  1. No, we got to celebrate homecoming with a loss to Gleason. Please don't try to give Peabody any motivation.
  2. My post will be a hybrid between Butchie and Alumni: Mosquitoes by 14
  3. We definitely have a lot to look forward to....only three seniors and we are playing a slew of freshmen and sophomores. I just hope these blowout losses don't pile up and make us lose confidence for the future. The Peabody record is soooo non-telling of their actual team. I think Devil-Alumni, who has our scores pegged, is being kind. The Tide has lost all four games to teams ranked in one of three polls. I just hope we can get through it without getting anybody hurt. Go Tigers!
  4. Ah, therefore the reason for my name on here: TIGER TIGER!!! I can't wait for this basketball season!!! Hoping for a win tonight vs Tulsa too.
  5. Congrats Devils! Just like last week, we took the opening kick and drove down inside the 30. After losing a few yards we punted and pinned you at the three. Good, right? Well a nice play action fake let your reciever go wide open down the home sideline for the home run ball and you guys were on your way. We drove inside SF's 30 SIX times tonight and only scored on the one trip late in the game when it was A team against B team. A punt, a couple of turnovers, a turnover on downs, etc. If we score on some of those drives it is a different ballgame, but then there is the handgrenades and horseshoes thing too. Our schedule doesn't ease up any time soon with Peabody and UC coming up next. Good luck against Lake County...we have taken some beatings the last couple of weeks but the Falcons are the best team we have seen.
  6. We need a win desperately. The loss to Gleason derailed us and we are having a hard time getting back on the track. Last week's game at Dresden was the worst one yet...the score wasn't as bad as the Lake County game, but after we marched down the field on the opening drive and stalled at their 20, it looked like we just quit. The same theme continues...we just can't tackle. We make plays to get to the ball, but then we either don't break down or we simply don't wrap up. South Fulton's QB scares me this week because we struggle with quick QBs in the backfield. We've played five games and all five times we have fallen behind to start the game. We got lucky the first two weeks, but it cost us dearly against Gleason, LC just crushed us and then we crushed ourselves last week at Dresden not scoring on that opening drive. I'm looking forward to the trip to SF this week...I think this will be our first game at the new stadium. I've seen it from the highway, but have yet to drive up to the new school other than for a baseball game. It's going to be strange not driving on into town to the old field. Alumni, you almost pegged our score exactly last week...hoping for better results this week but wouldn't be surprised with either yours OR bigster's prognostications. At least our road trips are getting shorter and shorter: hour and 40 to Scotts Hill, hour and 20 to Dresden, hour this week to South Fulton and then just 45 minutes in our last two to UC and Humboldt. So much for this Z thing playing games closer to home.
  7. Hey Lions fans: I posted in the Halls vs Dresden thread but never got any replies: How is your cheerleader that fell during our game on Friday?
  8. Not sure what happenend to my reply earlier, but I will try to recap what I said. Very close to the score Devil! I sure wish we could tackle because outside of Lake County, I really don't think we are that much worse than Gleason or Dresden. We simply can't tackle. Period. Congrats Lions! I loved the "Revenge is Sweet" shirts...you guys really got into your homecoming! Very cool!!! The one thing I wanted to check on is how the cheerleader is doing??? Right before it happened I said, "hey, she almost fell." Someone else said they needed to be doing that stuff out on the grass and not on that concrete/rock between the stands and the field. The next thing we know she is down, everybody is watching them instead of the game and then she was on a body board being taken away in an ambulance. I would love to know how she is doing. Prayers to her and her family and friends!!!
  9. When I heard the score on our LOONNNG drive home last night, I knew LC had to have had a bunch of turnovers. Eight just about counts as a bunch.
  10. Woof...45-0? Man, I hope not; that'll be hard to sit through. I don't think we have the D to tackle nor shock the Lions like last year, but I think we will score. I've been known to be wrong though.
  11. Tyler and Boyd are scary good. But there were many times where we were there to make a play but couldn't make the tackle. Tackling is a major problem for this team.
  12. We ain't got no aliby: That was U G L Y! Man, Lake County smashed us in the mouth tonight. You guys looked 10 times better tonight than you did in the Jamboree. Hays is sneaky quick...I was talking after the jamboree about how much faster he has gotten over his four years behind center. We had no answer. I thought Gauldin was going to break our QB in half that one play when he threw him to the ground in the first half. The first thing that went wrong tonight was the coin toss, which we won and decided to defer for some reason. We haven't scored first to start a game yet and we are letting you guys get the ball first. And of course the trickeration on the first play got things off nicely for you guys. Congrats LC fans. You have a very solid team over there. What a difference a year makes. I'm looking forward to watching your progression towards the playoffs.
  13. Darn, I was hoping you guys would have forgotten about that already so we could try it again next Friday.
  14. My absolute favorite game of the year: Falcons and Tigers!!! I read in the Banner yesterday where Boyd and everybody else is healthy for LC. We had a linebacker out last Friday night; hope he is back tonight! This series has been very close the last couple of years: 2009 at Tiptonville - LC by 5 2008 at Tiptonville - Halls by 4 The difference this year may very well be the experience factor. Lake County's guys are all upper classmen and we are mostly freshmen and sophomores. Drive safely Falcon fans!
  15. Hey Bigster! Get ready for less coverage this week when the Tigers and Falcons square off! We aren't even listed on the Fearless competition for the week!
  16. When we played at the Dyersburg Jamboree (still a stupid idea if you ask me although you didn't), it was even-steven after the first quarter. The stats were the same all the way across the board. In the second quarter we couldn't stop QB Hays (Is that his last name? I know it is Sam for the first name) from running all over us. Of course we couldn't keep up with Boyd and another kid in the end zone on a couple of easy pass plays too. I think we will stay in it...we have a kid that missed the Gleason game last week that could help us out. I'm glad Homecoming is out of the way and we can focus on football again. I was really hoping to be 3-0 coming into this one, but maybe our youngsters needed to be brought down a notch and refocus just in time for district play and a fun rivalry! I think we will be able to hang in, but we need to start the game ahead for a change. We have been behind on the scoreboard to start all three of our games so far. Halls seems to be a much better second half team than first half. Maybe that is the youth...not sure.
  17. OK, so here it is... Gleason ran their O to perfection and we had no idea where the ball was. Same thing happens whenever we play Union City's offense too. We couldn't stop the Dawgs. It was 27-7 at halftime and it was 33-19 as the fourth quarter started. Gleason fumbled on the first play of the fourth and we converted a fake punt to keep the drive alive, but we couldn't pickup a first down inside their 25 to end the drive. That pretty much did it with about 8:00 minutes left. I think Gleason got very close to 400 yards on the night on over FIFTY run plays. Lake County comes into town this week...ugh, hopefully we can get it together again. Congrats Gleason!!!
  18. I'm also looking forward to returning to SF. Unfortunately I can't remember, but will this be our first trip to your new home or was 03 back at the old place? I have a short memory. Any Gleason fans want to chime in on the Bulldogs v Tigers game?
  19. Yes, freshman QB. He went 18-28 for 225 yards in our last game; seven of those incompletions were in the first half.
  20. Halls coming in off a bye week...Gleason lost at home to West Carroll. Bulldogs face their first road game in 2010. After traveling to Tater Town for two straight seasons, Halls finally gets the chance to host Gleason again at HG Conley Stadium. Halls - although ridiculously young - found a way to come back from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit two weeks ago. Gleason broke up Halls' 2-0 start in 2009? Can they do it again in 2010? I'm expecting a really good game!!!
  21. Sounds like a thriller in the Ville! Score I see shows Humboldt wins by one in OT, 35-34.
