tonight; they can't catch anybody and are stuck at three wins.
  3. OK, last week is last week. Time to move on for both teams. This has been my favorite game of the year since I remember anything about high school football. A couple of times when we played the Falcons, we mysteriously received a funeral spray in all green from Lake County. Hilarious; but our head coach at the time tried to use that as a way of firing up the troops. Back in "the day" a loss in this game wasn't good enough to make the playoffs; even if you finished 9-1 overall, which happened a couple of times to my recollection. This is a huge game for Halls...for both teams really. I've looked at the teams tied with us and that are directly under us in this week's playoff matrix and it "looks" like we are in no matter what. I would love to take this one to be in for sure, to finish 500, for the rivalry and to say we took runner up on the A side of the district. A week ago the TSSAA had us hosting a game; I think that is probably lost now with Gleason up a game on us, but who knows. Even still, I'd like to win and take my chances in Tater Town than have to go back up to Union City again. Here are the comparisons with the teams we have each played this year: Greenfield - LC won 47-28, Halls won 37-7 Peabody - LC lost 34-32, Halls lost 48-17 Union City - LC lost 34-28, Halls lost 42-0 South Fulton - LC won 58-27, Halls won 16-14 Humboldt - LC lost 40-26, Halls lost 29-14 Lake County has won the last three in this rivalry. I hope we come out with some of that fire we had before our open week.
  4. We can't; already been proven about 12 years ago. Only hope we have is the District 14 stays as is - for at least the regular season - and they just swap us with Humboldt. My biggest worry is that Gibson County is now sitting right there in Class A and they will kick us out and send us to Memphis.
  5. If you thought you had it easy with us, then......
  6. If you thought you had it easy with us, then......
  7. Good showing Peabody (currently 41-10 at half). Love ur new stadium!
  8. The fans and administration of Halls High School have placed our affidavit of swap to the TSSAA as of 8:32AM, 10/19/12, to keep Halls in Class A where we belong and to send Union City back to Class AA where they belong and desire to be. Thank you Tornadoes!
  9. Anybody know where I can find a Peabody roster online?
  10. Good luck to both squads; hoping for at least an injury-free game for both the Tide and the Tigers!!! Go Halls!
  11. Yea CardsFan pointed that out in another thread. Feel a little better getting to play the same teams most likely; but possibly playing McKenzie in the playoffs is a far cry from Gleason (no hard feelings Bulldog fans, especially since y'all own us right now).
  12. Good point CardFan. Maybe they will leave us as is and justI guess swap us and Humboldt within the two classifications.
  13. I guess I need to post in here while I still can; only two weeks of regular season and then playoffs before we go to AA in football! Ridiculous!!!
  14. I could see the idiot TSSAAhosers sending us (Halls) all the way to that district too. We r stuck in no mans land; I bet we get sent to Memphis.
  15. Dark day; we could play anywhere from Huntingdon/McKenzie to Adamsville/Memphis for a district game. Ridiculous!!! We need to get a home game and take care of business this year!
  16. I didn't go back too far in this thread, but a friend sent me an email from the Jackson Christian School dated yesterday afternoon stating they are moving back to D1: "After much input from coaches, and significant prayer and consideration by the administration, the JCS Board of Trustees has approved our recommendation to return to TSSAA Division I athletics for the 2013-2017 classification cycle. This will move us into a district comprised mainly of public school competition." Great! I'm not sure where the multiplier will put them, but chances are a other team now could push us up a class.
  17. I think having the week off took a little of our fire away last week to be honest. We struggled on D in the first half against Greenfield, but then I think the coaches must have lit them up at halftime becasue the Tigers only allowed 20-something yards after the break. We will be without our starting quarterback at Peabody; he was ejected for his second unsportman-like penalty on the last play of the first half. He has been very good on his feet, with over 100 yards against Humboldt and almost 100 before getting tossed. Our backup QB is more of a pocket-passer. We have speed at runningback, although he had issues holding onto the ball at Humboldt. He fumbled three times to start possessions after we had either caused a turnover or forced punts. I hope he got that out of his system last week though with four TDs and almost 200 yards. I hope we can get out of this one unscathed medically because I personally am ready for the Lake County game. I say we skip this one and go straight to Week 10; winner of that game gets automatic bid as runnerup on the single A side no matter what happens this week.
  18. A little late in posting, but here are the results from last week's 14A games and the current 14A standings: Peabody 50 South Fulton 0 Humboldt 27 Greenfield 0 Union City 34 Lake County 28 Halls OPEN Humboldt 3-0 5-2 Peabody 3-0 4-3 Union City 3-1 5-3 Lake County 1-2 4-3 Halls 1-2 3-4 South Fulton 0-3 3-5 Greenfield 0-3 1-6 As far as the week ahead goes, will Humboldt fall to Peabody and finally break their district winning streak? Isn't it at like 16 straight or something now? I guess this is the biggest game of the year in the district outside of last week's UC victory over LC. I guess you all saw the latest playoff projections: everybody in our district is currently in except Greenfield. This week's 14A games: Greenfield @ Halls (Thursday) Peabody @ Humboldt Lake County @ South Fulton Union City OPEN
  19. I saw that earlier; where the heck are all the kids at North Side going? Are they going to South Gibson now? We need to start kicking the kids from Ripley out of our school and send them back to that end of the county. Either that or their schools need to get in gear and stop mandating that kids from there can come to Halls because of low scores.
  20. This is total crap! Every Friday night we drive to games and just shake our heads that places like Union City, Humboldt and Trenton are below us in enrollment. These are big places. Now you are telling me so are McKenzie and Dresden? All of these county and private schools popping up everywhere are KILLING the chances of actual RURAL schools to succeed. We are starting to compete again right now in football; putting us in AA would be another death wish against us. Same thing happened to us about 16 years ago. We were competing pretty good in single A, then they dropped the bomb on us to go to doubleA when doubleA was the middle class. We had no chance. Kids started dropping out of athletics because there was no since in competing against the big schools from Jackson, Memphis, Milan, Westview and at the time Humboldt. We were getting slaughtered on the field. I can only hope the TSSAA is nice to us and puts the cutoff at 400.
  21. OK so here are the results from Friday's 14A games and the current 14A standings: Peabody 30 Union City27 Humboldt 29 Halls 14 South Fulton 48 Greenfield 6 Lake County OPEN Humboldt 2-0 4-2 Peabody 2-0 3-3 Union City 2-1 4-3 Lake County 1-1 4-2 Halls 1-2 3-4 Greenfield 0-2 1-5 South Fulton 0-2 3-4 I never saw a thread on the game, but I would like to add here how proud I was of Halls on Friday night. We never backed down; not one inch, from Humboldt Friday night. Our D played its best game of the year. The only problem was on offense. On three different occassions we either forced a Viking fumble or forced a punt only to fumble the ball away on the very first play of our possession. Heck, we forced a 3 and out on Humboldt's first possession and gave them the rock immediately after. But after the Vikings scored we came right back. Good job Tigers! Keep playing like that and I have no doubt you will be playing in November!!! This week's 14A games: Union City @ Lake County South Fulton @ Peabody Humboldt @ Greenfield Halls OPEN
  22. I saw that earlier today at lunch. I was thinking the other night that we had a shot to get in this year. That win against South Fulton is going to payoff for us if we can take care of business these last four games, which won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination: @ Humboldt, Greenfield, @ Trenton and Lake County. We will HAVE to beat the Yellowjackets for sure to keep us in the mix and then maybe we can slip up on one of the others.
  23. Thanks for the use of your great facilities! Not much D but pretty good game in a 35-19 TCA win.
  24. Gleason at Halls almost got the coin toss in before officials delayed the game. Two hours later game postponed until 7pm Saturday night. Others?
